Some thoughts and reality on "National Safe Day."

Always safely store your firearms. Firearms should be unloaded, have safety locks in places, and, most importantly, should be kept out of reach of children at all times.

A secured firearm is also secured from the owner should the need for it arise. How about the growing number of teens and preteens who succesfully used firearms to defend their homes and loved ones?

Fort verden wrote:Enquire about firearm safety in other households
If your child is going over to a friend’s house, call ahead and ask the parents/guardians about firearms and how they have stored them. If their safety measures meet the standards, only then should you allow your child to go. It is better to be safe than sorry.

In this day and age it is not wise to discuss one's home defense with some Karen who might later decide to rat you out to others asking the same question. The correct answer is to explain that the presence or absence of any home defense measures is not for casual discussion. Then tell them it would be best if their kids didn't come around anymore.

Educate and Empower others to be SAFE.

That is the only part of this noise that is more or less accurate. Children should be given hands on firearm instruction from a very young age. That education should be regularly reinforced.

Lets see now... What else...

Fort verden wrote:Five Children Injured for Every Child Killed
For every child death due to firearms, five children are injured non-fatally.

Can you say gang violence. Chicago?

Fort verden wrote:The Second Leading Cause for Childrens’ Deaths
In a 2018 study, it is revealed that, after car crashes, firearms are the second leading cause of children’s deaths.

What study? However, even if they do manage to pull a study out of their ear, once again: Gangs, Chicago, Detroit...

Fort verden wrote:What is the golden rule of gun safety?
According to the Washington Gun Law website, you should “Always keep the gun pointed in a safe direction. Always keep your finger straight and off the trigger until you are ready to shoot. Always keep the gun unloaded until you are ready to use it. Never point the gun at anything you don’t intend to destroy.”

A glimmer of truth shines through a side of fertilizer. An unloaded gun is useless. Unless you can convince your home invaders to wait while you load up a magazine and slap it in the gun.

Fort verden wrote:Can a gun fire without pulling the trigger?
There is always a possibility that the gun can fire at any time, even if you haven’t touched the trigger. So always make sure to only turn the safety ‘off’ if you are ready to fire.

Bull5#!+! A well maintained firearm will not fire unless the trigger is pulled. Who writes this garbage?

Go out and buy another gun. Then teach your child the proper care, feeding and use of that weapon.
