Lore idea: A Very Alteran Civil War in the 1920s.
Still near-literal back-of-a-fag-packet concept here, but after years of tensions and an increasing divide of rampant capitalism and the working poor; war breaks out between the government (the status quo) and a faction made up of !Communism and !Syndicalism type ideologies.
Would give nations chances to support the government (for fear of similar ideas spreading to their shores) or the opposition - seeing Altera as either morally corrupt capitalists, an economic rival or just plain old "lEtS fIgHt ThE sYsTeM"
That, and give our resident Commieboos/TeaAboos/Mer'caboos a chance to flesh out 1920s/pre-IW tech and culture.
IRL, species are as common as dirt. In some genera, there's godzillions of closely related species. Why should TWI be any different?

i would say the Provisionals would send aid to the Alteran commies, but they’d be too busy stabilizing themselves to help out red brothers across the continent :p
Great Altera and Corkair
The United Federation fears nobody.
The 1920s were right after the Tsunter Wars of Independence so there's a lot of former rebel soldiers sitting around who probably aren't adjusting to becoming civil servants.
I see two options for the Tsunterlands to get involved sending people.
Option A) The Alterans either helped back the Tsunter War of Independence (against the Vacrusians) with arms or funding or provided loans after the war the new nation to help it industrialise - at which point the Tsunter government would send soldiers over to back the government.
Option B) Ex-soldiers enlist as mercenaries helping the rebels - seeing Altera as another colonial power that needs to be brought down.
Lesva and Great Altera
Tricklandia was turbo-capitalist and very ideological back then, so publicly they'd support the government; but, of course, whoever pays the A'ana mercenaries more gets them, be they capitalists or communists.
Lesva and Great Altera
My favorite character in any book I've read is Sherrif Geissler in Knut Hamsun's Growth of the Soil (1917, Nobel prize in literature 1920). I'm re reading the book for the first time after five years. The disgraced former Sherrif of the town is still an enigma to me. Whenever he shows up, he somehow always manages to help the main character, but it's in such a chaotic way he just hops on the scheme, takes over the whole plot and vanishes as quickly as he came. Its implied he may have some shady dealings of some kind, and I strongly suspect he's atleast partially a self insert of the author - as the main character for three of Hamsun's books, August has many similarities. But this is why we like hamsun, he's good at writing subtle and miltu. Faceted characters. Even the wrench Oline is sometimes likeable even if she's a terrible person!
Anyways I'm finished with part one, more updates to follow if I get around to it after finishing the second part.
i mean, hey this would be another good excuse why socialism/communism spread to Domanania in the 20's and 30's
Lesva and Great Altera
Renet would back the central government out of shared values, and this support could even culminate in a Renetian-Alteran alliance that would lead Renet to officially enter the Imperial War on the side of the Free Powers only twenty or so years later...
Lesva and Great Altera
thats also around the time that the Takivaj socialist movement started growing

What I hear is a opportune time to sell guns to everybody involved

Certain socialist and conservative factions in Corkair in the 20s would definitely support opposing sides.
Thank you all for such an overwhelmingly positive response; I'll start drafting some ideas more thoroughly and create an OOC discussion thread soon™ (not sure when as super busy these days; might try booking time off work for a Friday NS day session...)

Just a little proof of life for the map: I’ve been wanting to get a news post up for days, but I’ve also been on a long and exhausting (yet awesome) trip around the US east coast, mostly checking out historical sites!* Haven’t had much time or energy to write, but hopefully I will within the next few days as it comes to a close.
*highlights include Gettysburg battlefield, Boston (lots of history in/around it), colonial Williamsburg, and more
• One-Party Regime
The Political Administration of Gevindar is a coalition of pro-state organizations and parties collectively known as the National Front. Established in the aftermath of the Lönigist military coup in 1980, the National Front was initially led by the Ascension Party. Over the years, a variety of representative and propaganda-oriented organizations emerged, such as the Gevindar Civic Committee and the National Development Party, each catering to different social classes within the country.
In the end of 2010s, the rise of the Opposition introduced new organizations aligned with Lönigist thought, which began to gain prominence within the National Front. The most notable and active of these is the Reformist League, a party dedicated to advocating reforms in Gevindar's social policies and foreign relations while remaining steadfast to Lönigist ideals. This organization champions a Free Market economy, making it a significant player in contemporary political discourse.
While less prominent than the Reformist League, the Gevindar Technocratic Party also plays an active role in the National Front, pushing for a technocratic approach to governance and policy-making.
Each of the opposition organizations within the National Front operates its own press and media outlets; however, they do not receive international funding from foreign entities. These opposition groups do not fundamentally oppose Lönigist ideology; rather, their goal is to reinterpret and adapt it to contemporary realities.
• Corporatism
In Gevindar, all companies strictly align with the political ideology and principles of the National Front. They maintain a cooperative relationship with both the Ascension Party and the Government, ensuring absolute loyalty and the absence of dissent. The Ministry of Production, which dictates economic policy, actively oversees, manages, or intervenes in corporate operations. The primary mission of these companies is to bolster national prosperity and stabilize the economy. Economic competition is entirely prohibited; each sector is exclusively managed by one or two companies, ensuring centralized control and coordination.
• Autarky
Gevindar is historically characterized by its closed economy, prioritizing self-sufficiency and domestic production. International trade was limited to surplus luxury goods, with occasional trade agreements only during times of crisis. However, this policy began to shift in the early 2020s, giving way to more globally focused strategies. Driven by the Reformist League's legislative initiatives and economic incentives, the country has shown increasing openness to foreign trade. Despite this, strict bans on foreign products have remained largely effective and are expected to persist in the coming years, maintaining a cautious approach to globalization.
Started my work on this factbook, still not completed but here's it!

Yes, please start worldbuilding your nation. You can't RP in TWI until you're on the map, but I'm sure you can find something else on the forum to post about.

Alright. Thank you for your help!
