We just deposed Premier Anton Sokolov in favor of the new Khan... Y e e t
If Anton isn't dead he can hide out in Khiva... and I doubt you would want to go against me, I'm a Republic of the Soviet Union!
Nah fam its cool just as long as he isn't here
Hello comrades, I have abandoned all my hard work in Soviet Democracy for this region, I hope it's worth it.
Oh it will be, it will be
Russia, long having been divided since the Preparation Wars and the 18 Hour War, has finally decided to regroup into a sovereign entity, the Reformed Russian Soviet Federative Socialist Republic, and with the incorporations of Khiva and Ukraine at the hands of Mikhail Gorbachev, the U.S.S.R. is on a clear path to being reformed.
At Minsk, Belarussians from all corners of Ruthenia came to meet in the Byelorussian ASSR Parliament building at the signing of the West Belarussian Accession Treaty, formally annexing the rest of Belarus into the Russian-controlled Byelorussian Autonomous Soviet Socialist Republic. With this, the rest of the Russian lands west of Leningrad were reclaimed and incorporated into the RSFSR, with the south of Russia formally joining the RSFSR after the North Caucasian Accession Treaty, leaving only the Kalmyks, controlled by Kazakhstan, out of the picture.
The problem about all of this was secessionists from Chechnya, Georgia, and Azerbaijan. Another problem was that the North Caucasus were not connected to the rest of the RSFSR, leaving the military out in open land in order to get to Caucasia. In order to remedy this, territory in the North Caucasus was given Autonomy and a small amount of land was claimed by the RSFSR and taken on the path to Caucasia. When marching, a large number of Russian in Crimea and Novorossiya demanded to be annexed by the RSFSR rather than the Kievan ISSR. Crimea has been taken into consideration, but Novorossiya was put into a sort of stasis. At the moment, Novorossiya is Ukranian claimed, but if any sort of problems occurs, it might be ceased by the RSFSR. In these times of trouble, Mikhail Gorbachev said this, "We might seem like some Imperialist power, trying to take over the world... But when I talked with the Chechens and Georgians, I said, 'You are Independent, We are Independent, we will make our policies, you make yours. We are all Russian, but we are different kinds of Russian. You may be part of the U.S.S.R., but you have your sovereignty.'. And I mean that. Our relations with the Kievan ISSR are icy at best, and I don't want war, but I do want to see our peoples united under the banner of freedom, and I don't think that requires war or backroom deals."
President Gorbachev then signed the accession treaties that formed the North Caucasian Soviet Republic, a temporary entity that unites northern Caucasia until more ethnolinguistic lines can be drawn.
*dabs in freedom*
The Treaty of Shymkent
Following the short reign of the Khan of Kazakhstan, the Kazakh Republic opted to reinstate that former Premier, Anton Sokolov, and sign a treaty of accession into the Soviet Union, becoming the Kazakh S.S.R. and giving up their territory in Kalmykia and the rest of northern Caucasia. Kazakhstan will, in turn, be granted all rights given by the Russian SFSR to Union Republics, meaning they will be able to trade freely and at a lower price with other Union Republics, they will be granted total access to all Soviet lands, and they will be protected and given almost complete autonomy and the ability to vote in the U.S.S.R.'s People's Soviet. With the inclusion of Kazakhstan, trade between the Khorezm People's Soviet is now unhindered, and the path to restoring the Soviet Union is being cleared, one Republic at a time.
The formation of the Keivan ISSR
A single man walks out of the Lviv Temporary Capitol Building, holding a single document signed by all members of the O.F.N.U (Organization For a National Ukraine). This man is Vitold Fokin, Provisional-President of the Keivan Soviet Council- a formally unrecognized group advocating for the reunification of all of Ukraine. The man climbs onto a hackjob stage present before a crowd of thousands- with even more watching from at home through TV's. The man clears his throat before shuffling his papers- taking a deep breath before speaking.
"People of Ukraine. This document I hold before me is the future of a nation. The future of an entire people. On today's date, delegates from the major Ukrainian Cities and towns- major territories and representatives of the various militia groups, have agreed to a single deal. A deal that shall impact Eastern Europe and serve as a beacon of hope to all those lost in the aftermath. On today's date, I am proud to announce that the Territories of Western Ukraine- stretching from our native city of Lviv up to the flowing tides of the Dnieper River are no longer separate warring states or splintered groups. Rather, as dictated by the paper in my grip, they are one! Rather, WE are one. My brothers, in 1922 we may have been lost to the Soviets with our national identity replaced by Russian Nationalism, but no more. To all Ukrainians I say this. The Kievan Rus, our former father-state of national pride, has risen once more like an eagle from the ashes of war and strife- and stands once more ready to unite all Ukrainians under her banner once more. Ukraine lives, and marches on!"
As soon as this single man entered he leaves, retreating back into the Capitol Building to a wave of cheering and applause. A nation once lost and divided- now standing found and United. A nation reborn from the days of the Soviet Union and free from the ability of Russian Influence- with a Nationalistic People who remember the days of the Holodomor and the wrongs of the Soviet Union. A new Ukraine.
President Mikhail Gorbachev applauds this but does wish that Ukrainians be just a tad bit more Soviet-Internationalist... He is all for a bit of National pride... but don't get ahead of yourself, Comrades.
By this he means no disrespect, of course, Ukraine has been through horrors, many by the hands of Russia, which Gorbachev hates. We wish you good fortunes, and Long Live the Soviet Union!
Errors in Cartography
Following a misrepresented map of the Soviet borders, two provinces were left out of the Accession Treaty of Belarus, leaving them only to be quickly annexed by the RSFSR and BASSR following a quick change of documentation between the provinces and the governments in Minsk and Moscow. With increasing Nationalism from Ukraine, the vitality of the ceasion of these lands was imperative, as they lie on critical river lines hard to assault across, which make a great defense in case of a Ukrainian invasion. This did not take long, only about a day, and the provinces were mapped as part of the RSFSR and the BASSR accordingly, and the whole situation was resolved peacefully and quickly, without the need for dispute or, in the worst case, war.
This proved to be at the dismay of many Ukrainians, who assumed the areas would be rapidly taken bu the KISSR, but this was not the case. President Gorbachev is all for Ukraine having its territories, but these places were not some of them, and as such would be granted some slight autonomy, but would ultimately be part of larger republics.
The Accession of Crimea into the Russian SFSR
Slightly over 51% of Crimea's population is Russian, some of which, granted, hated the RSFSR, but were more afraid of the Anti-Russian Kievans, so, just barely, Crimea's referendum to join the RSFSR passed by only a 1% difference, which would've been in favor of Ukraine, if the Kievans were not so adamantly Anti-Russian. This, of course, created more than enough controversy, but President Gorbachev told the public this, "Crimea is home to Russians, a lot of them, and some of the most important ports in the Black Sea. I didn't want to do something this controversial, but the Presidium and the People of Crimea urged me to do so. Crimea is an interesting situation, to say the least, there, and 51% of the people are Russians, not to mention the other ethnicities and ideologies that support us. This could be said about Novorossiya too, but Novorossiya is rightful Ukrainian territory, which I can say with a straight face."
Protests followed the annexation, mostly by Kiev-Ukrainians, but some by Crimean Tartars and Cossacks and Turks as well, but most ended soon after they started, as Crimea was designated as an ASSR, letting it make its own decisions almost completely free of Russian influence. When asked about it, the Sevastapol City Council said, "We are honored to be part of something bigger than a national identity, the U.S.S.R., a sign of international unity and prosperity. Not only this, but we are grateful for the surprising amount of Autonomy granted to us, as we didn't think we were this important, but so we are."
What will happen next is uncertain, but one thing is clear...
Tensions are rising
March 1st, 1960
Trouble in the Streets of Prudwell
Regarding recent events with Soviet Democracy, the Godnumian Parliament decided to depart the region for The Coalition of Socialists. Queen Josseline Pierlot convinced members of the Godnumian Parliament to hold a referendum on the issue. Queen Josseline Pierlot gave a speech on the issue, giving the citizens of Godnumia Verblentaul the choice to decide. The populace was divided on whether or not to leave Soviet Democracy, which resulted in the Godnumian Socialist Democratic Party (GSDP) to be created. Eventually, the Godnumian Parliament decided to act on the vote of the people and leave Soviet Democracy, 59% of the population wanted to leave the region and 41% wanted to stay. Not soon after, members of the GSDP staged a protest in Glenn Park, Prudwell. Counter-protesters gathered on the other side of the street and immediately started fighting the GSDP. Queen Josseline Pierlot believes in the right to protest but to prevent civilian casualties told the local Prudwelian government to deploy riot police within the area. The riot police arrived at the scene, declared the protest an unlawful action, and suggested that the GSDP members and counter-protesters move north towards the much larger Prudwell National Park where they have much more space to demonstrate. The GSDP and counter-protesters ignored the riot police officer's request and in response, they started to clear out Glenn Park. The riot police were drastically outnumbered with only around 130 men while the protesters numbered over 300 individuals. The riot police avoided direct intervention during fights instead relying on teargas which was much more effective. The riot police started in the middle of the park and slowly pushed their way out, arresting ring leaders of the GSDP and counter-protesters along the way. On 3:26, around 4 hours after the protest started, the counter-protesters and GSDP members were successfully cleared out of Glenn Park. The counter-protesters moved north to Prudwell National Park and the GSDP slowly melted away in the streets of Prudwell. The GSDP was disbanded later that day, ensuring Godnumia Verblentaul's stay in The Coalition of Socialists.
March 2nd, 1960
The Godnumian Royal Army had been somewhat dissolved after Godnumia Verblentaul's relocation to The Coalition of Socialists, leaving only Army Group Center, Field Army North, and South still standing. Queen Josseline Pierlot decided to use what remained of the Royal Army and annex the Benelux in response to a recent population surge within the nation. Field Army North marched into the Benelux unopposed, slowly marching into Belgium's capital city. They eventually came across the governor and the government building, who, in response to a find of Titanium within the region of the Benelux, unified with Luxemburg, and the Netherlands. The Benelux was now under the leadership of a single, unified, multi-party government. The Benelux was renamed to "The Republic of the Unified Benelux" and was under the leadership of Damon Naessens. When told about the Godnumian expansion into the Benelux, Damon Naessens was happy to cede the nation's southern provinces as they were prone to riots, though he politely refused Field Army North to expand further. Field Army North reported back to Queen Josseline Pierlot and the Godnumian Parliament about the successful expansion into the Benelux, leaving the gates open for a Godnumian Colonial Empire.
Minister of Expansion
Back in the USSR
With the west of Russia and Belarus cleared off the list, it was time to move back to the Urals, where the Russian Soviet Federative Socialist Republic would stop, and the new Siberian SSR would begin. It would take a long time for the USSR to be restored, but it would be done.
Today, Comrade Vladimir Putin, a Colonel in the KGB said this, "President Gorbachev does not want to subjugate the people of the USSR like Stalin did before him. Each culture and ethnicity will be given a Republic that they will be free to run, granted, as states of the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics."
When tensions arose in the city of Novosibirsk, a city that was not under Russian control, but was planned to be the capital of the Siberian SSR, a small division of the NKVD and a group of ambassadors were sent to the city to discuss the Neo-Soviet Union's plan and how they would be given almost complete independence. Upon hearing this, the Communist supporters in Estonia voted to unify with the Russian SFSR to join the Soviet Union, president Gorbachev stating that they would be given as much autonomy as they wanted. People in Siberia were still speculating whether or not to join the USSR, but that would be a vote for a later time. With the annexation of Estonia, claims on the Baltic States and Kola-Karelia were made by some members of the Parliament, with some advocating for war. President Gorbachev expresses deep concern for this topic, stating that war only makes people angry and that the whole act is cruel. People must be given democracy.
In response to this, the commander of the armed forces, a man by the name of Dimitri Voryschev, stated that "Prussian Dominance in the Baltic Sea must be challenged. Gorbachev might not want War but we all know that our neighbors do. Estonia joined us willingly, I'm sure the other two states will do the same. If they don't? So what, I don't care, but people will call for war, and Gorbachev can't stop it.", referring to the fact that a majority vote in parliament for war outweighs that of the President. In the event of a Baltic War, it is almost guaranteed that Prussia would be involved, so many are being quite adamant about increasing military budget, an idea proposed by Generalissimus Voryschev and Colonel Putin.
The Battle of the Urals
Following an attempted shooting of Colonel Putin at the city of Nizhny Novgorod by Russian Terrorists, the Russian Soviet Federative Socialist Republic formally declared war on the Russian Republic, a group that had seceded from the Russian SFSR just a year prior. Being led by a former politician in the Soviet Parliament, Boris Yeltsin, the Russian Republic made its home in the city of Arkhangelsk, far to the north. They had no real army, but they had a massive base of terrorists and rebels in the Russian SFSR and the other Republics of the Soviet Union, which distressed a lot of people. The Soviet Union had its own War on Terror, but this time it was in the homefront. To some of you, this may be viewed as trying to oppress Democratic supporters, but in reality, it is a horrible war on a terrorist organization that seeks to destroy our nation. Previously, they had been allowed independence, but they had tried to kill a Soviet official, and this would not stand. We are not taking Democrats in parliament and sending them to Gulags, we are letting them be, only arresting people who actually are confirmed terrorists. Anyways, back to the war.
Soviet armed forces, Primarily from Russia and Kazakhstan, assaulted the town of Kazan, where a large Civilian Militia had amassed with old hunting rifles, attacking the Red Army on sight. They were taken, mostly alive, and returned to the public, this time without weapons. At Kazan, a terrorist drove an extremely old T-84-83 Tank into the town square, killing 46 people before being killed by Anti-Material Troopers from Ulyanovsk. After this, Boris Yeltsin praised the man on public television, claiming he was one of the last true Russian freedom fighters. After this horrible display, troops moved on to Perm, where the Russian Republican Army had been assembling for a mass assault on Astana, the second largest city in Kazakhstan. Caught off-guard, the Russian Republican Army was outnumbered and outgunned by the Red Army, most surrendering, others preferring to fight to the bitter end, being killed in the streets of the once-great principality. After this, Colonel Putin himself led a group of KGB Operatives, taking Boris Yeltsin captive in Arkhangelsk before escaping to Leningrad by boat along the Karelian Canal Systems. Putin was scorned by Gorbachev for this but was eventually allowed to bring Boris into the Kremlin Prison while they waited for the capitulation of the Russian Republic. Following the victory at Perm and the loss of their leader, the Russian Republic soon did. According to the treaty, all territory east of the Urals was to be given to the Russian SFSR, but this would take some time. Only 10 Administrative Districts could be directly annexed, with the rest slowly coming into the fold over time. The first place to come into place was the areas directly to the east of the Russian Soviet Federative Socialist Republic, is the easiest and closest area to integrate. The rest of the land would have to be annexed slowly, leading to the people in these lands being able to get used to the idea of rejoining the rest of Russia once more. After this, Boris Yeltsin and his government were given seats in Parliament but would have to be re-elected after the next voting season. Also, with this. Kazakhstan was given the northern part of the province of West Kazakhstan, leaving Kazakhstan finally restored to their pre-18 Hour War borders. All things considered, Russia was declared *Unified*, because everything east of the Urals were to be considered part of the planned "Siberian SSR" and "Far-Eastern SSR". With this, the Russian population rejoiced, as the nation was at one again.
The Integration of the Donbass
Since its formation, the Kievan Government has been placed under the continuous strain of balancing it's goals of reuniting Ukraine with ensuring territorial integrity while not over-extending itself against the booming Soviet Union. However, wiith the Soviet Annexation of Crimea, the Keivan Government finally broke it's deadlock by declaring that it must act first to secure 'minority areas' before the Soviet Union attempts to annex more Ukrainian territory under bogus claims of National Minorities and 'Referendums'.
As such, the Kievan Government delivered a formal deal to the combined areas of the Donbass region- an area in Eastern Ukraine that houses a significant Russian population. Delievered to the administrive center of Donetsk by Fokin himself, the 'Treaty of Eastern Integration' lists the plan for the integration of the territory into Ukraine. Within its documents, the TEI notes that- under Keivan 'Statehood' the combined territory of Donetsk and Luhansk shall each house their own separate Parliamentary system with significant devolution- that being power of Taxation, control of internal spending, the ability to raise their own 'State Militia' and, finally, the right to use either Ukrainian or Russian as formal languages within the operation of their own State Apparatus. However, the TEI makes significant noting that if they agree, Luhansk and Donetsk shall be considered Ukrainian and that all their population, be them natively Russian or other shall house Ukrainian Passports and use the Ukrainian currency. However, even within the O.F.N.U, Fokin's deal has been decried as a 'desperate bid' to convince the borderland states of the Ukraine to rejoin Ukraine and not instead become a state within the Soviet Union- stating instead that Kiev should simply invade the territories before any kind of Red Army presence can be established.
A formal return from the 'Donbass Government'- that being the joint council of Donetsk and Luhansk- was received by the O.F.N.U soon after, agreeing to the deal with certain demands from the Donbass region. The most notable of these is the allowance of the Donbass territory to formally be allowed to set its own ideological standing. More specifically- where the Kievan Government may formally be Socialist, the Donbass Parliament shall be allowed to act in whatever ideological stance it believes shall benefit it most- such as Denationalization and the allowance of private trade within the Donbass region. Naturally, Fokin used his executive powers to force the deal to be accepted by the Keivan Assembly- formally bringing in the Donbass area into Ukraine. It is expected that other such deals shall be dispatched to other areas of Ukraine in Fokin's continued quest to 'peacefully reunite Ukraine' in a democratic and legitimate way
The Danubic War
After a massive riot in Budapest today, Soldiers that have identified as "Danubic Communists and Socialists" have marched into Vienna, the Kaiser fleeing to Prague to escape death. Almost the entire nation, from Innsbruck to Debrecen has fallen into civil war, the South and East going with the Socialists, with the North and West fighting for the Kaiser. Russian volunteers entered Vienna today to fight of a wave of Czech monarchists, losing the north half of the city before pushing the out of the Capital. After this, Prussia sent divisions to Prague to fight off the revolutionaries, the Kaiser agreeing to give up Bohemia if Prussia would help. Because of the threat of a Russo-Prussian war, neither Prussia or Russia have committed their whole armies to the war, but the tides of Revolution seem to be lingering in the air, and the Kaiser's time is waining. More to report later.
Only the 7th Motor Rifle Brigade, 109th Motor Rifle Brigade, and the 4th Tank Brigade can serve, any more and it would be considered intervention
Iíve decided to play as a Socialist UK.
The End of the Elections
Following an intense season of elections, the people of Russia voted for who they wanted to be the next President of the nation, and they voted for the Deputy Director of the KGB, Vladimir Putin, and he has taken Russia into a new age, one that some think will be forged in blood and war, rather than treaties and peace under Gorbachev. Former President Gorbachev said that he would continue to serve as the Head of the Politburo, as he was elected to do so, and attempt to sway Putin to be less aggressive than he seems to be. Putin said today that, "Gorbachev was a sort of mentor to me, I served was under his command during the Revolution, and I was by his side when we needed to get things done in the government. I learned from him that aggression and fearmongering is not always key. I won't be as much as a pacifist as him, but do not expect me to declare war on Finland for drinking the wrong kind of Vodka."
Along with his inauguration as president, Putin released a brand new flag, one that contains a folk symbol by way of a bird, and a Ribbon of Saint George to commemorate the Armed Forces of Russia. And, with this, the Russian Soviet Federative Socialist Republic takes on a new name... The Russian Republic. Russia will still be a socialist government and keep its old treaties in place, but these more ceremonial moves inch slowly away from Communism and into Socialism.
