Ephyry, Palace of the Freehold

"Your Honour*, it has been confirmed. Emperor William has severed all ties with the Eurasian Defence Pact."

Aenor Kessathihir Velareon skimmed the report. It was quite an amount of paper for such a short declaration. "And the rebels?" He inquired.

His Archon of the Exterior, Lukos Sytherihir Velitheos, responded matter-of-factly. "William has declared total war on their movement. We expect the armed forces of Pretannia to begin mass deployment of forces to attempt to crush Res Publica Britannia. They've been burning the countryside, and claim to be killing those with suspected rebel sympathies. In all likelihood, they're killing everyone to instill terror. By their own admission, casualties number in the thousands. We've yet to verify this number."

Velareon sat in silence for a moment. "Is there anything else?"

"Yes, your Honour. The Imperial Republic of Pretannia essentially no longer exists. No other term has been provided for their government as of-"

"And there won't be one we shall accept." Velareon interrupted, and then stood. "Their government has sacrificed all claim to legitimacy. We shall permit them to tear down their Imperial Republic. We shall not recognise any state with William at its head, nor any of those under him. As of this moment, the Freehold recognises them as war criminals, to be apprehended, tried, and punished."

Velitheos met his gaze for a moment, and then nodded. "There is also the sudden death of House Murphy. Res Publica Britannia has declared it a suicide. Pretannia regards it as an execution by rebel forces."

"That is a matter to deal with another time. The four houses do not concern me right now." He took a moment. This war was escalating beyond anyone's expectations. "India?" He asked with a single word.

"As you know your Honour, our aid arrived, and it should be assisting the rebel forces their establish some ground against the government forces. The Sphere of War determined that trying to push through the Gibraltar in the face of Komminlandic control and ATCO backing of William's regime would be a foolish move. Only the Batavian Kingdom and Kaiserreich are actively sending supplies to the mainland."

"Inform Archon Laeriar of this, and of my decision. I doubt he shall veto it." Velareon commanded.

"At once, your Honour." The Archon of the Exterior performed a slight bow and departed from the office.

Aenor retook his seat. The war was real now. And the only thing left for the Freehold to do was to win it.

*Due to the magistrate functions of the offices of the Freehold, and their inspiration from the Roman Republic, the Archons of the Freehold are addressed as "Your Honour".

Palace of Versailles, Kingdom of France

|
The King marched throughout the Palace, something he did when in deep thought, his advisors knew better than to bother him at this time, and few would go near him. However, Monsieur de Villepin was no normal advisor, and he just had to talk with the King. He approached with a confident air about him, he walked like the CEO of some multi-national corporation. The King, somewhat awe-struck with such a clear act of insolence, decided that he would listen to what de Villepin would have to say, his mind intrigued. |

| M. de Villepin | "Votre Majesté, I hope I'm not disturbing you, but there is something of great importance that we must speak about. It is the rebels in Britain. Our two nations have not been good friends throughout history, but to have a republic in such a place of importance would be a grave danger to the other monarchies of Europe. As such, we must establish a political response, I know not of your view on this, but I would recommend we publicly denounce them at the least, and intervene at the most."

| The King's curiosity was definitely satisfied. He motioned de Villepin to his Office, and soon a small group of advisors had gathered together. The most important person in attendance, at least after the King, was Général d'armée Jean-Pierre Bosser. He was the man to speak to if the Armed Forces were involved, and though his rank technically only allowed him command of the Army, he controlled all of the Armed Forces of France, as the Navy and Airforce had no effective Command Structure. And so, for hours they would argue on various points, the diplomatic repercussions, the logistics of any intervention, and the possibility of a probing strike. It was soon decided, that France would diplomatically declare its support for William, and declare the Rebels a terrorist organisation that would not be tolerated. Militarily, a probing task force of 10 Bombers, and 20 Fighters, would attempt to bomb Dublin, in what would be termed 'Counter-Terrorist Measures'. Furthermore, France would institute a policy of 'zero-tolerance' in regards to helping, supporting, supplying, or otherwise furthering the cause of the rebels. Any ships, planes, or people's found to be carrying out such operations would be taken or detained without warning indefinitely. |

| And so, Operation 'Préservation' would begin, and French Foreign Policy would be set in the minds of all the nations of Europe and beyond. Although, it would be 2 months before the Operation would begin, and 2 months until the world would see the French nation finally arrive on the world stage. |

The Kaiser Glady Welcomes Possible New EDP Member - 2001 (Deutsche Zeitung)

Recently the Ephyran Freeholds Archons announced their plans to meet and mend relations with Taralus, a history book
breaking announcement that has the world abuzz with the possibility of a Taran entrance into the Eurasian Defence Pact.
Following this, the Kaiser has come out to praise this decision, claiming "A Taran ally could be extremely beneficial
to help fix the Pact's current situation.". Now the world only watches to see how the Taran government responds to this
offer of hospitality.

Pretannia officially severes ties with the EDP - 2001 (Deutsche Zeitung)

It was only a matter of time once the Kaiser declared his support for the Britannians as the legitimate government of Britain,
that the Pretannian monarch William would declare all ties with the EDP severed. As a response his Kaiser Ferdinand II held
a speech to strike the declaration,

"Recently the leader of the illegitimate Pretannian government who has the audacity to call himself an "Emperor" severed ties with
our Pact. Many would say this is a complete disaster, but I say there is a light to this situation, and that is our forces will not
hold back in our assistance to instate the legitimate Britannians on the Isles. We shall show those schwein the full fury of our
armed forces!"

This severaton having been followed by a "March to Manchester", which the Kaiser assured cannot succeed against those that he props up.

The French get involved in Civil War! - 2001 (Deutsche Zeitung)

In a swift and almost surprising act, the French launched an aerial attack on Dublin and announced their support for the deranged illegitimate monarch William X.
During this attack the Luftwaffe countered swiftly with a force of 30 Tornados, who having suffered 6 casualties smashed the 30 plane strong aerial French force
who had lost 10 fighters and 5 bombers before breaking off halfway into their bombing run. His Kaiser in his speech against the severation of ties by the Pretannians
had also addressed the French involvement.

"It has been 60 or so years since the end of World War 2, when the French led alliance invaded our Realm in 1940 to enstate their unjust rule over rightful German and Dutch land.
It was thought that the French would have learned after their crushing defeat in 1946 that they wouldn't challenge our Armed Forces again, however recently the French launched
a sudden aerial attack in Dublin that our brave Luftwaffe men countered just 1/3 of the way into their attack over Southern Dublin. This attack will not be taken lightly, and
will only sow tensions between us if as if not worse then they were in the 30's. Wir haben sie vorher geschlagen... wir können sie wieder schlagen!*"

Most notable of his Kaisers speech was the phrase, "Wir haben sie vorher geschlagen... wir können sie wieder schlagen!", a phrase used in WW2 against the French invasion.

*"We beat them before ... we can beat them again!"

La Croix de France

In a counter to the insults of the Kaiser of the German Empire, the King has said that he will never bow to German Imperialism. In his speech, which was impassioned and emotional, he declared the German Empire a threat to all of the People's of Europe, saying that their blatant imperialistic statements were a warning about what is to come in the future. He also mentioned that the Legitimate Government of the British Isles must be put back in place, lest all the monarchies of Europe fall.

An Extract from the Speech -

"We, as a united nation under god, will never bow to the Germans! Time after time they have come to oppress and seek to destroy the French nation, but this is no longer the case! The French Kingdom was re-instated under my rule, and I shall lead into an Age of Dominance over its own affairs, and its own interests. Never again shall those that seek to destroy gain supremacy over us! We will fight to the very last man! France will never be lost again! Vive la France! Vive le Royaume! Vive le roi!"

As this speech was being broadcasted across France, a nation wide deployment of reserves was ordered, and thousands have left their homes to take up their military duties. The French Navy and Airforce have went into a heightened state of Alertness, and the Army has strengthened it's defenses on the German Border. In response to the aggression by the Luftwaffe, the 8e Escadre de Chasse and 4e Escadre de Chasse have been reassigned to gain Air Superiority of the Irish Sea and Dublin Airspace, and more are expected to join them. Meanwhile the Force d'action navale has be assigned to gain naval superiority of the English Channel and Irish Sea. This will be done in accordance with Pretannian Military Command, if available. If they are not available then the French Forces will work in accordance with French Command.

The Imperial Palace

The Imperium had assembled very early, virtually all members were seated and ready to begin. "Alright, seeing as we are already here, we may as well start." Said the Emperor. "So, first of all, this Pretan-" The Emperor was cut off as the doors swung open, and Adelaide walked in. The Entire Imperium was dead silent, most with their gaze fixed on her. The Health Minister was visibly confused, "What?" She asked. The Imperium was silent. James Renial, Creslon's easy-going defence minister, was looking back and forth between Creslon and Adelaide, trying to figure out if eye contact had been made. "Nothing," answered the Emperor, finally, "just take a seat." The Health Minister sat down, and the meeting resumed.

Throughout discussions of the Pretannian Civil War, the Emperor had zoned out. As the Imperium bickered amongst themselves, his gaze finally rested on Adelaide, who had been arguing with Alexander Finch, foreign minister, about a possible humanitarian crisis in India. As usual, Renial caught Creslon's eye, and the Emperor immediately glanced away from the Health Minister. Renial, sensing that the time was right, stood up to speak: "Now, enough arguing. It's time that we discussed Operation 'Get Creslon Laid'." "Yes! Finally!" Exclaimed some ministers. Adelaide, who was quite out of place for this topic, backed her chair slightly away from her table.

"Okay, so, we've composed that file you wanted sir." "Excellent," replied the Emperor, "pass it here." The ministers brought forwards paper and manilla folders. "That's the domestic side covered sir, but what about the international community?" Asked James Finch, Interior Minister. "Tell them, that I will accept submissions, but only from EDP nation's, and put a priority on Ephyral ones*." Instructed Creslon.

As the meeting drew to a close, Creslon waited by the door, as the ministers steamed out. When Adelaide past him, the Emperor smiled, and she smiled back, albeit rather awkwardly. But that did not concern Creslon. As he was about to leave, Renial stopped him. "Sir, take this, it contains information that wasn't in that folder." Said the defence minister, handing him a document. "Why couldn't you put this with the other files?" "Because I didn't want certain ministers finding out." Explained Renial, pointing to the title of the document:

'DOSSIER - ADELAIDE MCCARTNEY'

"Oh, I see."

The Pretannia Post

Rebels Closing in on London

The rebels have swept through the south of England over the last few weeks, and London is now in their sights. Fighting has already been taking pace in this area, and the riots in London were one of the beginning events of the Civil War, but no large contingent of the Rebel Army has made it so close. House York, the current ruling house, has left for India, where things are in slightly better condition, while the Emperor has stayed behind.

Trouble in Dublin

The French have bombed Dublin, but were chased off by German fighters before too much damage could be done. The Emperor was hesitant in his praise of the action, and is clearly worried about the ramifications of yet another power being involved in the war, especially one without allegiance to a major faction. Rebel leaders, through the Britannia Broadcast, decried the move, and swore revenge on the French for their unprovoked aggression.

Scotland Declares Independence from Imperial Government

Perhaps in an attempt to avoid the same fate as House Murphy, House Donald has declared that Scotland is no longer under the Pretannian government. They have little to no personal troopa, and have opened channels with the rebels, offering Edinburgh as a meeting place for the Council since the Manchester City Hall was destroyed. While they have not officially recognized the Britannian government, rumors are swirling that they will in the coming days.

The Emperor has declined to comment on the Scotland situation, but bombing runs have increased in regularity since the move from House Donald, and any members of House Donald in London have been placed under arrest.
