Tommy is a journalist who openly speaks about touchy subjects. He was arrested for "breaching the peace" a couple weeks ago, when he recited the names of some defendants that were standing trial at the time (important fact, the names were already public and published in other media). Everything was livestreamed by him and a few others that were there, so it's clear he didn't commit that crime. After he was arrested, his sentence was suddenly changed to "contempt of court(?)" (if anyone knows what this means, it would be appreciated) and he got 13 months in prison for it, after a lightning-quick trial (could've been lawful, I honestly don't know proper trials can be that quick in the UK). Also, all release of information about him and his trial were made illegal for about a week, which is very suspicious. People want his release because they believe he did nothing that should've given him a prison sentence, and because he is a public figure and loved by many. One final important fact is that he is considered """"""far-right"""""" (pure nonsense, he condemns them literally all the time) and an "extremist" (though he did lead marches and speak out about facts, he never incited violence). Basically, he is seen as a threat by most of the media, politicians and "academics", so it's all very dodgy and it's hard to separate facts from non-arguments and lies regarding this case

If you're referring to his anti-gun stance, most Brits, conservative or liberal, are very pro-regulation. From the perspective of this progressive, he's as conservative as John Kasich- conservative enough but at least he has some sense unlike the types of "conservatives" we have in power.

As for him being arrogant, I definitely agree.
