The infantry marched across burnt fields where herds of livestock which once grazed now lie dead. The smell of smoke and the distinct odor of rot filled the air much to the discomfort of the soldiers. On the roof of an old farmhouse the Sarkish banner was raised as a temporary indicator of the nation's new border, as had been ordered. They then turned back and embraced themselves for a long march back to the old border where the trains which had brought them here as nervous conscripts would take them back to the their families as victorious and celebrated heroes.

Meanwhile in the mainland, the streets had been decorated with balloons in the national colors of maroon, black and white. Citizens numbering in the tens of thousands flocked to the train stations at the old border to reunite with their friends and loved ones who had fought at the frontline. In the hours ensuing the end of the war, news of the enemy's capitulation had spread across the nation like wildfire and was the main topic on every radio and newspaper.

The Riyghsbourg Conference which was held earlier ended in the signing of the Treaty of Riyghsbourg and the surrender of rightful Sarkish territories to the nation, with a Sarkish banner hung in every town within the nation's new territories. Sarkis' victory in the war would mark a new era of empire-building, but for now the Sarkish war machine would have to lick its wounds.
