It is a while ago, but when the Imperator class battleships were comissioned, a - now defunct - arms manufacturing company was ordered to produce 489 mm (19.25") shells for its "Langerhans" main gun batteries. This calibre had not been previously used in the Imperium. Due to a simple transcription error, the company produced several thousand 498 mm (19.61") shells before the mistake was noticed.

Ultimately, a bureaucrat decided to order a 498 mm gun as well, to make use of the shells. Several coastal artillery turrets were built with this calibre. They are still in use.
