*After numerous outreach sessions, the Academy of South Baban Cinema and Television (ASBCT) announced today that it has created a new 'Global Film Award' to reward the best international films of each year. The GFA will be presented as part of the ASBCT’s yearly South Baban Screen Awards ceremony and reflects their attempts to recognize the multinational nature and impact of the cinematic landscape. Its rules call for the creation of a 20-member 'ASBCT Global Jury' consisting of film critics and figures who are “culturally and/or industrially significant.” The new global award will be first presented as part of the 2021 South Baban Screen Awards, officially known as the 42nd South Baban Screen Awards, taking place on 10 December 2021. The eligibility period for the 42nd South Baban Screen Awards remains the same, from 1 September 2020 to 31 August 2021*
