Senate passes resolution in support of a referendum on independence in Rogatica
The upper chamber of Parliament made a bold move today and passed a draft of legislation with a 2/3 majority, calling for the government of the Republic Of Srpska And Herzeg-Bosnia to allow for a referendum on independence to be held in the autonomous subdivision of Rogatica to allow for the right to self-determination, as stated in the bill: "the right to self-determination is a fundamental human right for residents of any sovereign state or a division within."
Prime Minister Caruana (C/MT-01) rejected the draft of legislation but Senate Leader Abelard Wagner (L/Vaud-Est) held a vote to override his veto three minutes after the Prime Minister transmitted the veto back to him. Many Conservative Senators tried to filibuster the override vote but it failed after the Leader invoked a closure of debate vote, which passed.

1rst Draugr Regiment, Company A, High Altitude long-duration Insertion Jump,
It was still dark on the ground, but at 40,000 feet it was morning the sun looked as if it was just peeking over the distant horizon. A dozen soldiers in a baggy jumpsuit, parachutes and gear bags that were almost as heavy as their body weight shuffled to the door ten miles away a second transport was slightly above their altitude, ten miles beyond it a third transport. as one the men on all three aircraft began to step off the rear ramp and into the thin brutally cold air.
A thousand Kilometers away a very attentive set of eyes watched the scene, then glance to the dozen or so screens on the wall in front of him. The compound was surrounded by very watchful eyes. and the view from each of the Aptrgangr watching the camp was now projected two meters high on the walls of the command center.
there weren't any fanfares, or any rousing speeches, Not President giving a grim and solemn speech. The scene was almost deathly quiet as the dots on the map representing the Draugr assault team converged on the location of the camp.
The violence that followed was short, sharp and overwhelming. The parachutists landed both inside and around the camp, the sentries already taken out by the marksmen in the surrounding countryside. The sound of submachine guns and assault rifles cracked and growled around the compound as three dozen parachutists entered the buildings, on the screens in the command center the helmet and body cameras of the commandoes were displayed assault in real-time.
as often as not a fist to the face, a boot to the groin or crowbar ended the encounter. Guards were overpowered, neutralized, or physically wrestled to the ground, then quickly searched and hogtied. Ten minutes passed as the assault force focused on the major objective, the prisoners holding area. The Aptrgangr outside kept reinforcements at bay with precision rifles, heavy machine gunfire, and more than a few shoulder-fired rocket-propelled grenades.
At fifteen minutes past six local time the air exploded with sonic booms and the ear-splitting roar of 35mm cannons, as four A-9 ground attack fighters joined the fight, a half dozen F-7 Fighters took over the local airspace sending two MIGS flaming to the ground as missiles hit anti-aircraft radar and missile sites within range of the camp.
At twenty minutes after seven, two companies, of Draugr, and an airmobile armored force owned the compound and several surrounding hills. The sound of gunfire and heavy weapons filled the air as Valkiir's expeditionary forces fought to keep control of the compound, the small town adjoining it, and several fortified positions covering he road into an out of the area.
At Eight fifteen three companies of Draugr and Aptrgangr were surrounded and under heavy air and ground attack as the Communist militias responded with surprising speed and ferocity.

"damn kid yer fu...." the joke was cut off by the scene switching back to the studio.

Newly empowered left in Assembly pushes through more landmark educational legislation, introduced by former PM Dupont
Former Prime Minister Éric Dupont (L/AV-06) is re-entering the political arena with a bang as the Assembly approves the "2020 National Equal Educational Opportunity & Educator Development Bill" or abbreviated as the NEOED.
In effect beginning the 2020-21 academic year for the millions of students currently attending schools run by publicly-funded authorities, all nationally-mandated standardized testing is to be eliminated and replaced with nationally-standardized achievement benchmarks used to gauge student ability. The bill also prohibits schools from using nationally-standardized achievement benchmarks to retain a student for another academic year without parental approval and consent. In the cases of retention, schools are now also mandated to provide a minimum of 3 hours of individual one-on-one specialized curriculum supplementary instruction with the retained student.
The bill provides additional funding to educational councils (school districts), especially in rural areas, to recruit new educators and retain them. The bill mandates teachers be allocated 2 fully-paid hours per working school day for professional development and curriculum development. A working school day is considered 6.5 hours on the national level but this can be longer or shorter (but no shorter than 4 hours) depending on the area.
The last provision of the bill also adds funding for institutions of higher education that are publicly funded of roughly $1 million devises per academic year per 100 students enrolled over enrollment capacity (with a cap of a school receiving only $15 million devises per academic year) in a push to lessen the strain placed on universities, especially popular public universities.
Address by General Vlado Segrt:
"At the meeting of the General Staff of the Republic Of Srpska Army, it was decided that the 14th Banja Luka Brigade should embark on the unblocking of the Allied army of Valkiir. The 5th Kozara Brigade has already moved to Trnovo. There it will meet with the Volunteer Brigade" Peka Dapcevic. The unblocking will take place from two directions. One from the direction of Trnovo and the other from the direction of Kasindol."

Republic of Medoynia Communiqué
Prime Minister Joseph Caruana | January 23, 2020
Conforming to Parliament legislation, a quota of 50 persons holding the citizenship of the Republic Of Srpska And Herzeg-Bosnia will be admitted per day into Medoynia under the M-1 visa category which grants temporary refuge for a period of 3 years, extendable by a parliamentary review of the current situation after the 3 year period.
The M-1 visa category allows holders to establish residence, gain employment, and study in Medoynia for the period of its validity. The visa also provides for a $1500 devise monthly subsidy for the first six months for its holders (single person, $3000 for a family of four, $4000 for a family of five or more) to assist in finding housing and basic expenses such as groceries.
This visa will be issued on arrival each day at any port-of-entry as long as the 50 visa per day quota has not been met already. When the quota has been met, the remaining persons can choose to apply for asylum under standard processes.
Serbian, Croatian, and Bosnian language interpreters will be stationed at the land crossings nearest to the Republic Of Srpska And Herzeg-Bosnia.
VNP leaves the Alliance for a Strong Medoynia after Parliament authorizes M-1 visas to be issued to Serbian citizens
The Veneto Nationalist Party (VNP), a pro-independence and separatist party for the province of Veneto announced it would be leaving the Alliance for a Strong Medoynia bloc in the National Assembly after legislation authored by New Movement MPs passed the Assembly with the support of many Conservatives.
The draft of legislation received approval from the Prime Minister despite himself voting against it in the Assembly and presidential assent after. The new law is expected to overwhelm border crossings in the province of Veneto as that is the closest province, over land, to the Republic Of Srpska And Herzeg-Bosnia.
Governor of Veneto, Albert Giribaldi (C) called the new law “dangerous to the residents of Veneto and places an undue burden on the resources of this province to look after non-citizens when we should be focusing on looking after our own citizens.”
Public response was in support nationally but within Veneto, opinions were divided. A poll showed that Venetians were 52% against the new law and 40% for with 8% not sure. The positive reactions were concentrated in the urban centers of Treviso, Mestre, and Trieste.
As the law takes effect immediately, the Department of Defense & National Security, in charge of border control, is relocating dozens of agents who have language proficiency in Serbian, Croatian, and Bosnian to border crossings in Veneto. There is a noticeable lack of speakers of these languages available due to the lack of language programs in the aforementioned languages in secondary schools and post secondary institutions.

Aerial footage shows caravans of Serbians heading to Medoynian border, overwhelming border checkpoints
Footage obtained by Actualités médoynais shows caravans of migrants heading to the Medoynian border early this morning after the Parliament approved a measure that set a quota of 50 persons per day to be admitted into Medoynia under M-1 temporary refuge status. The border checkpoint at Pesek, near the city of Trieste, admitted the entire national quota of 50 people at around 9:20 a.m. after it opened at 9 a.m.
When offered, around 130 people also opted to apply for asylum through normal procedures, meaning that they would be allowed into Medoynia for six months while their application would be reviewed by the Department of Foreign Affairs.
Officials worry that the checkpoint would be overwhelmed and possibly rushed and Prime Minister Caruana directed Secretary of Defense & National Security Guillaume Émery to deploy roughly 100 troops to the checkpoint to maintain order. Medoynian troops are in the UFN international territory of Slovenia, clearing a path to the checkpoint for regular travelers who hold valid Medoynian visas or are visa exempt.
The Medoynian Civil Liberties Association (MCLA) has criticized the Caruana government for not providing basic necessities and the low quota and said that "we are sending teams over into Slovenian international territory to assist migrants in completing forms and securing documents as well as distributing food, water, and more."
The MCLA also said that "for those who enter Medoynia under M-1 status or have pending refugee applications lodged, we will be assisting them in securing transport to the city of Trieste and reunification with any family members or relatives in the country."
As for now, many migrants have already started the trek to the city, stalling highways as police hold back automobile traffic. The Mayor of Trieste, Julian Campagna (L) said "Trieste welcomes everyone and the city government's Benvenuti a Medoynia program will offer resources to anyone who wishes for it."
Prime Minister Caruana is calling for both sides of the Republic Of Srpska And Herzeg-Bosnia to continue their cease-fire.

Strike against customs changes.
Following an announcement by the Ministry of the Interior about new customs regulations regarding mechanical parts, the National Mechanical Union - a member of Shtet's largest trade confederation, the Democratic Confederation of Labour - has declared a strike of over 30,000 mechanical workers.
The new regulations, which would require all mechanical parts crossing the border to be inspected and approved prior or on-site, have been deemend "unfairly invasive" and "unnecessarily damaging to the industry" by the union. The union's leadership had already sent a list of demands to the government, including the rollback of the recent changes to the customs code.
The Ministry of the Interior and the Ministry of Labour have both declared the strike to be an "overreaction" to standard and widely implemented measures, though negotiations are reportedly being planned by the Labour Minister and union representatives.
Current Interior Minister, Reuben Gantz, is known for his zealous stance on drug and customs enforcement - a position not commonly held by past ministers. Some of his recent changes also include the lowering of maximum cigarettes from 200 to just 50, the maximum amount of non-bank-bound cash from 25,000 to 5,000, and the increased usage of bag inspections by hand over x-ray.

The Republic of Medoynia wishes to establish formal diplomatic relations with the The United Artherian Federation. Prime Minister Caruana invites The United Artherian Federation to establish a diplomatic mission in the Medoynian capital city of Menton (a seaside city on the Mediterranean, within the same urban agglomeration as Nice) and proposes a Medoynian diplomatic mission in the Artherian capital city of Neuberlin.
Heya, this is a puppet of Shtet. It's going to be an Esperanto-speaking south South American socialist nation.
I decided it could be more interesting to everyone if instead of writing out a long history for Shtet, I roleplay some of the events and policies here. Meridujo will be that experiment.
