ASSEMBLY VOTE UPDATE

The results of the recent Assembly Vote on the UCN Bar Association Bill have passed 13/0-2 (Y/N-A) The thaindom of the shire's vote was excluded as they are not a member of The Assembly.

The Bill is now law :)

Gideon wrote:Random question: What does everyone think about the possibility of making Assembly votes be weighted based on population? This would give more weight to people who have been involved in NS longer, which maybe is a deserved thing.

For instance (based on population):
<100M = 1 vote
100M-1B = 2 votes
1-5B = 3 votes
5-10B = 4 votes
10-20B =5 votes
20B+ = 6 votes

This would have been the results for the most recent elder election:

Democratic Alliance - 44.1% (was 35.7%)
Conservative Alliance - 37.6% (was 50.0%)
Progressive Alliance - 18.3% (was 14.3%)

Perhaps Influence might be better.

For instance (based on influence):
None = 1 vote
Very Low = 2 votes
Low = 3 votes
Medium = 4 votes
High =5 votes
Very High = 6 votes

Democratic Alliance - 42.4% (was 35.7%)
Conservative Alliance - 39.8% (was 50.0%)
Progressive Alliance - 17.8% (was 14.3%)

I think we should give more political say to those who have been committed to the region versus those who have newly joined.

Apparently a 50 year long schism between the church in Serbia and North Macedonia has been healed recently.

Howdy everyone, glad to be here and can’t wait to get to know y’all better :)!

New Revised Standard Version Updated Edition (NRSVUE)

“Since we are God’s offspring, we ought not to think that the deity is like gold or silver or stone, an image formed by the art and imagination of mortals. While God has overlooked the times of human ignorance, now he commands all people everywhere to repent, because he has fixed a day on which he will have the world judged in righteousness by a man whom he has appointed, and of this he has given assurance to all by raising him from the dead.”

When they heard of the resurrection of the dead, some scoffed, but others said, “We will hear you again about this.” At that point Paul left them. But some of them joined him and became believers, including Dionysius the Areopagite and a woman named Damaris and others with them.

𝐑𝐞𝐟𝐥𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧: some scoffed, but others said, “We will hear you again about this.”

I kinda made the mistake of placing the Acts of the Apostles at Sunday, where as a Historical Book it should've been Wednesday. But anyway, a part of Paul's speech in Athens, tells us the moral responsibility, repent and believe in the gospel. I remember reading about Saint Augustine's take on polygamy, and he states the same as Saint Paul. Both of them said that God overlooked over the hardness of man's heart.

Paul reminds us that God before Christ's Birth and the God after Christ's Death is the same person. Such did the prophets say repent, so does Jesus say repent, and the apostles continue the message of repentance. In our present lives, repentance is the least preached... in my opinion. We forget the final judgement, and we rely too much on God's mercy that we forget what we are and just do. With our ever growing secularization, we even forget God. This is a sad thought, Cardinal Tagle mentioned this about Practical Atheism, and our mindset is that God is enthroned there and we should just live. Our society is not inclined to God but to our own welfare. The religious, ascetics, desert fathers/mothers, hermits, monks, that once lived their life free from anything even the essentials are revered today because of their high trust in the Lord. But what are we, we cannot live a day without the internet, which I am also guilty of.

We forget the final judgement, or I guess we try to not be fearful of God's wrath. But when we don't mind it all the more would God inflict on the unjust. Let us teach the Cross, because that is the only way to Salvation, as laid out by Jesus Christ. The Flaming Arrow (Ignea Sagitta) by by Nicholas of France, (Prior General of the Carmelite Order 1266-1271) spokes of encountering God in Solitude, retreating to a desert or the mountain and seeking God. That is not practical, but in our own homes, our own rooms, the room within our minds hearts and souls, let us seek God. In our lives, let us desert vanities, and seek God. And of course do all of this not solely of Obedience, but of Humility and most of all the Loving Charity.

𝐏𝐫𝐚𝐲𝐞𝐫: Christ the Just and Merciful Judge whom God has exalted in Obedience, hear our prayers and the prayers of Your Saints and the Angels—the Heavenly Mother, Saint Joseph, and our Guardian Angel—and all the Holy Souls, look upon us with Mercy.

Lord God
You have power and might,
strength with justice and mercy.
We who have recourse to Your Divine Mercy,
hear our prayers.
We detest our sins, the sins that made You die for us,
We detest our sins dreading the loss of heaven and the pains of hell.
But most of all, because we know that it offended You
You who have come to redeem us,
You who have created us,
You who have come to renew us.
You have shown us the way,
help us to follow with Love.
You have shown us the Light,
help us to see with Love.
You have shown us the Truth,
help us to believe with Love.

𝗠𝗮𝗿𝘆 𝗺𝗼𝘀𝘁 𝗛𝗼𝗹𝘆, Mother of God, and our Mother. You are our example. Pray for us, who have strayed from the path. In you we see refuge and hope, being a woman of creation goodness. We put our trust in you, that our prayers may be heard by the Father through the Son [who with the Father and the Son is] in union with the Holy Spirit, living as one God forever.

To You O Blessed Joseph, we have recourse to You to. For having the honour of being joined to the hearts of Mary and Joseph, we know that Your intercession is powerful too. Hear our prayers and protect us with Saint Michael the Archangel. For You are regarded as the Protector of the Church as once You have protected Jesus from mortal danger of Herod. Intercede for us, and by sacred trust, faith, and hope in You, we know that our prayers are heard with the Blessed Mother Your spouse.
Amen.

Lesson 6: The only God
"Hear, O Israel: The Lord is our God, the Lord alone. You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your might." (Deuteronomy 6:4-5)
(CCC 200-231)

29. When declaring that the Lord alone is our God, how should we understand it?
- We must understand it as: there is only one God and there is no other God besides Him, and we must only worship Him alone. (see Matthew 4:10)
30. Does God reveal his name to us?
- God has revealed to us his name: "I am who I am".
31. What does "I am who I am" mean?
- It means there is no creator of God, and God has no end. He is always beside us, to care for us and save us.
32. Does God reveal more to us about Himself?
- God also revealed to us that He is "merciful and gracious" (see Exodus 34:6). He is the Truth and Love.
33. How does believing in the only God affect our lives?
- Believing in the only God helps us to:
+ One is to realize that God is noble and mighty to worship Him.
+ Two is to live in gratitude.
+ Three is to realize the true dignity of all people.
+ Four is to better uphold good stewardship.
+ Five is to believe in God in all circumstances.

Peace and All Good!

Today is the 𝐅𝐢𝐟𝐭𝐡 𝐃𝐚𝐲 𝐨𝐟 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐅𝐢𝐟𝐭𝐡 𝐰𝐞𝐞𝐤 𝐨𝐟 𝐄𝐚𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐭𝐢𝐝𝐞 (𝐏𝐚𝐬𝐜𝐡𝐚𝐥𝐭𝐢𝐝𝐞)

Every Thursday, we put our devotion to the Blessed Sacrament, the Eucharist. True Body and Blood of Jesus Christ, first offered in the table of the Passover meal, and made complete through the life-giving tree of the cross. And now, entrusted to us to commemorate the meal.

𝐓𝐨𝐝𝐚𝐲'𝐬 𝐑𝐞𝐚𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐠 is from the letter of Saint Paul to the 𝕲𝖆𝖑𝖆𝖙𝖎𝖆𝖓𝖘 5:16-21
New Revised Standard Version Anglicised Catholic Edition (NRSVACE)

𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗪𝗼𝗿𝗸𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗙𝗹𝗲𝘀𝗵
Live by the Spirit, I say, and do not gratify the desires of the flesh. For what the flesh desires is opposed to the Spirit, and what the Spirit desires is opposed to the flesh; for these are opposed to each other, to prevent you from doing what you want. But if you are led by the Spirit, you are not subject to the law. Now the works of the flesh are obvious: fornication, impurity, licentiousness, idolatry, sorcery, enmities, strife, jealousy, anger, quarrels, dissensions, factions, envy, drunkenness, carousing, and things like these. I am warning you, as I warned you before: those who do such things will not inherit the kingdom of God.

𝐑𝐞𝐟𝐥𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧: do not gratify the desires of the flesh.

The Spirit, the Lord, the Giver of Life. The same spirit that went with Ananias, Azarias, and Mizael in the fire in the Chaldeans. The Holy Spirit that hovered over the face of the earth. This is the Holy Spirit that Jesus promised to send us. I watched a Tim Mackie video telling about the working of God's love. Where the Father sent His Only-Begotten Son for the Salvation of all His other Children. The Son, whom with love for us too, gave His life to the plan of the Father and our salvation. And the Holy Spirit turns our attention to the two, the Father and the Son.

Today's reading, Paul lists some of what is not part of the nature of man. Such are the seven deadly (or Cardinal) sins. In his letter to the Romans, Paul said that since we have the Spirit of God living in us, so we too must live in the Spirit. Living in the Spirit is following in virtue. Today's reading, Saint Paul tells us that the flesh is opposed to the Spirit.

I've been contemplating on a lot of ways to do penance and to renounce the world lately, that is to live by the spirit. One is, imitating the Order of Minims. I learned about the minims when I learned about the feast of Saint Francis of Paul their Founder. I've always been curious about a perpetually lenten lifestyle. This way, we can follow the messages of Mary in the appearance at Lourdes and Fatima, penance.

I've been reading a lot about Saints, Ascetism, Hermits, Monks, and other religious order (like the BSP, OM, and OSM). What I find fascinating about it is their ability to hold the flesh in control. I've always been curious about, when is enough, when is too much, for example on eating. Overeating is gluttony, which is both bad for your health and a bad practice of pleasure. Undereating is also bad, since depravation of goods does not lead us to perform our activities, hence the sin of omission. But what do we do then? Moderation. But other sins such as, fornication, murder, or anything that opposes the commandments should not be done. These things are not to be done in moderation, instead we should never do. For this is a sin to the spirit whom lives in us.

𝐏𝐫𝐚𝐲𝐞𝐫: I guess, if it is truly the will of God, the extreme vows of ascetism, monasticism, hermeticism, and perpetual lent as the minims, are a good form of penance. But we the laity, who are not called to such extreme measures can live out our lives when we live in Loving Charity and Moderation. 𝐋𝐞𝐭 𝐮𝐬 𝐏𝐫𝐚𝐲.

Heavenly Father,
whom by Your mercy sent us the Holy Spirit to guide our paths.
So by our sins we disrespect Your Spirit who lives in us and whom You sent to us.
Never lose patience Lord, I am sorry.
Forgive me Lord, punish me and heal me.
You are most worthy of my love and of the whole creation's.
Lord heal us, that we may follow the spirit once more. Amen.

Lord Jesus Christ,
when You said, "This is my Body." I believe it is Your true Body.
When you said, "This is my Blood." I believe it is Your true Blood.
Bless us as we partake,
forgive us and deprive us not of Your presence.
Guide us to live in the spirit. Amen.

and of the Son,
and of the Holy Spirit,

People of this region, I have a question for you.
Do you believe that someone, if they do enough good, could get into heaven if they were not Christian? Take someone like the Indian Buddha, a wealthy prince who willingly gave it all away to give to the people.

The Bible is pretty clear that deeds alone are not enough. Ephesians 2:8-9 made it crystal clear by saying, "For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast." Jesus Himself backed this up by saying, " “I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me." John 14:6.

'All have turned away, they have together become worthless; there is no-one who does good, not even one.'
Romans 3:12

I like to think that Purgatory exists and perhaps non believers go there first before going to Heaven. I know that Article 22 states "The Romish doctrine concerning purgatory, pardons, worshiping and adoration as well of images as of relics, and also invocation of saints, is a fond thing vainly invented, and grounded upon no warranty of Scripture, but rather repugnant to the word of God." Despite that though I want to believe.

I have recently noticed one of your recent polls regarding sports, but biblically speaking, aren't sports in essence a source of evil as it gives unjust pride and greed to the person involved? I have seen so many athletes that praise God when they accomplish something whether they lose or not but how genuine are their praises? are they simply using God's name as simply a source of pride? Isn't participating sports also swaying you away from the path of good and from the light and word of God?

35 And this I speak for your own profit; not that I may cast a snare upon you, but for that which is comely, and that ye may attend upon the Lord without distraction." 1 Cor. 7:35

Wouldn't sports be considered as a distraction? even the previous verse of of 1 Cor. 7:34 even states that it is better to not marry in order to not be distracted away from God

1 "If ye then be risen with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ sitteth on the right hand of God.
2 Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth." Col. 3:1-2

People bring glory to God when they praise him through sport. As long as sport isn't more important than God (an idol) then I think it's okay - it's not mentioned in the Bible really!

A fascinating discussion starter. As a matter of fact, I will not answer your questions and ask you instead to refer to King James I/ VI and his Book of Sport where he discusses at great length and detail the morality and true place that sport and exercise has in our lives as part of our Christian growth. But it also foresees some of the very dangers that you have named. We can even draw examples from the modern world particularly in Football which has turned itself into a pagan cult of sorts. So definitely an excellent topic to bring up and I am more interested in hearing everyone's opinion rather than to hear me babble on.

Agreed. Sports in itself is a really important part of physical and spiritual care. However, the winning and losing part in sports must be controlled. Otherwise it will bring up dangers, like idolizing sports to a point that calling sports is more than God. It's not sports alone, other stuff like musical performances and singers must be called as well. For singers have been idolized too much.

As Christians we are saved by grace alone.

*P/S: I want to say that before I was mistaken that grace alone is the same as faith alone. Now I can differentiate it and agree with 1 of the 2, specifically grace alone, but not faith alone.

I regret to inform you that as original members of our region (RCN) have become less active and other immature nations have taken over and passed legislation dissolving the region and archiving it. The first vote failed but a second vote succeeded. I voted against the motions both times. Some have already left for other regions. I am looking for next steps as I move forward. Any support would be greatly appreciated.
