Only 1 % of difference in the genetic sequence. That's the genetic different between a chimpanzee using a stick to pick up ants to a human creating a symphony. What about improving the odds? What about a 2 %? A 10 %? Being able to reach complexity of thought as far of reach as Quantum Mechanics is for a puppy. Or an ant.

But, wait. Why remain limited to flesh? What about the digital? Being able to think several orders of times faster, (millions) than an organic? Being able to perceive the full electromagnetic spectrum? Being able to watch the fantastic fireworks of Gamma-ray burst that illuminate the universe? Being able to ride on the solar winds? Surf on the incredible dense atmosphere of gas giant and dive there? Swim in the dark underground oceans of their orbiting moons? To be able to go in the "nude" and ride the universe watching the millennia pass traveling near light speed until reaching a black hole and play in the accretion disk.

Until many aeons later you decide to settle down. In a nice star system. You begin with a moon and transform all of it in computronium to support your thoughts process until you make it into a Moon-Brain. But you feel lonely, so you terraform the surface and make an intelligent species.

But it is not enough, you need to expand. Next is the Gas Giant converted in a Jupiter Node, jumping your power several orders of magnitude. With several worlds for your companion species orbiting you. Until finally settling for dismantling the entire system and becoming a Matrioshka Brain having at last a nice place to call home, because you always have been a homely person that simply want to live a peaceful but interesting life with no excessive ambitions.

That's true liberation.
