Board of Works

The Board of Works has announced it would make plans to construct a $120 million QSP solar park complex in the Sonid Left Banner, as the country aims to increase its energy security and use public works as a means to curb joblessness.

As part of a drive to become 100% energy sufficient, the plan was unveiled last week and was granted funding by the Board of Works. Approximately 35.8% of electricity comes from renewable energy, primarily hydropower power, although the Qing's excessive reliance on fossil fuels may leave it vulnerable in the event of an economic shock. Studies have shown that it is technically feasible to provide 100% of the electricity demand by renewable power without risking with shortages in energy supply. The global full-scale adoption of renewable energy will provide the Qing with long-term strategic benefits, as it can lessen dependence on foreign natural gas, oil, and coal.

The new Solar Park, named the Sonid Left Banner Solar Park, will provide energy in the nearby area via use of high efficiency transmission lines. It will consist of 50,000 state-of-the-art solar panels, and is capable of generating 4 MWh of electricity per year. Construction is set to begin next month following a groundbreaking ceremony, and it will be completed in 3 years.
