Region: The Southern Lands

The Dragon Empire of United States wrote:I think that we just need to make some of the rules clearer and have a community wide way of checking everyone so that we can all call bs against each other. Maybe a vote on it? But this region has had such care and time put into it that I don't think we should abandon it. It is also established, and while it has some inactive players in it, it will draw in more people.

Every region has its problem, but this one has much less than most regions. Never have I seen this region come to full blown name calling and slandering. We've always taken our time and worked things out reasonably. I would hate to see this Region go to waste.

(If we decide to reset RP, and if TK doesn't want to, I'll make the next map.)

P.S. let's just say that my war against the USSR came to a white peace.

I don't want this Region to die either, but the problems go much deeper than a lack of clarity around the rules. This region cannot survive in it's current form, and there are two main reasons for this:

1: Core members are leaving, and we can't replace them. 3 of the 6 "new" nations have been people that I knew IRL and persuaded to join the game. So far, only 1 of the "new" nations (Synodos) has properly and continuously participated in the game, and even then, he hasn't been active for nearly a month now (guessing with that one). Xeola has somewhat contributed, but hasn't actually performed any combat in the war that they started, only covered some small internal affairs that don't really fit with the war. The final new member CTE'd. We aren't getting any new "core" members, and the old ones are, let's face it, starting to grow up. The USSR put it best in a Discord announcement:

I think it's time that I left this server, this RP, everything.

The signs were so clear... everyone was growing up, but I'm still staying in this roleplay that's been on for about 2 years now, and what have I gained? Friends, yes, but also I've lost a lot of time.

I saw it so early. People leaving. First one being Aussie when she left to her university. Now Abstraction and Loco are gone, two of my closest online friends. Chamois and Sonic too. They're moving on. They're leading lives. They're growing up. I'm still stuck in this loop of back-and-forth nonsensical roleplay.

Don't get me wrong, I had fun. It was a dream come true to me. Pretending to be a country, trying to feel how nation leaders felt. But I'm 18 now. I'm practically the eldest here and I still act like a child in this respect. Worse so, I've ruined my reputation with some of you with some of my "jokes." I have studies to complete, but each day when I return home, I check what's going on here. Just like what I did back in high school.

I need to grow up; I need to move on.

I want to let you know I've made some dear memories with you people; How I and Loco started it all back in 2021, up until now. We've had our ups and downs together. I'll hold them dear to my heart, but I need to grab more of a hold on my life.

I personally think that TSL can likely overcome these issues, and a WW2 might just help. Speaking of which,

2: We've RP'd ourselves into a corner. As far as I can see, the world has become divided into two main factions, both lead by superpowers, and a war between them is inevitable. If either side wins, they will achieve a global hegemony, and the chaos that once drove this region will cease. That's why I think we'll need to start anew. And when I say start anew, I don't mean we need to scrap everything. Remember when the regional map was made up of islands? I don't. We changed the map and semi-reset the RP before I joined, and I only know about this because reading the RMB is more interesting than schoolwork, but I think we could do the same kind of semi-reset, resetting everyone's power levels but not needing to start from scratch.

Cool, I just reach 3 billion

I just wanna jump far enough to finish most of my research projects, so 1-2 years is enough for me. If anyone else needs more time though, I do have a couple ideas for what my nation could do.
