The Levantine Government has never trusted its neighbors, often threatening them with invasion and armed conflict. The positioning of hundreds of thousands of troops and scores of tanks on the border with Zanzimibia should have been a sign that the Urabi Regime was about to strike.
Levantine-Zanzimibian Border
In the early hours of the morning, the first shots of an uncertain conflict are fired. Long months of scouring terrain via satellite imagery has given Tell Ayn an accurate picture of its target. Levantine Generals are able to determine troop concentrations, military installations, and border security. While intelligence gathering was conducted, the necessary forces were positioned in key areas for the planned assault.
At 3:12 AM Unistan Standard Time, the first strike begins. Missile silos and mobile launchers arrayed across the burder pump scores of anti-radiation missiles into the skies above. These deadly cruise missiles will seek out radar and communications centers, hopefully spelling doom for many Zanzimibian military bases and slowing down any response. A second volley coming from the silos consists of precise cruise missiles almost exclusively aimed at enemy air bases. Wisps of smoke from these deadly missives litter the sky.
Moments after the last missiles are fired, a massive artillery barrage erupts from the Levantine border. Long range artillery pieces, rocket launchers, mortars, and mobile units train their guns on any known military target within their range. Thousands of shells put an end to the quiet peace of the Unistan night.
3:22 AM... Airbases on the Levantine side of the border bustle with activity as stealth jets take off. Squadrons consisting of modern fighters and attack air craft cross over into hostile air space with the intent of finishing off remaining enemy military installations, primarily air bases. Tell Ayn's Generals planned for the elimination of the Zanzimibian air force early in the game. Meanwhile, deeper into Levantin and safe from counterstrikes, supersonic stealth bombers take off and head in the direction of enemy urban centers. Their goal will be to strike industrial targets and damage the Zanzimibian war machine.
Northern Unistan Coast
Around the same time as the first cruise missiles are launched, sleek warships under Levantine Task Force Sword slip out of their harbors and move east on Zanzimibia. Attack submarines, destroyers, combat ships, missile cruisers, mighty aircraft carriers, and a few ballistic missile subs assemble into their groups and prepare for a coordinated strike. The Naval forces in this theatre are commanded by Admiral Al-Misr, the man who sent 1/3 of the Kilkiran Navy to the bottom of the Levantine Sea.
The carrier groups move swiftly and stealthily, hoping to avoid resistance. Air support is present in the form of fighters and interceptors prowling the skies for incoming hostiles, while submarines move ahead. If any hostile craft are present, the subs will move in to soften up resistance.
