Ships Ships Ships

Paperwork had been found of previous orders made by customers for X-1 cruisers many had been delivered as promised except for the ones which had been meant for the Indies who was an associate of the nation but not an outright ally. There were ten more X-1's due to be completed which left ten more to be built. The Military councilmen canceled the last ten and decided that the ones nearing completion would be purposed into a patrol fleet which would be based in Cape Verde. Furthermore, completion of the expansion and modernization of Dakar Dockyard would be completed by late December as would the first Dakar class Battleship which would be completed at the beginning of 1909 and a sister ship named the Freetown which was planned to be built by the beginning of 1910.

Plans for a fast cruiser class and destroyer class were already in the works and would likely laid down somewhere in the middle of 1909. It is unknown what the cruiser and destroyer classes will be named as of yet. Nordev would also be selling and or scrapping some of its older ships in the very near future.

The Elections

Two weeks after the elections no one was surprised when Ade Tersoo was elected the nation's first prime minister, there were five parties in the Parliament. Nordevian Democratic Socialist Party which was the party Prime Minister Terso had thrown his lot in with and was the largets. The second Largest was the Nordevian People's Party whose Ideology was Marxist Communism. The third-largest was the Nordevian conservative party which had very conservative views. Fourth and fifth were the smallest the fourth being the Independents who didn't want any party affiliation and the Nordevian socialist party which wanted Marxist socialism. The Military Council had stepped down and the first issue was a vote on if the nation should have state religion once the parliament was in session at the beginning of March.

Back to our Roots

After the fall of Iberia and Southern Italy the PSSR have put back into place to take these territories back.
Southern Italy was one of the PSSR's longest running regions; however, they were given the option of independence in an attempt to see if they can stay stable.
Almost two years later Southern Italy has fallen apart and descended into a lawless state, clearly this experiment has failed and we have to return...
The Med fleet was deployed to Naples and Rome where they stared to set up a peace operation in help returning the region to a stable footing.
However, it wasn't put to vote as in the past; clearly their shot being independent was lost and now the PSSR was back to ensure it stayed in hand.
A friendly government was set up and southern Italy was soon put into place once again.
The same can be said about the Barcalus Islands after Iberia's fall from power.
The islands are once again turned back over to the PSSR, at least this time it didn't require bloodshed.

Africa... More Africa

Further expansion efforts are put into South Africa now under the sole leadership of the African Territory Commonwealth (ATC).
ATC was formed to help regulate the PSSR's expansion in Africa, while technically independent they are under the iron hand of the Motherland.
Their sole purpose as of now is to help modernize the regions under PSSR holdings and to further expand the borders in Africa.
However, with the ATC now in control of the African Theater the remaining European forces have been pulled out with the expectation of a few to help train and guide the new ATC military.
Their first campaign further into South Africa was seen more as a peaceful movement as so far the Slavic soldiers have smashed away the natives in the past and likely still fear an upfront confrontation like that again.
To say the least the African expansion by the ATC was quite anti climatic as the regions absorbed showed no out right hostility, maybe finally they are learning their place...

Launch of the Dakar

Today the N.N.V. Dakar made it's maiden voyage from Dakar bound for Freetown where she would then return home and take her place in the 1st fleet if all went well on this voyage if not she would return to dry dock and undergo maintenance and another attempt would be made in the year at some point. Construction on the sister ship of the Dakar had began. A name for the new Cruiser and destroyer classes had also been decided and blueprints were in the works for them.

Furthermore the ten X-1's were complete and they were sent to the Naval base at Cape Verde where they would patrol around the islands and the Dakar Straits.

Atlantic Expansions
With the ceasefire taking hold and negotiations beginning, Ireland has taken advantage of this to continue to momentum, drawing two divisions away from Canada to carry out landings in the Azores and Madeira, islands which were left independent and in turmoil following the collapse of central government in Madrid. The 30,000 strong army took little damage from the population, who were happy to see the return of centralised government and outside support for their fragile island economies.

The next campaign, however, would be much more difficult. The two Irish divisions, with covering fire from two battleship groups and support from two additional Canadian divisions, landed in Lisbon and Porto, with 2 divisions in each city. The Portuguese were caught off guard, and moved quickly to evacuate the government and rally a resistance force centred around the city of Coimbra. With the capital and Porto evacuated, Irish forces quickly pacified the region, moving out from the two cities to extend Irish influence into the surrounding countryside. The 140th Division pushed south from Lisbon towards the south coast and the town of Faro, reaching it within a month due to the little organised resistance faced, while the 147th Division pushed east from Porto, making for the Spanish border and reaching it within two weeks of leaving the coast. Finally, the 142nd and 143rd divisions pushed from Porto and Lisbon respectively, making their way to Coimbra and encircling the city, waiting for artillery support. When the artillery arrived from Lisbon, the siege guns opened fire on the fortified city, tearing holes in the walls of the city and in the morale of its defenders and inhabitants, who surrendered after a two week siege. Irish forces found that the city was devoid of animal life, except for swarms of rats. Irish military officials have assumed that these rats ate their way through the spring harvest in the city cellars shortly before the siege, forcing the inhabitants to slaughter and eat horses, cats, dogs and birds to maintain the siege.

With Portugal locked down, Ireland turned to Spain, where regional governments had struggled to enforce their will on a people who had recently overthrown their central government in Madrid. Six new divisions were recruited and trained from Portugal to supplement the four Canadian divisions in this operation. In April 1909, the armies struck, pushing out of northern Portugal towards A Coruña, Salamanca, Bilbao and Burgos, the four main targets for the first strike. Existing road infrastructure made the path easy, with the divisions facing little unified opposition due the technological and numbers advantages Ireland had over the soldiers. These objectives were reached in late April 1909 after brief but bloody battles in the cities towards the end of the campaign, and the campaign was deemed to be successfully completed on April 28, 1909 with the surrender of Castile y Leon, with total casualties in the Atlantic Campaign being just 8600, mostly in the final attacks on A Coruña, Salamanca and Bilbao.

More of Spain

Months ago a three-pronged invasion of Spain had begun to unify Spain once again however other powers Allies of Nordev had swarmed like vultures and so command sent the Mauritanian troops who were now under Nordevian command permanently given the Mauritania hand over. The friendly Spanish troops and Nordevians advanced once more with the same tactic. Army group West advanced on the city of Seville, Army Group Center Marched on Cordoba, While Army group east marched east taking Granada, Almeria and finally the city of Murcia. It was here that their advance halted due to word that the French would be coming at some point seeking to take bits of spain and out of respect the Nordevians halted their advance.

The campaign took half a month to complete due to resistance from the current Spanish government which calmed once they heard Why Nordev was there. The Nordevian Purpose was to keep what land they took to give back to the Spanish people once a clear leader had been established and to spare the Spanish people being under the yolk of another power. At the end of March, the integration process began and the people of Spain who were under Nordev, for the time being, were given citizenship.

African Front

While the campaign in Spain went on a more massive campaign had begun to secure the rest of Morrocco and the Mauritanian gap. Diplomats had been dispatched to the new regional capital of Marrakesh for a handover of power of the rest of Morrocco to Nordev. At the begining of April Morrocco signed control over to Nordev. Nordev welcomed their Muslim brothers openly.

The same could not be said for those in the Mauritanian gap who had chosen violence to peace and a nationalist army Assembled in Aleg in the oasis there. Nordevian scouts crossed the border on both sides and rode through open desert to find the rebels groups of four riders each carrying plenty of water with them. One would send reports two to carry water and one to keep a lookout. They alternated these jobs. At the beginning of April, the scouts reported a gathering of 20,000 near lake Aleg.

On April 4, 1908 the 5th, and 7th Cavalry regiments supported by armored cars, and the 2nd army's 4th and 5th Divisions together they surrounded the gathering of rebels. Madafae 8cm guns were positioned on the west and east sides of the Town.

The 5th Cavalry took up position on the south and east sides along with the 4th Division which surrounded the east and part of the south while the 7th Cavalry and the 5th Division took up position on the north and west sides. At 1:00 pm the artillery fired two volleys not wanting to damage the town badly. They had successfully cut the rebels off from the freshwater supply. During the volley hasty barricades had been set up and manned along the main roads into the town. The Barricades were made of furniture and other materials. The commanders who were on horseback watched this and gave the order to advance.

Disciplined and drilled lines advanced on the rabble from all sides. The Cavalry regiments sent their armored cars to break the barricades before they would ride in after the breaking. The infantry slowed their pace letting the armored cars take the lead and speed toward the barricade. Once Past the Infantry cheered and double-timed it toward the barricade. The armored cars roared forward-firing their machineguns and then making contact with the barricade the first ram didn't move them so the armored cars backed up and tried again this time punchin a hole in two but not the other two on the south and east sides.

The Armored cars on the South and east instead opened up as they pulled back to let the infantry scale the barricade. On the North and west side Infantry plunged into the hole made by their armored comrades who had backed up to let the infantry into the hole they had made. Now flanked the Rebels fell back to the central square where their second line of defense was set up. It did little as the Nordevians were hot on their heels and soon followed them over the secondary barricades. By 3 pm the Rebellion was put down. Those who surrendered were allowed to go back to their lives so long as they signed a paper which said they would never raise arms against Nordev again out of 20,000 Rebels, 3,000 survived the battle and firing squad executions.

In the rest of the Mauritanian Gap, the rest of the 2nd army had bridged the gap and connected with the rest of Nordev with little resistance.

Canary Islands

The third fleet early in the morning surrounded the Canary Islands, and marines came ashore at Las Palmas De Grand Canaria seizing power from the local government by the local government's invitation which claimed that the local Governor wanted to take power for himself from the people and declare himself dictator of the Islands. The current Governor was replaced with a diplomat from the Nordevian diplomatic service who would act as governor until the people of the island elected a new one. In the meantime, the stand-in would begin integration for the islands.

With the recent acquisition of the Canary Islands Nordev began to look inward and began to wonder what it would have to offer tourists if any were to come. The Canary Islands were beautiful as was the Spanish coast and the northern coast of Morrocco and many other locations throughout the African nation. As did the Nordevian parliament who also seemed to think so. And so the parliament passed a bill to open up the nation to tourism to investors abroad. Safari's of the African wildlife would be offered, luxury resorts, as well as contracted hunts, should a client so wish for those more adventurous folk. River Cruises would also be offered along many of the rivers of Nordev for those who wanted to see more of the interior and water wildlife and migrations which passed through the area.

The Vote

Early in the month of June, a bill was drawn up to end the state-mandated religion laws which had been in effect since the nation's inception in 1901. It along with racial unity had been a means to an end to keeping the nation united and now the Prime Minister and the Parliament, as well as the faith in question, saw it as the time to move on as racial unity could be kept without the use of the faith would moving forward not be the best option if the nation was to maintain stability in the regions in which Nordev led. And so on June 12, 1909, the law saw it's death and a massive cheer rose up across the Republic as Christians, Muslims, and other faiths could now practice how they wished with the stipulation that they keep Church and State Separate from one another and continue to be united as one people.

Expansion of Indonesia and Papua New Guinea.

Dutch casualties for the past few months in Kalimantan surmounted to a significant amount, eliminating an approximate 85% of their man power on a desperate offensive to push through Eastern Malaysian lands. However stationed men within the area, with newer small arms weaponry, typhoon machine guns, and AEGM 3A1 armored cars, giving the men of the armed forces a much better chance at defending the central Kalimantan front. With the 85% Dutch casualties suffered, the remaining smaller armies and dispatch forces still stationed to defend the lands, towns, and cities, quickly surrendered to the Armed Forces. Dutch forces in the remaining unclaimed Banda Arc islands also surrendered to the mass ships encircling the islands, in which they had also bombarded to launch a future naval invasion. Deployed FEA armed forces troops immediately moved to take the Center of Kalimantan to restore order and liberate the native people from the cruel Dutch. Although the Western areas of Kalimantan will not be expanded as planned, as the Military Council focused its troops to take over the nearby islands within Indonesia, a naval invasion was also planned on the West Papua and the Southern regions of Papua to assist in the liberation of Papua New Guinea.

On January 4th, 1909. The Navy successfully landed 200,000 troops, 1,500 armored cars, and 2,300 artillery pieces in West Papua and South of Papua, but they will not be advancing towards Papua New Guinea until the next months to bolster their front against the Colonizers.

As for the Northern Front of Papua New Guinea, fighting and violence still ensues the land. With the colonizers from the North of the Island caught way off guard, a massive land force was able to push south with their armored cars and artillery support from the rear. A rather large dispatch force was also sent to take the important port city of Lae, in order to set up another front in the eastern half of the PNG, as well as its islands in the North East. The battle of Lae ended in a decisive victory! The armed forces suffered only little-to-no casualties with the colonizers losing almost 70%, due to the lack of warning and communications cut off by the FSS spies along with the help of the Natives, lurking within the area. In the meantime, the navy sending its Taripan class Armored Cruisers and Oni class Dreadnaughts, helped to take the Manus, Mussau, and Emirau Islands from the Colony and establish a massive naval base to assist in their military operations. Other naval forces from the Solomon Islands also took part in the island hopping campaign within Papua New Guinea, forcibly taking several Islands next to the larger, New Ireland island and three other islands located in the Solomon Sea. Facing little opposition, the Navy took over the islands, while greeting the natives occupying such islands with gifts and several alliance treaties to protect them from the Colonies.

Argentinian North

After the dictator’s recent rise to power, several thousand soldiers were sent north to begin quelling the Rising Sun Army still holding out against the regime. 5,000 Argentinian soldiers quickly captured several forts along the border and a further 20,000 stormed past them and quickly seized the capital, all in all totaling the enemy and seizing northern Argentina. New fortresses are being constructed and new industrial improvements such as fresh factories and better work conditions are being enacted in the newly conquered area as well.

Glory to Argentina.

Arana MK III

Early in the morning, the Arana III was rolled out of its hanger and onto the runway, it looked like the previous model except for the wing shapes were far different from each other the mainly in the shape of the wings. The Arana MK II had rounded wings this new model had square wings and had been modified to only have one seat and three fourteen gallon fuel tanks which would help to increase the range of the aircraft greatly. For training purposes, the Arana II was to be kept to teach future pilots of the N.A.R.U. (Nordevian Air Recon Unit) how to fly these magnificent machines.

The Arana III, like the other models the craft had been outfitted with a steering stick to control the plane as it had been found to be the most effective means of steering. Nordev, unlike many nations, was far ahead in the aircraft game with other powers still focusing on blimps and still in early stages of their aircraft programs. Fokker climbed into the Aranna III and an attendant started the engine by turning the wooden propeller. The Arana III roared to life and began to roll forward after the blocks were removed from the front wheels by the attendants. Fokker nodded to Abanu who was the only one left after the initial pilot had passed away from a rare disease.

The Arana picked up speed and began to lift from the ground until the wheels were free of the ground and Fokker was airborne. Fokker first took the Arana III around the town a couple of times as he ascended on the second pass he headed northwest toward Dakar the Capital of the Republic which was only 100 miles from where the runway was. At Dakar, a second runway had been set up for the landing this flight was to show to the Prime Minister the Arana as he had yet to see it first hand.

1 Hours Later

Ade Tersoo stood on the edge of a runway, dust was blew across the dirt runway Tersoo looked to the sky through a pair of binoculars waiting to see the flying machine. Before he saw the machine he heard it the roar of an engine coming closer. Tersoo found the source quickly and watched as the Arana III made its decent becoming bigger as it descended toward the runway. A few minutes later the Arana set down and began to roll down the dirt runway and came to a complete stop in the middle of the runway. Fokker hopped out and took off his goggles, and aviator hat, as well as his gloves, he greeted Tersooo and the two shook hands in greeting they then spent the next hour discussing the applications that the Arana III could be used for. When the meeting was over Fokker gave the Prime Minister a walk-around tour of the Arana III.

When the two men separated Fokker refueled and returned to the company headquarters with a contract to produce the Arana II and III for military use for recon. Fokker was pleased with this outcome and when he returned to his company headquarters handed the licenses to the production manager who would begin producing aircraft for the N.A.R.U. first thing in the morning. The training was over now began the real test and that was combat-related.

Securing the Pacific Pt.2
[i]Continuing with its continental expansion the United States decides to push into Colorado and Oregon, securing the remaining land. Once taken California seems the logical choice, as the US prepares for a northern invasion.Overwhelming any initial resistance they quickly secure the rural lands and push in along the coast. After days of small but stiff resistance the United States Army halts their advance and prepares for a secondary push.[i]

Expansion in a Warzone

As conflict between the Middle East and Qetror grows the PSSR has deiced to close the gap between the three nation to bring the front closer to the current action.
The current force of 8 million on the two borders condenses a pack 750k in Kazakhstan to push the sector close...
With no military and a wakened populace the pocket falls under PSSR occupation within a few hours; however, as the operation of the expansion started as a military one it quickly turned to a humanitarian operation.
The conditions the people in this pocket have bee exposed to are below that of one would call poverty, the soldiers in the region start to hand out their own rations as a symbol to the people.
Being cut away from the outside world by warring states haven't allowed much if any supplies to reach the pocket and ironically the PSSR soldiers were seen more as saviors then invaders.
Further supplies of bread, water, and medical deceives have been pushed up the chain of command...

Small Gains

The ATC in PSSR Africa have launched another operation into the native lands; however, it seems the natives are starting to grow resilient once more any not many towns agree to the talks or out right refuse.
The operation in the eyes of the PSSR is a failure over all as the small amount of the resource rich lands don't seem enough to the Motherland.
Africa is proving to be the resource basket for the Slavic nations back home and the native population is being employed to virtually strip the land of its goods and for it to be shipped back to Tsarigard.
Seeing the ATC starting to fail in Africa the option of moving the BFF back into the region is being considered, if the people wont listen to the talks and promises of the ever giving Motherland then it will be taken from them in blood and that blood will be used to heat the furnace of the PSSR recourse machine....

Powering the Future Part 1: The High Towers

It had been quite some time since Nikola Tesla had set up his workshop in Freetown and it had been fairly quiet until the elder man's arrival. Townspeople reported power surges and odd lights coming from the Tesla workshop when the police would inquire they would be shown massive coils and told to stand in a cage. Tesla would then pull down a lever and power would surge all around them in the cage, while the energy erupted all around them.

Tesla would then explain to them what was happening and at the end of his demonstration, the police would go to the caller and tell them what was happening. The people did not understand it and so just watched. In January construction of a series, of towers began it was unknown what these towers were for all that was known is that it was approved by the government. It would take several months for the twenty towers which were positioned around Freetown for a controlled experiment which would take place in August or September. If successful it was Tesla's hope that the Nordevian government would allow him to continue further experiments.
