The Communication Officer sighs and sits back in his chair, rubbing the sides of his head. He had been up since 6:00 AM yesterday. With the possible loss of Orion 17, he hadnt been able to get out of his chair.
Communications: "Hey..Orion 17 Orbit, Can you try again to reach the LEM..?"
Command Module Pilot Lewis: "Of Course, Comms, I'll try and reach them, you get some rest."
Communications: "Thanks Lewis...Sorry about this."
Command Module Pilot Lewis: "Orion 17 Lunar, This is Lewis, You hear Me?"
The Communications Officer leans back and closes his eyes for a few minutes, catch a quick rest before attempting anything he can with contact.
Over in another office, Flight Control John Lex, Lunar Module Officer Frank Ciacca, Chief Lunar Scientist Sabastian Ciacca, and Chief Rocket Designer Daniel Banes sit down in their respected chairs.
John continues to look at the screens, hoping for anything to show up.
Franklin Ciacca: "John, Listen, you need to pay attention, I know this is stressful but Sabastian and I have gone over the data before loss of contact...Its..Well, Not good.
John Lex: "Is it possible the LEM exploded?"
Franklin Ciacca: "Highly unlikely, if the LEM had exploded, the data would've spiked to emergency levels, not just...Disappear like it did here."
Daniel Banes: "So they crashed."
Franklin sighs and nods at Daniel
Franklin Ciacca: "Its the most likely answer."
Sabastian Ciacca: "Well, they were getting low on fuel at the LOS moment, so they are down."
John Lex: "This plating on the LEM is so thin, you can punch a hole in it with a pair of scissors."
Daniel Banes: "Well...At Least they were in their suits, they could've survived a breach of the hull.."
Franklin Ciacca: "That is true, they could be still alive up there."
John Lex: Franklin, They have about 5 hours of oxygen in those suits alone, by now...well..If there wasnt a breach, they might possibly be alive up there, but if there was, they should be long dead by now.
Suddenly the Communications Officer barges into the office, nearly breaking the door.
Communication Officer: "John, We have another problem here."

New Years In Fallooplesburg!
“Hello, I’m Olivia Ochsenbein, and welcome back to Courier News. The team and I are very happy to be back on air in time for the new year. The Civil War left the whole crew a bit scattered as some of us were drafted and others had to flee their homes to avoid the fighting. But now that it’s over we’re back giving you news on all the important happenings in Fallooplesburg! Obviously this year has been very difficult for some and for the country as a whole. We wish everyone a very happy new year which preparations for celebrations of have started across the country. All state capitals and major cities of Fallooplesburg are having firework shows, including a large one in Belem, many citizens have been flying to Belem to see the show. And we’re actually here right now, so stay tuned if you want to see that in a few minutes the Queen will be broadcasting an end of year address to the whole country. And we’ll switch to that now.”
The channel switches to a broadcast of an office, facing towards a podium put in front of Fallooplesburgian flags. Some light chatter is heard in the background until the queen begins speaking
“Hello, I’d like to start this broadcast with a moment of silence for those who lost their lives during the war.” the room stays silent for a moment “With the death of Raymond von Aegir III, the creation of the NCSE, joining the Southern Anterian Defense Alliance, the assassination of Noah von Ailmir that ultimately resulted in civil war, and the following reconstruction plans including the creation of the Anterian Free Trade Organization. This year has been the highest of highs and the lowest of lows for Fallooplesburg in a long time, but it’s no use dwelling on the past. The only thing we can do is make our future brighter. See you all in 2021 enjoy the fireworks.”

Next, the rebuilding effort is beginning as the government hires builders to help reconstruct Corinamax and strengthen it to international standards. On other news, the council (NNC) has agreed 14-1 to join the Anterian Free Trade Organization. Finally, the NNC wishes to report the opening of the International Embassy Tower, the building of a tower that will hold the ambassadors of all of Anteria, something which was agreed upon on a close 8-6 vote.

I probably celebrate New Years last here and I got another 6 hours to go. But before I forget, I just wanna say Happy New Years y’all, 2020 wasn’t the bad for me and a lot of thing happened this year, primarily for the good. One of which was me finding this region. Although I found it because of how bored I was during lockdown. I’m gonna continue it even when it’s done. Anyway, done with my floats of irl gratitude.

New Years Statement from Greshoe
Greshoe Jemtrik at 12:00 AM, January 1st, 2021, made a speech, “I would like to congratulate everyone who made this year as great as it could. I would like to have a moment of silence for Felix Fruek, who sadly died on November 27th due to an assasination.” The crowd goes silent for 60 seconds before Greshoe starts speaking again, “I hope to bring peace with neighboring states, including Acriae. So at this moment I would like to request a temporary ceasefire between Acriae and Kistolia until January 2nd.”
He finished the speech with one final note. “No matter who you are, what race, what ideology, what nationality, I want to say Happy New Year.”

Time 8:00 PM
Nearly everyone gathered around one of the screens, staring at it.
On the screen showed a camera onboard the Command Module showing Lewis staring down through a telescope.
After a minute, one of the mission controllers pressed a button, bringing the screen up onto one of the main big screens.
Command Pilot Lewis: "Im coming up on they're last known position now...I still have no eyes on them."
Flight Control John Lex "Keep looking Lewis, you should be able to see something from up there."
Command Pilot Lewis: "Im looking, its- Wait, Wait there it is! I see the lander through the telescope."
The camera on board switch to one looking down through the scope, giving everyone watching a look at the lander. The sight shows the lander in the middle of a rocky area.
Command Pilot Lewis: "I-I uh...I dont see any movement down there, Its hard to see anything down there from this altitude."
Flight Controller John Lex: "Its alright Lewis, its good to know where they are at least."
John gets up and heads back up into the office to see the group from before.
Slowly walking up the staircase towards the office room.
He stops at the top, looking back at the screens, seeing the LEM disappear out of sight of the telescope camera.
He shivers a little from the thought that might be the last time anyone would ever see the crew again.
He sighs and shakes his head, opening up the office door and entering
John Lex: "It has been over 24 hours, and we found the LEM landing sight. Lewis said that it looks like they came down in an extremely rocky area."
Franklin Ciacca: "Good Good, At least we know where they are."
Sabastian Ciacca: "So...Is there any final plans for this..?"
Daniel Banes: "There is no way to rescue any one from the Lunar Surface."
John Lex: "Right, we are planning on calling Lewis back earlier than expected."
Daniel Banes: "It light be hard but he can solo fly it back, most of it is automated anyway."
John Lex: "Ill break the news to Lewis."
John stood up and looked at the time, the clock read 8:15.
He opens the office door and walks towards the communications chair, picking up his head set and putting it on.
John Lex: "Comms, try a few more times...Just to be sure at this point."
Communications: "Copy that Flight."
Communications: "Orion 17 Lunar, This Is Comms, do you copy?"
Nothing but static.
Communications: "Orion 17 Lunar, This Is Comms, do you Copy? Over"
Command Module Pilot: "Comms, do you hear that..?"
Communications: "Say again Orion 17 Orbital?"
????:....."Lunar Base...Copy? Over."
????:.."Ion 17 Lunar Base, Anyone Copy? Over."
Nearly everyone sat up in their chairs and look over at the Communication Officer.
Communications: "Orion 17 Lunar Base? Henry, Ben, is that you?!"
Commander Henry: "That is correct Comms, we just want to say, we are down, safe and sound..."
Suddenly all of the screens start lighting back up, showing information being sent from the LEM and the moon.
Commander Henry: "We may have clipped a boulder or two, but we are upright with no hull damage. We can stick around on the moon for the New Year still."
Communications: "Well thats great to hear! You scared a whole lot of people down here, Everyone is glad to hear your voice again!"
Lunar Pilot Ben: "I think I got the camera working Henry."
With that, the camera flickered and buzzed, showing the LEM leaning heavily against a boulder, one of the landing legs having been ripped off. Ben Begins to hop back towards the LEM, showing Henry on top of the LEM, fixing the antenna on the roof.
Commander Henry: "We may have been roughed up with the landing, but Ben and I have done a full ship assessment, only the decent module seems to have been damaged, so we can stay for the New Year."
Everyone in the space center clap and breath a sigh of relief, John smiles and chuckles lightly. Pretty much collapsing into his chair, huffing heavily with relief
Golden lotus concluded, New sebronia victorious
With the end of 2020, just few hours before the end of the year, Golden lotus competition ended with the conclusion of the best results. Special congratulations goes to New sebronia and their movie "The Second Dimension", which won the first place.
The description of the movie reads: The Second Dimension is about a young man called Dave Greenheart, who found a weird amulet which made him able to switch between different dimensions, which housed different worlds, people, and species. Unfortunately because of a bad guy wanting that amulet attacking Dave, the amulet (still in Dave's possession) got seriously damaged, which forced Dave to be stuck between two dimensions; the reality and some ghost dimension that revealed a different "level" of the reality. Basically, he could interact with the ghost figures while still being in the reality. And now he has to get out and defeat that bad guy.
Thank each of you, who submitted something, I know those last weeks had been frantic and don't be sad, that you weren't the one who won, you still have a perfectly worldbuilt movie you made yourself!

Anteria's Best (and Only) Regional Newspaper, Coming To you Courtesy of Polder Eiland and Kentalis PressesJanuary 2021 Edition: Conlanging in Anteria

Conlanging has always been a prominent part of the Anterian community, but lately, it has become even more popular, with more and more people deciding to make their own language. I myself found it interesting as well, so I’ve decided to write an article about it. I will explain how conlangs work, why they can affect someone’s worldbuilding and finally, I will show some examples.
Conlangs (Constructed Languages) are languages who are in most cases completely made for creative works (think of Klingoneese for Star Trek), these languages are also known as fictional languages. Anteria’s Conlangs fall into this category, with most languages either being a mix between already existing languages, or something completely new. Conlanging isn’t easy, however. You will need to have experience with (foreign) languages, which is something not everyone has. But, if you decide to make your own conlang and really decide to push through with it, the results will be worth it, since you will finally have made your own language. This alone might determine some people to continue with it.
The effects upon someone’s worldbuilding could be detrimental, with the language being able to make your country either a single-nationality or a multiple-cultural powerhouse. But the effects continue, for example, some people decide to make their own culture after they’ve made their own language, hence completely changing the worldbuilding to accompany the language.
A few notable examples for Anteria’s conlangs are Zhousi, a language mostly spoken in Zhousheng and the wider Sekidean Union. According to Zhousheng himself, the language is a weird combination of Vietnamese phonology, Czech phonemes and multiple Slavic grammatical systems. I think it’s a very well made language, I particularly like the worldbuilding behind it. But, of course, this isn’t the only conlang, another example of Anteria’s conlangs is made by a long time member, Gabrielt in Gabrielland. It is known for its many versions and the major differences between its versions. Finally, we have Lakkathan, spoken in Qazhshava. I think that this one is among the best conlangs of Anteria, due to the effort Qazh has put into it. For example, while he is still doing the normal sentences, he is also doing conlanging challenges. For example, he once translated the entire evacuation message of Chernobyl into his language, spending an entire evening writing the message. He later on even added the pronunciation and literal translation to the message. Of course, these are only three languages of the dozens, with a notable mention being Sebric in New Sebronia, which is grammatically German, while it’s vocabulary is a mix between Nordic and German/nordicAnd it has a slight touch of South-Eastern Asian.
Conlanging plays a major role in Anteria’s worldbuilding community, while it might be a bit hard for beginners, it will eventually be worth it and I think it is worth making it.

The Anterian Civil Service is a means for citizens who are not necessarily involved in the Directorate directly to become involved in the day-to-day operations of Anteria, filling in the gaps where the founder and directors cannot always perform their duties, or would prefer to help share the ability to participate in their Directorates.
Until recently, the Anterian Civil Service was relatively underdeveloped and disjointed between departments. However, under a new initiative started by Emi, the Founder, every Directorate in Anteria will now have a structure for joining the civil service.
The Directorates of Media and Enforcement were two examples of early implementation of this design. The Director of Media had already implemented a similar structure by allowing citizens to become journalists for the Three Star Tribune. This system has allowed journalists to contribute to the paper without taking on the responsibilities of editing or distribution. The Directorate of Enforcement, headed by The Byrdlands, oversees the moderators of the discord server and regional message board, and allows these moderators to perform their duties with and intermediate between the founder’s direct oversight and their immediate decisions.
However, the expansion now centralizes the application process for joining the Civil Service to one dispatch, and expands the civil service in several departments. For example, the Directorate of Recruitment has now absorbed the greeters, a group of citizens who greet new members as soon as they join the discord server.
Additionally, the Directorate of Roleplay has introduced a Roleplay Council, consisting of three members who serve three month terms and oversee the rules of roleplay.
The Civil Service will continue to help Anterians participate in their region where it matters for years to come, and these reforms will hopefully make it much easier for members to find roles they are interested in.

[Kentalis] Alright, Tell us a bit about yourself.
[Polder Eiland] I'm Jinkies! I've been active on NationStates for seven years under various names. I'm known mostly for my work in the Augustin Alliance and The Black Hawks, though I've done a few other things of note. My recent projects include being Director of Media for Anteria, and I'm currently running for Minister of Foreign Affairs for the Conch Kingdom.
[K] Alrighty, next up! Tell a bit about your countries, like the government type.
[P] Oh! Sure! For a while, I ran Polder Eiland, which was a small island nation modelled after The Netherlands and Singapore. It was guild republic, with the government structure influence by the Republic of Venice and by the City of London. I now run Aenglicia. Aenglicia is a large communist nation, which ultimately desires to bring as many nations as possible into its fold. However, its position far away from other superpowers is a double-edged sword: it has to influence other nations by starting up proxy wars, etc.
[K] Pretty cool, now, what was the best thing you did with any of your countries?
[P] Honestly, that's a very difficult question to answer. I suppose I'm very proud of building up the guild republic system in Polder Eiland. I got compliments from a lot of people on it, and I know some people were disappointed to see the switch of my RP nation.
[K] Next up, why did you decide to become a part of the Directorate?
[P] I decided to become a part of the Directorate because I felt I could effectively work as DoM and excel at my job in a way that was interesting to me and could serve the community. Emi wanted me to make a newspaper, and that had been something I was interested in for some time as well, so when that became my job, I was very excited about it.
[K] Final 2 questions, you ready?
[P] Yeah!
[K] What are your plans for your future contributions to Anteria?
[P] I mean, I still plan on being a Journalist with the TST. So that’s one thing. Otherwise, I might consider doing things like contributing to the civil service elsewhere, if needed. Generally, I’m not sure what I want to do with regards to RP, so I’ll have to think about that a good deal.
[K] And now, for the final question. What are your tips for the person who is going to take your position?
[P] Take your position seriously, do your work, and be creative. You’ve been given a mandate by the founder to create a narrative about little snapshots into Anterian culture. That’s, to me, very beautiful. These news dispatches may survive for years to come. It is your duty and your distinct privilege to tell a story about your region.

Hello, I’m Kentalis, and in case by the time this newspaper gets published, the new Director of Media has already been announced, consider this an announcement of my plans.
Basically, my plans include a major expansion of the TST Staff and the amount of TST articles added per publication. In fact, I would like the TST to make a total of eight articles per publication. I would also like to increase the variety of articles, for example making an article about someone’s worldbuilding, or focusing on a particular event which might happen in roleplay, There are, of course, more things we can make articles about, like region affairs and the likes, but that’s all up to you guys. Other than more articles, I would like to announce a new idea, which is Special issues, these newspapers come out alongside the normal newspaper one per three months and it reflects upon the events of the last three months, together with more articles as you would see in a magazine. And finally, I have one important announcement. I can not do this without you all, hence I would request more people to join the TST Staff and try to make articles. After all, Anteria is a community and communities do a lot of things together, hence I ask you, personally, to help me make the TST a staple thing of Anteria.

French Onion Soup
INGREDIENTS
One spanish onion
Beef stock, 1 cup
Salt and pepper
Swiss or Gruyere cheese, 2 oz
French Bread
INSTRUCTIONS
Preheat the oven to 350oF
Chop the onion lengthwise into slivers
Salt the onion
Fry the onion on medium flame until caramelized (at least 30 min) in a saucepan
Add a splash of water if the onion begins to burn while caramelizing
Cook two slices of French bread in the oven for 15 min.
Once the onion is done caramelizing, add 2 tsp flour and cook for 1 minute
Add the beef stock to the saucepan, and bring it to a simmer. Simmer for 10-15 min.
Pour the soup into two small ramekins.
Put the cooked bread on top of the soup
Shred the cheese on top of the bread in a copious amount
Broil the soup in the ramekins on high in a middle rack for 3-5 min, until the cheese is bubbly and browned
Let cool for at least 10 minutes, and serve

The Hadian Juche News Network
The expected arrival of Valcourian diplomats should be within a couple of days. The beloved Hadian Imperial Advisory has booked the entire Juche Tower Hotel in Cheldian City to accommodate our foreign visitors. The Hadian Imperial Advisor of Foreign Affairs, Oleg Bychkov and along with Hadian's Imperial Advisor of Internal Affairs, Mikhail Viktorovich will be the first to greet our welcoming guest. It is expected our glorious and great God-Emperor Jon will attend to meet the Valcourian diplomats within the couple of days after their arrival.
The Hadian Government plans to discuss diplomacy such as embassies and Arctic research of ice cores with Valcourian diplomats along with Hadian access to Valcourian ports to continue Arctic research within their sphere of the world. Our beloved Juche Empire are descendents of a God race that once lived in Hyperborea a land beyond the North Winds. Current Ice core samples have given us a window into the past of our superiority amongst the other races.
**(Note to those following: Hadian has found nothing but just ice but will go to any length to prove they are the Master Race in the world. Including false and out right lies to fit their narrative of Hadianism.)**

Murder in Hesoluo
A Kistolian named Ensda Fensei came into his home in Hesoluo to find his wife and 2 kids murdered inside his living room. All of the bodies were chopped into pieces. He called law enforcement, and they arrived a couple minutes later. When the police arrived, they found Ensda dead in the same room. The police searched the house and found no one. The KNDI is searching for the culprit. Kistolia has stated that Hesoluo is now under CRA level 3

The Acriaen leader came out to say, “Even though our great countries are at war, I would like to put my respects to the people who have perished in this time. Somebody should never have to die this way.” Somebody in the audience rolled their eyes, in which they were taken to the back and killed (though nobody knows that in IC).
The Veritian Emperor has passed a new legislation concerning the VNDF. It reads as follows:
'The VNDF (Veritian National Defence Force) shall become the new Counter-Terrorist Force of The Veritian Empire. It will replace the VSF (Veritian Special Forces) by orders of The Veritian Emperor himself, Jaimev Nikolaevych Restez.
Article:
Section 1. The VSF shall be disbanded on the 1rst of May, 2021. The most elite soldiers in the unit will go on to serve in the VNDF, while the rest will either be relieved from duty or will also go on to serve in the VNDF if they wish to.
Section 2. Those in the VSF who are relieved from duty will be able to live in a small apartment bought for by The Veritian Governmen if they wish to. This means that The Veritian Government will pay all the rent and taxes for the individual until they find a suitable job. If they aren't able to find a sustainable job in a year, then the Government will forced to cancel all its rent and tax payments for the individual, meaning they themselves will have to pay the rent and taxes.
Section 3. The VNDF will officially become the Counter-Terrorist Force of The Veritian Empire on the 1rst of May 2021.
Section 4. The VNDF will be made up of the most elite soldiers in The Veritian Military which have been picked by top ranking military officials and soldiers from the VSF who wished to be part of the VNDF will also serve in the unit.
Section 5. The VNDF will take part in a number of key operations including counter-terrorism, hostage rescue, direct action and covert reconnaissance.
Section 6. The VNDF will be commanded by General Ivan Victor Artimovich, who will have complete command of the unit. The VNDF will have ten operational squadrons, each one consisting of one hundred men. Each squadron will be commanded by a Major. A squadron will also be devided into five troops, each one being commanded by a Captain.'

Fluenza Outbreak in Western Kistolia
The origins unknown, a strain of Fluenza called Klerisi Fluenza, after the origin of the strain. Being contained well, Kistolia notes that countries don’t have to limit travel to the Eastern side of the Mountains, as Kistolia has already limited travel. The Executive Health Ministrate has stated, “I will raise the CRA to Level 4 past the western side of the mountains. We have no idea how far the virus has spread, but we can’t take chances” Mire information coming later.
