Waupun Island - So I'm not removed from SR

The bright lights of Imperialis penetrated the relatively dark office of the Emperor, with him sitting in his chair and rubbing his eyes to stay awake. It was almost one in the morning. Charles watched the two men in front of him present their unending documents to him but the only thoughts he had was that he just wished to go to sleep. However, the state ultimately came first and she didn't rest for any man, not even him. The two men in the chairs opposite to him were Jonathan Marchand who was Minister of the Economy and Trade and Félix Richardson who was Minister of Development. This meeting had been going on for hours now, talking about the general state of the economy for everything inside the Empire. The raspy voice of Jonathan suddenly brought him to attention.

"Your majesty, I have been thinking about our economic model recently. And I would like to propose something to further improve our economy" he blandly stated to Charles. Leaning back in his chair, he thought about it for a moment. "Sure, go ahead. I'll listen to it" Charles said back to him. Abruptly, he pulled out a large document labelled Inquiry into Productivity and Economic Growth. "You may read it in your own time, but the important thing in this document is that there is considerable evidence that our state-planned economy and our Autarky policy is limiting the growth of the economy," Jonathan said bluntly. Félix suddenly raised his voice, "so we wish to loosen regulations around the economy and allow larger private corporations to form inside our country. This will be critical to improve productivity and increase competition within the economy" he affirmed. Charles thought for a moment about the possibility of it. "Surely though it will just fall through Parliament, only two political parties will probably support your policy: the UEP and NLP" he replied. "We could probably get the support of more parties if you openly support these reforms, then at least the Loyalists and the Technocrat wing within the VP will support this, giving it more than the 50% of votes it needs" Jonathan quickly responded. Charles had begun to think, the economy could undergo some reforms to allow greater economic prosperity, he stood up. "Sure, I will support these proposals to allow the economy to be partly privatised. Hopefully, the other parties will support it".
