Region: The East Pacific

It began on a cold, quiet night. Since joining the Earth Federation and eventually the Galactic Confederacy, Russia had experienced a rather prosperous and peaceful three thousand years, with a stable economy and happy population. But in the year of 2018, all of that changed when it happened.

The first invasion of Earth by a non-Human power.

Russian 1: What a good night. You can clearly see the city lights on Luna from here...

Visitor: But rather cold, don't you think? It's freezing...

Russian 2: It's Siberia, friend. If you wanted warm, you should've tried the Florida Archipelago!

*Laughter*

Visitor: Yes, very- wait. What is that?

The two Russians looked in the direction that the Venusian tourist was pointing, and they could see a glowing green object in the distance.

Russian 2: That is odd indeed. Do you have those binoculars from earlier?

Russian 1: Yes...

He took them out of his parka and aimed the device at the green object. Seen close up, it was a glowing green portal.

Russian 1: Odd...it appears to be some kind of flat wormhole...almost like a green version of the small ones that the Confederacy uses. Just without a framework around it.

Visitor: How is that possible? I thought you needed something around both ends of a wormhole to keep it stable.

Visitor 1: And it is completely stationary in relation to the ground...if it is a wormhole, it is moving with Earth and its rotation.

As he continued looking at the wormhole, small objects started flooding out of it. As they stood on the hill, they could hear a faint chanting carried to them in the frigid Siberian night...

Kek...Kek...Kek...Kek...

Visitor: This might be a problem.

Spacecraft came out of the wormhole first, and immediately began a direct ascent to space. Only stabilizing their orbits once reaching a high altitude, they began firing on every space installation they could see. Passenger ships, communication satellites, cargo drones, many such ships were all destroyed by the invaders. In response, the automated defense grid orbiting Earth began firing on the ships, destroying some before they even opened fire. The area within Luna's orbit filled with crisscrossing weapons fire and a variety of spacecraft.

To replace their lost comrades, more ships began flooding out of the wormhole and ascending into the sky, targeting the defenses. In western Siberia itself, hordes of ground vehicles, infantry, and aircraft started coming out in a second wave. Despite Stellar Colonies having the technological advantage, very little military assets were actually on Earth itself, despite extensive fortifications scattered thinly throughout the system. Orbital weapons had to be modified and dialed down before firing onto the occupied territories, delaying the heavy response to the invasion. In the early hours of the attack, a lot of the defenders were normal citizens using their own hand weapons against infantry and assisting in the installation of weapons on nonmilitary vehicles. But despite the brave shows of resistance, there simply weren't enough military assets suitable for planetary combat, and considerable reinforcements could take over a day to arrive from other systems.

And by that time, Russia and the surrounding nations could be either occupied or fried by orbital weapons, the Confederacy forced to deploy them onto the fragile planet.

So via the Sonoma, a request for reinforcements was relayed to TAMDEG.

The tourist and his two Russian hosts were driving in a car, heading directly away from the wormhole with the Russians discussing what was happening.

Tourist: Hey...I think that something is coming. Shh!

The two Russians quieted down with him, listening intently at a low whining sound.

Russian 2: That almost sounds like a mosqui-

*THUMP*

Tourist: AH!

Russian 1: What was that?

As the three of them slowly realized what had happened, the windshield was smashed open. The transparent material shattered over the interior of the car, but fulfilled its designed ability to fracture into harmless pieces.

Tourist: They must've flown an aircraft over and then-

At that moment, a large cartoonish frog stuck its head through the broken windshield and quietly hissed a word.

Pepe Trooper: Keeeeeeeeeeek...

The tourist and Russians: AAAAGGGGGHHHHH!
