Riotania wrote:Riotania is willing to supply a platoon of specially trained penguins to operate test flights, and thus minimise the risk to human life during research phases of the mission. Our specially trained penguins are of a high standing in terms of intelligence, and have also been psychologically evaluated and found to be suicidal; thus any concern about their welfare should be nullified as they wish to die anyway.

Can we import some of these Special Penguins? we wish to conduct some experiments.

The united provinces of serbania wrote:The Serbanian National Space and Aeronautics Agency has been secretly planning and has finally 2 minutes ago, launched a manned mission to mars. Astronaut Ximhart, Toghrim, Hamarach, and the first female Austronaut, Keniaha Votnosau, have been successfully launched into the ISS. After 72 Hours, they will head to the Serbanian National Space Experimental and Residential Craft (SNSERC Bot II) And from there in 33 days, will reach martian soil. We already have a base there. They will be the First Serbanians and UK Region Members to reach Martian Soil. We expect many great discoveries out of this exploration and we are celebrating this news. President Vortchov Andravde said that, "This was a barrier, but we, took on effort, and tore down that wall! We have been sucessful on something no nation tried and that tried failed. We have brought the United Kingdom, and our Fatherland into the spotlight!" The SNSAA has installed video camaras on the whole trip and on the base, with audio and 4K Ultra HD live filming camaras, so that the Serbanians can enjoy from the confort of their home, the beuty of Space, and Mars.

All this talk of space exploration, has triggered the interest of Fayrcrest, who, in the past few days has initiated the Fayrcrest Space Program, with a ready shuttle for space exploration...

We'd provisionally be OK with this so long as you're not planning to turn them into an army and send them back our way.

Construction of the Janfortian moon base has commenced construction is estimated to be finished in 2 months time by then a 4th and 5th shuttle shall be sent both containing military personnel.

Gebeorg is glad to see nations coming together - space is a big place, it requires co-operation. We're sure the penguins from Riotania will be more than useful in this endeavour too.

We swear we will never engage in penguin related warfare with you ☺

The penguins are positively looking forward to it. Our chief penguin interpreter says he's never seen them so excited. Is this the stage where we have to mention that all the controls in the test rockets will have to be fitted for use by flippers? Only a minor adjustment, I'm sure.

To better protect our assets in space Janfort shall create the SDP (Space Defense Pact) any nation that would wish to join please notify me. Please let it be known this pact is not a pact that shall enter an offensive war against anyone just a pact for defense of our assets in space.

We are willing to sign up to the pact. I'm assuming this is a non aggression pact limited to bases on the moon yes?

That would be correct until nations within the pact would expand elsewhere for example mars.

Ayesland will join the Space Defence Pact too. We don't intend to enter into an offensive war in any case; we only defend our assets and those of our allies.

Are these emperor, brush-tailed, little, crested or banded penguins? We just need to make sure that the allocated space is suitable for their sizes.

Bassein trials

The International Military Tribunal has concluded the trial of captured fascist rebels from Free lancashire. The judges from The united provinces of serbania, Potomackia, United Nationalist Republic, Gebeorg,Riotania and Free lancashire took part. The Tribunal sat at our capital, Bassein.

Of the 20 000 captured rebels, 15 000 were combatants who were found to be coerced into joining rebel forces. After consultation with the Attorney General of Free lancashire, they were returned to their home country where they will be rehabilitated and re-absorbed into the civil society.

4000 were found to be guilty of various war crimes, including killing civilians or prisoners, torture, destroying civilian property, taking hostages, perfidy, rape, using child soldiers, pillaging, refusing quarter, and serious violations of the principles of distinction and proportionality. They were handed down sentences from 10-20 years depending on the seriousness of their crimes.

1000 were thought to be ‘controlling minds’ of the rebel fascist movement and were given life sentences with hard labour and visitation restrictions.

No one was executed as capital punishment has been abolished in Ayesland.

The Chief Justice of Ayesland thanked the visiting jurists. Another banquet was held. The top legal minds from the participating countries were found judging the relative merits of Ayeslandic wines and beers. Rulings are expected imminently.

The visiting heads of states of The united provinces of serbania, Potomackia were welcomed with a 21-gun salute and a guard of honour. A summit meeting is being held in the seaside resort of Sandoway.

Recent reports in Marajo say that the second phase of the construction of the Kagoia Xoiakahai, the Marajoan space station, has commenced. Robotic arms have been launched into space, and are currently assembling other parts of the space station together. It will be the first known space station in the United Kingdom to utilize artificial gravity in the form of centrifugal force, as well as the first to utilize nuclear fusion and advanced forms of known quantum mechanics to fuse atoms together and create new elements. This could provide the station with unlimited energy and resources. Kagoia Xoiakahai will be utilized not only as a laboratory, but as the world's first urban settlement in space as well.

Your nation's intelligence agency has found that the Marajoan government is planning on building more copies of the space station, and that it is working on macroscopic quantum teleportation to instantly transport goods and people between itself and its space stations.

Can we have some penguins? We will have them as scientists at the SNSAA.

Yes

Only emperor penguins were found to be responsive to training, so please work on clearance of five feet. Some of our emperor penguins are surprisingly tall.

The penguins have been consulted, and seem enthusiastic about the prospect of becoming scientists. They will insist on being given formal titles suited to their role, and the provision of specially tailored lab coats.

Gebeorg would like to suggest a merger of operations and co-operation never seen before. We suggest that all space programmes should be under one organisation: The Joint Nations Space Programme (The 'JNSP').
We propose that each nation provides funds for programmes, will all be involved in missions, launches, and the like, and will all provide grounds for operations and research.
To elaborate on the last point, each nation will provide an area of land which would belong to the JNSP - like an embassy. These may be launch sites, or research centres, etc. These sites will have legal protections in the same sort of way as embassies, to protect staff, documents and intelligence, and so forth.
We hope this would make on-going co-operation more formal. Gebeorg would like to hear from all those nations with any ideas or views that have on this.

Fayrcrest and Ayesland

We have a very advanced space programme and are happy to send experts if needed. We are also willing to match the generous contribution offered by The Great Southern Highlands as a gesture of goodwill.
