Just put up a sign that says "(Name of local nature reserve/park) is not responsible for anysnake getting lost so please ensure you don't stray from paths if you don't know what you're doing" at all the common places snakes go near the wilderness. Deflect blame and everything will be fine. I'm pretty sure that's how politics work

Or you could deforest all the pesky areas snakes get lost at but I must warn you that if you overshoot the air won't be clean anymore
