[Dr. Kelariko gazes through the one-way viewing screen of Cell Block C aboard the Nahum, peering through the fog of thaumic smoke to make out the blurred shapes of twisted and mangled bodies, all that remained of the batch of Masoperdermites that had sought refuge there. He sighs in disappointment, then turns to one of his researchers.]
Kelariko: Any life signs?
Researcher: None yet, sir. We're stilling scanning though, give us some-
[A hacking, choking cough, muffled by the partition, turns both men's attentions back to the viewing screen. Slowly, but surely, in sudden and jerking motions, the emaciated body of a young woman gets to her feet, her head tilted at an odd angle as she observes the carnage around her.
