Only irritating her more was the small amount of knowledge she retained of Supple. Independence was one her strongest values, she sought reliance as obsolete, but she could put aside her attitude for another day. Crippling into the back of her limousine, she only caught glimpses of the capitol before collapsing into slumber. Her mind was clouded with thoughts, and none of which were about "diplomatic relations."

It appeared to the Vapian High Command that the enemy was not going to surrender, unless they had a few thousand dead. So, to end the war, Il Duce gave the order for the army to obliterate the tens of thousands they had encircled.
The slaughter was like nothing anyone had ever saw. The combination of artillery and aircraft bombings deafened all who could escape. Bodies torn in half from shrapnel lay all around, the men who charged into the fray were cut down, determined to stand. The enemy was unable to help their soldiers.
