True Europa State wrote:Honestly, I personally OOC view MoA (the nation itself) to be of higher standards than other nations. To put it simply, I see MoA as a more elegant nation than others, being of highest quality.

Even so, the MoA does not view itself in this fashion IC.
The communities within are certainly aware they can be much better than they are. But practical constraints limit this development, as becoming 'better' works very much against the MoA's very survival, in some fashion.
...and if nothing else, becoming 'better' would also likely necessitate ditching their culture and customs to some extent. So why bother?

The facial expressions of the Antarcticans seemed relatively controlled and calm, even despite this first question and the moral weight that it carries, showing that they were not concerned at all about the question itself, although there was some muted, well-controlled surprise from one of the aides, whom appeared to be one of the youngest among their peers. The professionalism of the main diplomat, most of all, was easily heard in her tone of voice, even if only the translator knew what was exactly said... and how.

"The Stalwart Federation, its people and government alike, oppose weapons of mass destruction as an evil, such that should not be sold, nor purchased... nor in an ideal world, should they exist to begin with.
Be that as it may, the realities of territorial defence against those who are ideologically... opposed to such sentiments, overshadows all such feelings with chilling reality. Deterrence, sadly, is of greater importance to our communities, the ability to claim moral purity is lesser, as such. A stockpile is therefore maintained in the Stalwart Federation, under a policy of defensive deterrence. We harbour no intent to use such tools upon others. Not on states, nor their communities and families. We seek only the prevention of hostility from those who may believe us fragile, in the absence of them. Pragmatism suggests we should not provide them such a chance for delusions."

There was no sign of hesitation in her tone, nor any hint that she may be lying. Her honesty and integrity are not of a questionable nature, yet.

Ishtaria took her time to process their answer before giving them a reply while her face remained carefully neutral every so often she would make her tacit approval clear through an expression.

She cleared her throat before she began to speak, the room silent save for the sound of Ame finishing documenting the answer of the diplomat.

"I concur, I ardently believe the eternal goal of all nations must be the preservation of life and a logical conclusion to that would be the opposition of WMD's which have the destructive power to end the lives of countless people and yet I must inform you that Lesser Yu is in the possession of a nuclear deterrent though we do not intend to utilise it rather we are in possession of them to ensure the continued security and peace of the Democratic States which we would simply be unable to ensure without ownership of them."

Ishtaria so far had been candid in her questioning and as far as observable had been candid in replying opting to tell the whole truth concerning both her personal disposition towards WMD's and the official policy of Lesser Yu on them.

After taking a second to sip some water she began with her next round of questioning towards the delegates

"Lesser Yu is fundamentally Socialist and while we have demonstrated in the past our willingness to cooperate with capitalist nations for the sake of mutual betterment it is not to be understated how significant socialism is to the entirety of Lesser Yu.

As such I must ask what the stance of the Stalwart Federation is towards socialism in its entirety but also our current First Secretary of State's manifesto which detailed a commitment to moderately liberalising our economy while remaining Socialist."

OOC: Just noticed when talking using Ishtaria as the character I use alot of imperatives and modal verbs almost automatically

Rapidash Isles news
Earlier today, infamous cult leader Tamera “Tammy” Bundleballs was executed by hanging. Tammy’s luck finally ran out as her lawyer’s final appeal for leniency was turned down minutes before her date with the hangman. Bundleballs was convicted for the deaths of 15 people, mostly poor immigrants, and sentenced to 15 death executions. Civil rights advocates say Capital Punishment is cruel and an unusual punishment, proponents of the death penalty argue that what Bundleballs’s cult did to their victims was cruel and unusual. While advocates pleaded with King Dean Clinton to reverse his earlier mandate and give Bundleballs life in prison, he responded simply in a press conference: “If she survives all 15 attempts I will grant her life in prison”. Needless to say, that would not happen, as the hangman according to most in attendance, did their job well and sent Bundleballs to the afterlife. Her last words were “I will see you all in 25 years!” followed by a truly wicked laugh as the jeers and yells filled the air as she was dropped where she appeared to struggle for several minutes before she was dead. According to various religious leaders who tried to get her to repent for her actions reported she refused to repent claiming they were the ones who needed to repent. Whatever the case, this very well may be the only execution in this case as a litany of appeals have flooded in for other members and with the public’s quench for blood satisfied. King Clinton is expected to at the very least stay the executions of the other members who, unlike Bundleballs, have expressed sincere remorse over their rolls. We will keep you updated if more comes in…

I'm quite literally just listening to some calm Japanese music whose name I can't translate.
Rather effective for diplomatic plots. That's for sure. 'Vibing' as the young ones say.

It would be near illegal for me not to share the version I'm listening to. This guy makes it amazing, and has so many other amazing songs played on piano.

As such I must ask what the stance of the Stalwart Federation is towards socialism in its entirety but also our current First Secretary of State's manifesto which detailed a commitment to moderately liberalising our economy while remaining Socialist."

Once again, the composure of the Antarcticans was that of calm professionalism... although they appeared to express, minutely and subtly, a slight sense approval towards Ishtaria's comments on both the similarity of Lesser Yu's policy of deterrence, as well as the mention of socialism as a core part of Lesser Yu itself. As for their response, however, the main diplomat took a number of seconds before she provided her response, although her tone was unchanged even so. There was no sign of hesitation or reluctance, no sign of dishonesty. If anything, a slight hint of confidence revealed itself, although it wasn't allowed out from under the cordial and professional tone that was coming to characterize this particular diplomat.

"The Stalwart Federation has, for much of its formal existence, considered socialism to be a key tenant of internal operations. Both in the allocation of material wealth... and the perpetuation of general well-being towards all. Formerly, it was considered an ideological stance, especially during the early stages of its formation. However, meshed with the culture of our communities and peoples, it has become intertwined with us.
We consider it now a part of us as much as one would consider their customs and roots a part of them.
Collectivism and our prioritization of community over self, ensures an ecosystem where socialism thrives, perhaps not in the sense that some may recognize, but certainly in spirit, more than anything."

She pauses but a moment to allow her words to be taken in, though she does not stop there, as there are more words to speak.

"As we view our method of economics as part of ourselves more than as mere ideology, or one 'better' method over another, little attention is placed on the idea of caring how the economic systems of other states and societies operate. Our priority, is simply on whether the people are exploited unfairly, or not. Whether they are happy, or not. To us, as long as a people are happy and a country's stability is not in peril, we have no business judging the type of system they choose to follow. After all, is it not those communities, those peoples, who choose to follow these systems willingly?
Therefore, along the same line. We would not judge the actions of your First Secretary, especially as the Stalwart Federation itself, has sought to liberalize markets unrelated to living necessities and rights."

Again, another pause, to let her words be taken in. Though, once again, she is not quite done. Although for differing reasons from the first. Differing reasons that became known, when she spoke a third and final time.

"I, in return, ask of you, a set of questions on behalf of the Stalwart Federation.

To what extent does Lesser Yu and its peoples prioritize the environment and its wildlife communities?
And, to what extent would Lesser Yu and its peoples prioritize the well-being of others over their own comforts?"

Anyone who gets their hands on a nuke is going to be intercepted and summarily receive a 5 course meal of 9mm.

To what extent does Lesser Yu and its peoples prioritize the environment and its wildlife communities?
And, to what extent would Lesser Yu and its peoples prioritize the well-being of others over their own comforts?"

Upon hearing the second question Ishtaria's demeanor changed ever so slightly from deeply concentrated and focused to a sense of confidence and slight pride in what she would say next

"Lesser Yu values its wildlife and its continued health to the highest degree this is due to a number of factors, first and foremost the citizens of Lesser Yu are keenly aware of the importance of conservation of the environment and natural world this is because as a predominantly island nation rising sea levels would drastically change the landscape of many regions in Lesser Yu making living there untenable, we have combatted this in multiple ways such as the creation of MoECA (Ministry of Ecology, Conservation and Agriculture) which manages the Ecology and environment of Lesser Yu who created the AgriCon Scheme which encourages urban people to live sustainably and makes it significantly easier.

Another is the 1976 Finance and Public services Act which heavily limited the carbon footprint of companies that operate in Lesser Yu and created the EAC to manage it by creating policies that limit the annual amount of carbon companies are allowed to emit alongside carbon pricing and encouraging investment in EVs (Electric vehicles)

All of these efforts combined have lead to us being in the 94th percentile in the region for Environmental beauty by the world census and the 94th percentile for eco-friendliness which is something we wear with pride."

Pausing to once again gather her thoughts and also to give the delegates sufficient time to process all she said to a sufficient degree, she then went on to the second question

"As the current Foreign Secretary and the Finance Minister under the previous administration I am personally related to many of the following statements and thus I know them very well and to an extent I must say I am very proud to say i genuinely believe that the Yuan people are perhaps some of the most compassionate and self sacrificing people currently around though it sounds like boasting i believe i can back it up.

For example Lesser Yu's Foreign aid spending is within the 98th percentile in the region and I cite this because we are by no means an extremely wealthy country but each year we dedicate 4.1% of our total government expenditure on international aid to some of the most needy and infirm.

We also have a well funded and extensive welfare system that aims to help those less fortunate than us as our current foreign policy is aimed at helping the desperate and unfortunate to live fulfilling and safe lives in Lesser Yu no matter which background they came from and with which qualifications they came with. We also are rated 0.89 on the human development index.

a recent example is our continued housing of refugees from Arthralonia who came here due to being evacuated during a natural disaster who unfortunately cannot go home due to the unstable state of affairs in their home country.

I hope I've answered your questions sufficiently."
