Interview with the new old new Chief Executive Markanite

Could you tell us a bit about your history in NS and XKI, to those reading us that don't know you?

I've been in 10000 Islands for over 14 years now, I'm surprised seeing that as it doesn't feel like that long. Since joining I've been a Senator, Minister, Delegate and now I'm the Chief Executive again. When I joined all those years ago, I had no idea where the journey would lead and I will do my best to help the Islands. Until a few weeks ago I was the Delegate and got to interact with our allies even more which is something I had wanted to focus on to a greater degree.

Are you looking forward to returning in actively updating algonside TITO?

Since leaving the Delegacy, I've been back on a TITO mission and I'm looking forward to getting more active with TITO again. For the next while I'll be able looking at A Taco Paradise and will more than likely use my WA to build stability in that region whilst we navigate it's introduction.

How was your experience with being WA Delegate again?

I really enjoyed being back in the hot seat! I wanted to expand our relations with our allies and I was fortunate to be able to establish historic links with The Grey Wardens, Balder and Europeia whilst also holding events with our other amazing friends. These are actions I wasn't able to accomplish whilst Delegate before so I'm over the moon we accomplished so much.

Do you have any favourite term out of the four times you served as Delegate?

Definitely my most recent term, however resigning the WA for a second time was not a highlight. I mean, who does that???

Do you have any plans as Chief Executive of the Islands that you could share?

Currently, I'm working with the Council to evaluate various parts of the Islands and begin to modernise what we currently offer. Over the next few months you can expect to see big changes in the region which will hopefully make our region adaptable and engaging!

What's your opinion on the upcoming new Frontiers and Strongholds gameplay change?

I definitely think this will change the dynamic of the game, regions will need TITO's support more than ever with raiders setting their sights on a greater number of regions. I'm looking forward to seeing how recruitment will evolve and how we're going to respond to the changes.

Elections hit the islands

Ten Thousand Islands saw elections this month, starting on the 10th of January and with the results being announced on the 19th of January. Elections were held for the seats of Senator of Blue Canaria North and Senator of New Republica South, which saw Cataryn and Liberdon be for each respectively with no opposition. This was Liberdon's third election to the seat, while Cataryn is a newcomer to Council of Nine.

Both are joined by Lenlyvit, who was also elected unnoposed to the seat of Delegate. A new Delegate was elected after the resignation of the former Delegate, Markanite, as they go on to again serve as the Chief Executive of the region. Lenlyvit is a return Delegate, having served the isles in the same position before, having been elelcted thrice in the past, between September 2018 and March 2019 and again between July 2019 and September 2020 (equaling two terms, one 8 month and one 6 month).

The elections were accompanied by a cabinet reshuffle with Valentian Elysium changing minister hats, having been appointed Minister of Education just as elections started after having previously served in the capcity of Minister of Recruitment since June last year. In his stead, Aschente took office as Minister of Recruitment after previously serving as Minister of Education since September.

Legislative News

• Amendment NS 263-3: Registrar-General Reform Act, to establish the position of Chief of Staff as a separate office to the Register-General, passes;

• Amendment NS 357-1: Embassy Request Rules Act, to allow for the quick establishment of ad-hoc and temporary embassies for the purpose of interregional and regional events, passes;

• Clarification of Responsibilities Bill, to divide among other government officers the duties of the Senior Senator and reduce that position's workload, passes;

• Motion to rename Mayor Jabberwocky’s to "Bieber’s Beach House”, to punsih the mayor for his blatant disregard of the “Questions Only” thread’s singular rule, passes.

TITO News

• Cataryn and Juiulia join the ranks of the TITO Knighthood, having been the first two members of TITO to be knighted on this new year in reward for the continuing commitment to defending and TITO;

• TITO promotion ceremony sees several knights rise in rank. Among them, Field Command Kanta Hame, having participated in over 1100 individual missions, is awarded their 1100th battle star and the rank of Grand Knight Baronet Armada Commander. The weight of all the medals is starting to weigh on Kanta Hame's back, to whom we send our congratulations;

• Eastern England resigns as TITO Executive Officer after over a year and half in the role.

In Other News

• XKI officially announces it's future frontier region, A Taco Paradise. Further developements on what the Chief Executive and Council of Nine plans for the upcoming gameplay changes to come soon;

• Several XKI members are awarded for their outstanding contributions to the isles and to the community, be it through defending, recruitment, organizing cultural events, roleplay or in their role as government officials;

• Former longtime XKI and TITO member Louisistan reapplies for citizenship and for reinstatement to TITO. During their absence from the islands they have however remained a friendly presence in the region's platforms such as discord and have continued to operate as an ally in TITO military operations.
