Well, I did have it under control, for the first few hours on Sunday. Then I had other stuff to do.

Semarland wrote:Agreed. No fun for those who don't want to participate - and no fun for those who do when quite a few people aren't taking part.

Nor do I believe that 'don't login' is an appropriate response. But I've already said that.

I don't get why they don't make it an issue triggered event sort of like it would probably be in an MMORPG (for example)

That way you can just ignore the event and be left out of it. If the devs give the issue a time lapse so it disappears after x hours if not addressed, problem solved no?

Admittedly I don't know the inner workings of nationstates game code but I'd imagine that's absolutely doable and not a monumental task to implement...

I hadn't actually logged in since the night before this all kicked off. What time did it start, was it GMT?

It started at 1 PM my time and I'm on GMT -7 through this week, so 8 PM GMT.

But it's over now. Yay!

That was almost exactly what I asked. They refused to answer, declared other users' outright flaming of my questions "not actionable," and instead answered off-topic questions in the thread.

Yes, this is who you probably think it is. :)
I could probably start an NS transit district with all the express-bus-named nations. :)

I'm available to set my nations of the region to "research" as soon as the stupidity begins, and encourage everyone else who's available to also set their nations to "research." Also, I don't know if I'm able to set a regional password without using influence, however I have one lined up in case Vil and/or Falc aren't available.
Once again I will state my dissatisfaction with the refusal to provide an opt-out to users in a similar fashion to how one isn't required to join the WA or a regional password to stay out of R/D. IMO; it's 2016, websites that provide products and/or services to the public should operate in a professional fashion 24 hours a day, every day of the year. (Consider the outcry from the unprofessional Gmail "mic drop" button last April 1st for example: http://productforums.google.com/d/topic/gmail/5aOAnuG3G4g )

Thanks for the response, actually had some stuff happen and wasn't able to log on to see what was going on, but looks like people were able to handle.

I would agree with a few other posters when they say it is time for a change. I enjoyed the first time and on here for 6-7 hours coordinating with Star on what nations users should be firing missiles at but it's not really something that is enjoyable enough to do year after year. Especially considering the zombie craze has died down significantly since the first time.

I have some other theories; maybe someone on the NS Staff (Game Admin/Mod/whoever) likes the event, or that it's a way to get more ads to load on users/nations that aren't site supporters to generate additional site revenue. But any and all questions pertaining to it are either left (purposely?) unanswered or others are allowed to get away with flaming users asking any said questions.

It's over for now. AOCAF 52 predictions anyone? :P

Oh, we've gotten featured!

On a semi-related note, I've found the world activity ticker and it's very soothing

Yeah, not a bad idea. But signups and host bids should probably be done before December...

Vilita

Bad timing on that map update - I got removed after 1 day and 8 minutes of CTE...a temporary situation of course. Mind you, if I hadn;t been going through some old RP's of Barunia and found a link to my DBC RP, I never would have noticed...
