Finally found a decent overland route to the bike path network from my work, so now I have something to do over lunch

I'm looking forward to biking season in a few months. Biking in my area is suicidal right now because of all the ice on the roads

Think you need to check your facts. Louisiana infant mortality is 7.8 per thousand compared to Iraq at 37.5

Sorry, I heard that somewhere. Should have checked my sources.

Wow, I've been an inactive idiot.

I need something new to do tbh.

Corindia someone brought up to my attention that I can water my houseplants using the water I take out during a tank water change and it blew my mind.

The stuff's full of good stuff, and I dont keep plants made for eating so no worries about weird chemicals and tasting like algae

Language

New aapelistan

Talking about language, I think I might start to compile more stuff for the Aprostiatic language family and get basic words for the other languages too

Fish manure, I guess you could say.

EDIT: I am in CA, but haven’t hardly been to LA, and not been to SF very recently. I do remember seeing a whole homeless encampment by an exit in SF a few years ago though. So that’s what I’ve been hearing.

Yea I'm from LA and we obviously have some pretty bad parts
But if you wanna compare us to any of the Appalachian States I think we'd win hands down

You make it sound so vicious! :)

Yeah dude I swear by the stuff. Free nitrates. This probably doesn't work out too well for me actually because my aquatic plants keep all the N compounds more or less at 0 so I don't know if it makes a difference when I use tank water on my plants

Same. 0 Amm/Nitrite, 0-20 ppm nitrate

Some of the crud from the substrate and the compounds from the liquid ferts in the water are what's getting it done, I imagine

God. I had a dream that dental floss and a popcorn kernel was stuck in my tooth at the same time.

Yeah, I assume there's more to my water quality than what my test kit tells me so I still change the water. What fert do you use?

Balnik wrote:God. I had a dream that dental floss and a popcorn kernel was stuck in my tooth at the same time.

Ouch, that’s not a dream, that’s a nightmare

Easy Green. Yes I'm still an Aquarium Co-op shill

20% water change every 2-3 weeks, more if I've lost too much to evaporation. Could I do it more frequently? Probably. But the ecosystem is doing well right now and it's not necessary.

Liquid fert weekly, root tabs every 4 months

I've been thinking of snagging it, I generally trust aquarium co-op. I have their sponge filters even. The fert I use doesn't do anything that I can notice, but honestly I might just not notice. I also really like the idea of it being pumped out tbh. Less messy

I wanna see how well they'll ship my box of dragon stone, since it's a lightweight rock and notoriously fragile compared to other stones like Seiryu

Even my delicate plants like water sprite that are known to have issues shipping arrived nicely

If you meant comparing Los Angeles' poverty rate to Appalachian-bordering states', some of them actually have a lower rate. Kentucky for instance only slightly better, but IIRC Tennessee and North Carolina are also better. Granted, some of the counties' poverty rate is much higher than LA's, and a large city like Nashville does have a bit higher poverty rate (like 18+ vs LA's ~17). And California as a whole has a lower rate.

Imagine having places in with a lower poverty rate than Los Angeles.
