Jaish al-Tahrir declares allegiance to the Islamic State of Iraq and Kurdistan

The remnants of the Sahuri terrorist group, Jaish al-Tahrir, have declared allegiance to the Islamic State of Iraq and Kurdistan (ISIK), according to a video clip posted into it's official and unofficial social media accounts. In the video, Hassan al-Hamada, the leader of the terrorist group, pledged allegiance to ISIK and vowed to "return to Sahuria to destroy the occupying Rafidhas ("those who reject", derogatory term about Shia's used by Sunnis) and free the oppressed Sunni Muslims of the region". An official from the General Intelligence Directorate (Mukhabarat) said that the total number of Jaish al-Tahrir troops that have managed to make their way into ISIK territory is believed to be no larger than 150 individuals, including Hassan al-Hamada.

Immediately after the announcement, a car bomb was detonated in a marketplace in the city of Tariha, Nesarbin governorate. Four people died, and twenty were wounded. Local Republican Police units cordoned off a number of streets after the attack, to deter any further altercations. The Sahuri Ministry of Defence and Ministry of Internal Affairs held a joint statement claiming that they believe the attack to have been carried out by the Jaish al-Tahrir, and that Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps units would be deployed into the city to hunt down any remaining Jaish al-Tahrir cells.

General al-Tahan, the Sahuri Minister of Defence, continued after the joint statement and declared war on the ISIK, citing legitimate and distressing security concerns that the Islamic Republic had, especially after the Jaish al-Tahrir pledged allegiance.

Sahuri Republican Air Force strikes targets across the border

In an apparent response to the Jaish al-Tahrir terrorist group's move to pledge allegiance to the Islamic State of Iraq and Kurdistan (ISIK), the Sahuri Republican Air Force has struck three different positions just on the Sahuri-Iraqi border. So far, the reports indicate that the towns of Rabia, Sinjar and Qa'im have been struck, with the town of Qa'im in the South receiving a brunt of the strikes. These strikes mark the first military operations against the Islamic State of Iraq and Kurdistan that Sahuria has done.

Unverified reports have also claimed that forces belonging to the Sahuri Republican Army have been seen moving eastward. Photographs that were supposedly showing the 1st Armored Brigade moving towards al-Kherala were released by the Sahuri Progress newspaper, but the Ministry of Defence refused to release any comment regarding these rumours.
