One day, it started. The purge. The Swiss radicals believed that they had enough people that had been converted to their side to begin a major revolution, and to purge any opposition. They knew that speed was of the essence, because once the rebellion launched, the larger nations would be sure to send their armies and navies. A former captain in the Swiss army began the first revolt. He had around 120 men at his disposal, and around 50 machetes, 40 rifles, and 60 pistols. He distributed these according to their skill, with cult members being armed to the teeth, while the other workers had only one firearm each. At dawn, they raided a nearby control camp, which housed some of the top brass of the surrounding camps, and killed everyone inside. Around this time, the areas which had foreign troops stationed in them were given heavier weaponry and revolted. One such example was when a group of radicals, only 5, actually, were given command of around 500 rounds of 0.36 ammunition and a light maxim machine gun. They managed to hold off over 200 American soldiers before their gun overheated and they had to abandon their post. This was a highly coordinated attack, and although some groups went rouge, the overall result was a success. Most of the areas were considered cleansed, and, knowing that the enemy high command had most certainly been alerted of this unprecedented attack, they set up outposts around the Panama area, with sandbags and shrapnel webs, as a large naval bombardment of the area was expected. They retrieved all of the food and weapons, and soon many forts were set up, but they were mainly wood from the construction area. They would wait, and see what was to come. For MeatBÄll.

and also, it would not be wise to fight Britain right now.
They are way stronger than you, and also, i don't think they want war with anybody in the Americas, they just dont want you to get real friendly with the Germans.

maybe they should of thought of the repercussions when they let the confederates in their alliance. the fact that they are so strong is exactly why we need the Germans, because we get rolled without them.

Slavers being so close to the Brits is kinda worrying

Bug NCP about it, I just waved some cheap cotton in his face and he completely forgot about the whole slavery thing. Seems like England is willing to overlook the whole slavery thing if it means cheap goods from the Americas.

Which is weird since Britain runs a global empire and can probably get all that stuff from their own colonies

Intense leaps have been made in the technology of the world, with the technology of recording voices and music being one of the many technologies that have been brought to life by the later half of the 19th century. The Confederacy has seen the potential of these technology, using phonographs and other recording popular Confederate songs to be played for public events or to help boost morale among soldiers. The very first of these songs to be recorded was the countries national anthem, "I Wish I Was In Dixie's Land", recorded by the newly established Charleston Philharmonic Society and Orchestra with lyrics provided by W.A Cole. The entire song went as follows:

"O, I wish I was in the land of cotton
Old times there are not forgotten
Look away! Look away!
Look away! Dixie Land.

In Dixie Land where I was born in
Early on one frosty mornin'
Look away! Look away!
Look away! Dixie Land.

O, I wish I was in Dixie!
Hooray! Hooray!
In Dixie Land I'll take my stand
To live and die in Dixie
Away, away,
Away down south in Dixie!

Old Missus marry Will, the weaver,
William was a gay deceiver
Look away! Look away!
Look away! Dixie Land.

But when he put his arm around her
He smiled as fierce as a forty pounder
Look away! Look away!
Look away! Dixie Land.

O, I wish I was in Dixie!
Hooray! Hooray!
In Dixie Land I'll take my stand
To live and die in Dixie
Away, away,
Away down south in Dixie!

His face was sharp as a butcher's cleaver
But that did not seem to grieve her
Look away! Look away!
Look away! Dixie Land.

Old Missus acted the foolish part
And died for a man that broke her heart
Look away! Look away!
Look away! Dixie Land.

O, I wish I was in Dixie!
Hooray! Hooray!
In Dixie Land I'll take my stand
To live and die in Dixie
Away, away,
Away down south in Dixie!"

This song was released on records not long after, and is being sold to other countries who may have an interest in the song. Soon after, other popular Confederate songs such as Bonnie Blue Flag, Battle Cry of Freedom, and God Save the South are recorded and sold as well. As a result of these recordings, the Confederacy officially joins the larger musical community alongside Britain, France, and Germany.

I made some new lyrics for the Union version of Dixie, and though it hasn't been published IC, I would like to hear your opinion on them

We’ll set the traitor towns aflame
What we have lost we shall reclaim
Right away! Come away! Right away! come away!

Once more the land of liberty
Will stretch from sea to shining sea
Come away! Right away! Right away, come away!

We'll all go down to Dixie, away! Away!
Each Dixie boy must understand that he must mind his Uncle Sam
Away! Away! We'll all go down to Dixie!
Away! Away! We'll all go down to Dixie!

We’re manifesting destiny
By marching south to make men free
Come away! Right away! Right away, come away!

Traitors have no place in the world
But dead beneath a Union sword
Right away! Come away! Right away! come away!

We'll all go down to Dixie, away! Away!
Each Dixie boy must understand that he must mind his Uncle Sam
Away! Away! We'll all go down to Dixie!
Away! Away! We'll all go down to Dixie!

we’ll turn them all to ash and dust
For any less would be unjust
Right away! Come away! Right away! come away!

We’ll let loose all our righteous rage
And prove an eagle can’t be caged
Come away! Right away! Right away, come away!

We'll all go down to Dixie, away! Away!
Each Dixie boy must understand that he must mind his Uncle Sam
Away, away, ! We'll all go down to Dixie! Away, away, we'll all go down to Dixie!

It looks awesome so far. It still adheres to the general tune of Dixie, the rhyming is pretty good, and it fits with the nationalistic theme of the Union at this time. I'd say roll with it.

It honestly looks pretty good. Plus, I took a semester of music last year, so I know a little bit about how to make songs feel a bit more organic. Everything looks good so far, but if I notice anything that might need work I'll let you know.

Good point, we don't have standards.

This entire cult might need to be toned down a bit, though.

Yea but they need to prove they can actually do stuff, plus thousands of civilians from Switzerland willing to work without pay would be extremely suspicious and with that much people at least one person should be caught carrying stuff like machine guns.

I think Britain allies with the Confederacy only to protect himself if you and Germany went to war against him
But i don't know how likely it is that he will go to war against you solely because the Confederacy does.
Still though, my advice is to try to keep peace with the Confederacy for now, just in case.

I feel like the way you need to pronounce traitors in verse 5 is a bit clunky, but I haven't been able to think of a replacement. on an unrelated note, when you took music, what instrument did you play? or was it more centered on music theory?

Seems like it, they buy their cotton without question despite their population being heavily against slavery and the large amount of cotton from India.

Yea.
Wait isn’t it a bit worrying for your “side” that the biggest cotton producing places in the world are on the “opposite side”
