Sequoyah - A house divided! Who will the TCN recognize? Response to the TCN Res. #26
After the treaty of Freemont [see "Sequoyan Frontier Wars" on Wiki] was signed, Admiral William Adama became interim President of Sequoyah while a new Sequoyan constitution is being drawn up to ensure the rights of the tribals will be protected and that wars between Sequoyah and the Tribals will end. However, there are some who believe President Stanford is still the rightful President, overthrown by an illegitimate coup. While Liberals are supporting Adama's interim Presidency (as are the tribal nations), the old Government retains some positions overseas, despite President Stanford possibly being tried for treason and crimes against humanity for his role in bringing back tribal slavery. One Stanford official who remains in power is Secretary of State Augustus Seward, who represents Sequoyah in the TCN.
Council floor
Secretary Seward votes AGAINST the resolution, stating "those who are tried for crimes should be tried in the nation where the crime occured to ensure justice is not violated by foreign interests." However, as he sits down, two Sequoyan staffers, dressed in military uniforms, stand up.
"President Stanford's government is illegitimate. I have been authorized by Admiral and President William Adama to vote for this resolution, as it will ensure justice is not usurped by corrupt powers in less developed nations. As we saw in the case of Alyosha Karamazov, local corruption in nations like Sequoyah will prevent war criminals- like President Stanford- from facing justice. We ask that you recognize our vote as the legitimate vote of the Sequoyan delegation."
With two votes, one for and one against, the TCN faces a decision: Do they recognize the vote from Stanford's delegation, or Adama's?
