VICE PRESIDENT SHOT AT IN BARCELAND, BAWERIA; TWO DEAD AND 10 INJURED

BARCELAND, BAWERIA - A horrifying scene happened earlier today, when Vice President Anna Raṡínowá was shot at by apparent assassin in downtown Barceland, capital of Baweria. Thankfully and mainly due to the quick response of the President Service agents, the gunman was quickly shot and killed on the spot. 5 total shots were heard and they all missed the Vice President. As of our current information given to us by the Press Bureau of Morrawia, two dead on the scene were two President Service agents, who shielded Madam Vice President. Other ten people, including state officials and the general public have various injuries ranging from mild to severe.

The whole incident happened in front of the Bawerian State Capitol building not half an hour ago on her second day of negotiations with the Baweria Governor Kábelowá, according to our sources. National House, nor the President has not put up any statement at this moment, though they confirmed the President is heading to Baweria right now. Also collaborated by our sources in the National House, Federal Marshals from 4 surrounding districts have been dispatched as well as an unspecified number of FIB and Homeland Security agents. At this time, reports disprove the theory of more accomplices. Local law enforcement have already closed off the area around the Capitol and is actively collaborating with the federal forces.

This attack comes after the last one, aimed at then-President Slawinský in 2021, which luckily did not have any casualties and the President himself walked away with only minor injuries, not to mention almost 15 attempts at assassinating public officials just the year after and 17 in 2023. Many political experts including the Interior Minister Iwan Bartoṡ say the rate of politically motivated violence is steadily growing in Morrawia at an alarming rate.

Many politicians of all parties have been quick to condemn the incident, amongst them both Senate and House Speakers, leaders of major parties, individual Congressmen and Congresswomen and state and other politicians around the country.

"Madam Vice President is my political rival, not my enemy," Governor Kábelowá told media, "different political allegiance gives not one person right to do something like that. I see the attempt on her life as cowardly and I am happy the man has been dealt with. I hope to begin meetings with her soon. Baweria´s thoughts and prayers are with the agents who put their life for the Mrs. Raṡínowá."
