How long were they? Off the top of my head I imagine they were much longer than my longest 10hr from Belgrade to Ljubljana.

Groningen - Hudiksvall in January 2001 was a two day trip (four if you count the return) with several trains from Groningen to Malmö via Germany and Denmark (Zwolle - Deventer - Osnabrück - Bremen - Hamburg - Lübeck - København) and then the night train to Stockholm and then another train to Hudiksvall.

Milan and Odense were done between dawn and dusk. Milan in December 2017 without issues (to via Bern, back via Zürich); Odense in January 2019 was scheduled via København but due to an accident on the Storebæltbro that route was blocked so I travelled via Flensburg and Kolding (which turned out to be shorter but with more changes).

One time I was on the KC Mo to Chicago run of the 2,265 mi (3,645 km) southwest chief. I mean it was cool to see the scenery but we only got there like 45 minutes faster than taking the interstate.

The biggest problem with passenger rail in the US and Canada is that it’s just stupidity uneconomical. Both countries are huge and spread out so 90% of the time it’s cheaper to drive and faster to fly. The only profitable Amtrak routes are on eastern seaboard and the west coast because of the really dense population.

the problem is they won't produce high speed rail even though it would be a viable alternative because it's a massive investment. also freight trains flagrantly violate the law and get de facto right of way

You were gonna have to redo those maps anyway :P

To sumarise my reasons:
1. In IW, Altera and Athara magarat go toe-to-toe over the canal. With my current border it seems to defy logic how and why Altera can rush hundreds of KM before AM just takes a single step up to the canal.

2. I wanted to restructure the internal layout of Altera and change the maps. Still keep the same pop and economic stats, but relocate many of my cities to coastal region and pay more respect to the mountainous topography shown on the original map.

3. Altera stronk As some of you are aware, I'm leaving the teaching profession and switching to a career in Government service. Better hours and more down time (as well as 2+ hours a day on a train), giving me ample time to invest in NS once again. This is my weaker reason of the three for more land, but it certainly would give me a goal and list of interesting things to do.

4. It prevents me from making more planes.

Sweet but let's see what Van says. Also, the Canal Authority is way too large...for just a canal authority. That place needs to be more than just a canal authority for it to be larger than Estonia or mainland Denmark.

They sure did. Jesus Christ.

This is the final straw for me. Goodbye, Trash Assembly.

"You inform the World Assembly that The Kingdom of Agadar will no longer participate in its corrupt, hollow debates. From this moment forward, your nation is on its own."

At least even the site owner recognizes how trash it is.

Freight trains get right of way because the freight companies own and maintain the tracks and Amtrak just pays to use them

If it was really 200k determined people running as fast as they could towards the base, they would have to mobilize a very large portion of the military to stop it.

However, theres not going to be that many and they would all get stopped the second Humvees pointed their guns at them.
