I'm still waiting on getting my passion for stuff back.
Austrovik-Germania and Thuzbekistan
It's been really quiet the past couple days
Yeah, life man.
The sound of silence is a treasure in this day and age of vocal minorities and drama queens.
Miklania, Wellsia, Austrovik-Germania, and Nhoor
Hello. I'm new around here.
How did you hear about The Western Isles?
I saw that it was one of the major roleplaying regions and liked the lack of an offsite forum, which should make RP easier.
What's some information about yourself (hobbies, interests, country, etc.)?
I live in the UK. I like classical civilisation, languages and astronomy.
What kind of nation are you trying to make?
A small, isolationist city state. I should get working on some factbooks.
How long does it take to get a map spot after applying?
Hello! Welcome to TWI :D Just in case you haven't seen it, here's the welcome dispatch:
I like your idea of a small, isolationist city-state. Can't wait to see what you cook up.
As Dragao do Mar said, it usually takes a week or so to get onto the map after applying. However, if Vancouvia is busy, it might take as long as two weeks (but rarely more).
A word of advice: do not travel to these four hangates. The rest of the country is damn fine. The North is where your industries of Myagdi Island and great buildings of New Libang and the wonders of Arun Valley are at. Even geographically southern hangates like Sinja and Tamsaling get triggered at the "South" label.
Okay, but we do need to have a dispatch about War against SHOCK or something. Ignore the rest, would your nation have been involved in War Against SHOCK?. Those groups and places are a mess anyways.

Of course
Is there a minimum population cap?
If you want to have a city state, I guess there are some requirements to reflect cityness. But then again, there is a settlement in the Netherlands that is a city in name but has only 157 inhabitants.

Razzgriz, Austrovik-Germania, and Aktokra
I was thinking more about the regional rules.
There's no minimum population cap. Only a maximum one, rules-wise.
If you need to know what the population of other nations in TWI are like to determine yours, you can take a look here:
Hello magical place!
This dispatch will outline the rankings of The Western Isles map nations based on:
-
(1) Population
(2) GDP
(3) GDP/capita
All information gathered are from the published factbooks of respective nations.
Some nations are missing. These are for various reasons, such as unclear information, conflicting information, lack of information, or numbers that breaches the hard limit set for TWI map nations. Remember, population cannot exceed 40 million, and GDP/capita cannot exceed $40,000 (and by extension, GDP cannot exceed $1.6 trillion)
Additionally, for some nations that are listed, I have inferred some statistics based on the information already provided. So for example, if population and GDP were provided, but not GDP/capita, I calculated and inferred that statistic, so as to be able to fully include that nation on these rankings.
These rankings may also be used by newer members to plan around how they want their statistics to be in light of the rest of the Region.
Otherwise, this is mostly for fun and information.
So without further ado, I present the rankings:

Some will note that the map changes constantly, almost every week, as civilisations rise and fall. It might also be noted that regular members change their statistics all the time, as opinions about power and might change from time to time. In light of this, please note that this dispatch is a one-off thing, and will likely become out of date by the next map update. It will not be updated regularly, if ever, due to the complexity and time-consuming nature of such a task.
Until then, sleep tight magical place.
Nezaeva is below average in all categories, woooo!

I created an Issue Draft: viewtopic.php?f=13&t=468486
What do y'all think of it? Specifically, should I change the last effect line?
Corindia is just man who is unfathomably wealthy
Balnik, Belle ilse en terre, Austrovik-Germania, Dothrakia, and 1 otherKyrazakhstan
What is the value of the Nezaevan pound in US$?
1 : 1.25, its a 1:1 of the sterling pound
Going to be gone for a week, will have phone only. Limited access.
Razzgriz, Greater Cesnica, and Dothrakia
Anyone think its interesting that people are talking about what a big threat it is to the F-35 that Turkey will have the S-400 but no one is talking about the fact that a NATO ally will have the most advanced Russian Air Defense system and we could definitely have our techs pick it apart.
aren't the F-35s not that good in the first place?
The WA's recent resolutions have moved me from being an inoffensive centrist democracy to a demsoc nation...
EDIT: Phew. We're back now. Only took five over-conservative responses to issues.
Almorea and Nhoor
I'm probably going to end up with the smallest population here.
