It is true that partisanship can blind a political sympathizer as to the mistakes of their representatives.
For example, it was often said of the former president that he was a sexist and an abuser as an argument against his nomination ; thus, it would be a tragedy if someone were to find out that the current president is a child lover in an unconventional sense.

Wellsia wrote:Your response is exactly what I am talking about, but lets look at some of your points. President Obama built the cages that hold those children, he also built more of the Mexican Border Wall then Trump did, spoke often about the crisis on the border. Gave guns to Mexican Drug Cartels.
Biden spoke at Senator Robert Byrd's (D-WV) funeral as VP calling him is mentor and guide. Byrd was the former Exalted Cyclops of the KKK, this is the person responsible for recruiting new members. Even I will admit that he said some racist and ignorant remarks about Mexico and the Mexican people, his remarks about China was blown out of proportion for political reasons, most of these were said back in Feb. 2020 trying to stop the spread of Covid. Calling it the China Virus is on the same level as German measles or Spanish Flu.
The anti-vaxxers I'm talking about are the Conservatives that are screaming about having to take the Covid shots, but were attacking mothers who wanted to send their child to school without all the multitude of childhood shots most children get.
You brought up Garland vrs Barrett for SC nomination, guess you forgot about how, now, VP Harris tried not only to prevent Brett Kavanaugh's nomination, but did everything she could to destroy the man and his family on unsubstantiated charges.
The only time either party reaches across the aisle is to get what they want and sell out something of little importance. I'm guessing the four years of Democrats opposing every bill during the Trump administration, the impeachment trial, Nancy Pelosi tearing up the President's State of the Union Address on national TV were acts of friendship?
Terrified of the cult following and cult hatred that Trump has brought to America. He takes away most people's ability to rationally think about everything the government does or tries to do. He is an ex-President, but the way liberals and conservatives either vilify or praise him gives him more power then anyone should have. The Republican Party are nothing to brag about, but to be honest, the Democrats aren't either.

You didn't answer either part of what I asked. You said Democrats were happy about family separation, I asked to see evidence of that. I also asked about how the public's reaction was in relation to the amount of information about the border issues we had access to. You instead talked about things the Obama administration did, which I never denied nor brought up anywhere in my post.

I think this is my first time hearing about (or remembering) Byrd. Upon further review, back in the 90s he is on record as acknowledging that the Klan days were the worst mistake of his life, and by the 1950s he apparently distanced himself from them and even then acknowledged how bad it was. If a man admits for decades he was wrong, I'm inclined to believe he genuinely believed it was a bad part of his life and this attempt at a gotcha falls flat. He had decades to do things that were good, and I dont see anywhere where Biden said he admired that part of Byrd's history

At least you can see some. Are all claims about Trump's racism valid? Eh, not really. But there's entirely too much within the last 6 years alone that offer pretty strong evidence. I'll let slide your lack of commentary on his Charlottesville response, we have enough to talk about. You're missing the nuance behind why calling it the China Virus is different. It was done to antagonize and insinuate that Chinese people were the cause of the virus, not that it originated from somewhere in China. There was already an established name for it that he refused to use.

Yes anti-vaxxers are bad regardless of origin. This just proves my point that right wing media perpetuates dangerous misinformation and exacerbated the problem

This is arguably the most presumptuous and snooty thing you've said. I said nothing about Kavanaugh's trial, don't assume my position and then attack the thing you conjured out of nowhere. I was talking about Garland vs ACB because it is an exceptionally relevent example. McConnell (and the rest of the party) is on record making up fake rules that you can't appoint a justice in an election year and then sat on his ass refusing to continue the confirmation procedure for month after month (I think March was when it started going down?). But when he has control over the Senate, he confirms ACB in within weeks of election night with barely any process or vetting. Quite literally a "rules for thee, not for me" with decades of ramifications because of the court packing and unchecked control the Senate has over the country.

Remember when the Republicans impeded 6 years of the Obama administration and the current entirety of Biden's? Even if both sides do it, one has done it far longer and are therefore a bigger problem.

Once more, I never said the Democrats are good, they're just the lesser of two evils. And when one side is significantly more evil, calling them the same only benefits the worse.

As an aside, what are your thoughts on the voting restrictions red states have been putting into place? I don't think we mentioned that yet

Forgot about the atrocity of Charlotesville, that was something every American should be offended by, not sure that making people show an ID is a restriction, but I'm always in favor of free elections, sometimes, I almost think we should be like Belgium and require people to vote. The last election was a matter of pride, in that for the first time in a long time a majority of people voted. The funny thing about all of this was I was originally agreeing with you about political hypocrisy, people should not allow politics to decide what is right or wrong, but always do the right thing, and what others do, if it doesn't harm you or yours, so be it. I'm an Old School Democrat, voted for Carter and Clinton, not happy with the modern Democrat Party, but have never been a fan of the Republicans. What makes me laugh is how modern Republicans like to quote Lincoln, who today would be a Democrat and Democrats like to quote LBJ, who would probably be a Republican. I have a brother, niece and grandson who are LGBTQ, and while I may not agree with everything about it, they are my family and God forbid anyone attack them. If they want a cake, let them have one, if somewhat doesn't get a vaccine, so be it, we all need to treat others as we want to be treated in everything we do.

And now I'm hungry for cake ffs....

This conversation is enjoyable.

This conversation should end.

I typed everything on mobile and my responses kept vanishing out of the text box before I was done so I had to do eveything twice over. That part was not enjoyable

Everyone always stops too soon for me :/

I like cake, but not with big lumps of fruit on/in it. It takes away from the cake imo. If I wanted a mouth full of strawberries, I'd eat a bowl of strawberries.

Don’t you find the fruits in the cake kinda slimy and taking away from the soft texture of cake?
Or is it just me?

I'm more talking about things like banning people from passing out water to those waiting in election lines, destroying mail sorting machines right before an election with expected record mail voting turnout, closing poll stations on days where many black Americans tend to go voting right after church, one ballot dropoff box per county, closing large quantities of voting locations (mostly inside cities hmmmm), and other similar measures. None of which were enacted or proposed by Dems

Voting shouldn't be compulsory, but election day should be a federal holiday and workers compensated for time off to vote.

If I came off as hostile, I wasn't trying to be (except about the MG/ACB/Kavanaugh thing). It just gets under my skin when people falsely claim both sides are the same degree of bad.

And that's how it should be. Even if you disagree with something (especially if it doesn't harm a person other than the one doing the action), let them choose what to do instead of imposing your morals onto them

If I wanted fruit in my dessert I'd have a pie or a danish or tart or whatever similar kind of pastry. Cake is cake and that's it.

The French apparently revolted after they had to eat cake, so it seems that you're not the only one.

The cake itself is better than any of its topping, frosting, fruit or otherwise.

I look beautiful, thank you Linaviar. Wanted to gift you postmaster, but you already have it. Can I give you something else?

I mean in America it’s hard to fight a good chocolate cake.. where the icing is not an abomination. It is too sweet, too dense and yet empty.

Also controversial opinion but chocolate glazing on donuts is disgusting.

Even more controversial, donuts are disgusting

No, donuts are perfect. Even if you hate the dough, you can still enjoy the hole.

Nah; the thanks are plenty.

Agadar wrote:No, donuts are perfect. Even if you hate the dough, you can still enjoy the hole.

I'm allergic to nuts so it's just the dough for me :/

Nuts are high in protein but they’re too bitter IMO.

Insert joke about nuts

Only good kind of cake is lemon or poppyseed
