Thanks.

I think in the US this person would be below the minimum height/weight requirement (he's 5'1 and ~90lbs in English measurement) to join the army. The navy might take him but I think mostly likely is the air force, where large people are often uncomfortable in small cockpits so being little might be an advantage. If you want to make the person exceptional, then perhaps they'd qualify to be a test pilot for experimental aircraft or spacecraft.

Raskana wrote:Why does everybody assume its the USA?, I never said that, sorry but its confusing. :)

Anyhow, I guess that makes sense, I was thinking a pilot or a staff officer, since is good at managing lists in his head.

No, I'm sorry, I just assumed you're American. The thought never crossed my mind you might not lol.

I never mentioned the USA though, but I got what I need, thanks, I guess.

I know, sorry . . . I knew you didn't mean the US because otherwise you'd have measured in inches and pounds, but that's where my experience is.

Some things you might consider, though, is where this takes place, what kind of conflict it is, and why the person is so small. If the book takes place in a brutal ground war then your little guy might be drafted into the army regardless of his size or abilities just because they need someone, anyone, everyone who can hold a rifle; naval or air power might be irrelevant. If he's small but otherwise perfectly healthy then he might be exceptionally quick and agile; if he's small because of some childhood illness or injury then maybe he would end up as a brilliant officer and tactician, or piloting a drone from behind a desk.

Check out the Miles Vorkoaigan Series by Louis McMaster Bujold; it's a science fiction series about a young man crippled from an early age who grows up to lead a powerful group of mercenaries.

It is ok, no biggie. :)

Well, he is drafted in a war, and so far he is being used as a staff officer, as an assistent for the commanding officer.

But yes, he will be drafted for combat duty as well, I am just looking for a suitable role.

Its a alternate history thing. :)

Thanks though.

Army might take em if they lied on their application but they'd probably work the hell out of them to put on weight

Based on your character's build, they might be good as a tank driver or a different tank crewman. I guess they could be a Cavalry Scout too, but in real life they would best fit the tanker profile. Tankers are usually pretty short, as they can fit in the tight, cramped space of a tank interior. It really depends on where you want to take it.

Good idea, I LOVE tanks, and it would really fit the story, thanks, I only need a reason for him to be transferred.

I love tanks too! A possible reason would be a lack of available crewmen so the Army would transfer him there.
