The adventures of Ursidae; the oversized Bear-Hawk

Ursidae leaps into an unsuspecting region

Ursidae was convinced he would fail but a glimmer of hope still remained, and it gnawed at him as the Hawks encouraged him. The hope grew and at last he gave in, plodding over to the same cliff edge where he had failed so many times before. Slowly, the bear raised himself on his hind legs, filled his lungs and took a leap of faith, all the while flapping his arms wildly. With his eyes closed he fully expected to feel the sudden and solid disappointment of the ground greeting him, but it did not come. He opened his eyes to find himself hovering in the air, with all the grace you can expect from a fully grown bear, above the very spot he had stood just seconds ago. Delighted, he didn’t even notice the clearly beleaguered group of Hawks straining their wings to keep him afloat.

Marshalling all their energy, the Hawks guided the bear towards the countless regions they regularly preyed upon. These regions and their Defenders were well prepared for a Bear attack from the ground, but what they did not expect was a sudden Tactical Bear Drop™. Stunned, they could do nothing as the Bear and his Hawk friends soared from region to region, crushing or disregarding any opposition they happened upon. Ursidae's flight was everything and more than he had dreamed of, and he had never been able to achieve as much success as he was now. On the approach to the last region he flung his head back, to take in the stars in the gradually darkening sky, only to be greeted by the sight of his Hawk friends flapping furiously in an effort to keep him in the air. Disappointment welled inside of him, and the Hawks worried for their friend as they came to the last region. With ease they dispatched the inhabitants and claimed it as their own. With the fighting over the Hawk’s attention immediately returned to that of their Bear companion, concerned with how he would be handling the inescapable truth – that Bears can’t fly. Instead, they found him in good spirits, for Ursidae knew he had experienced what no other Bear had and that more importantly, he was a Hawk at heart.

Having achieved so much success only a day earlier with the Tactical Bear Drop™ the The Black Hawks decided to break it out again. This time, however, the Fendas were prepared and the Hawks came up against stiff opposition. With Fendas nipping at their heels the Hawks were still able to hit more regions than they missed and even managed to end on a victory! Natives everywhere will surely come to be fearful of raining Bears now that the tactic's usefulness has been demonstrated on a contested battlefield! Ursidae and Ezkio decided to fly light tonight, and ventured into Nationstates on their lonesome. Unfortunately the fun didn't last as Ursidae had wolfed down way too much Salmon during his pre-raid snack, and as they ventured farther into Nationstates he gradually became more tired. Eventually, the Bear slumped to the ground, refusing to move any further. No matter how hard the Hawks tried they couldn't rouse him (even with Woryand and Miss Bad Life Choice's help), and they were forced to cut their flight short. The Black Hawks decided to celebrate the recent promotions the only way they know, by raiding! The Black Hawks did their best to navigate a laggy update today. Despite their best efforts they did lose it a bit it during the long waits, with Holor calling a STOP command, Jo forgetting there were other numbers between 6 and 14, and Ursus trying to start the raid on the 19th target.
