Following a recent party convention to determine our positions, I am pleased to announce TGP's new manifesto:

Thaecian Globalist Party

In the Thaecian Globalist Party (TGP), we stand for globalism, and increasing Thaecia's influence and relationships on the world stage. We are also on the reformist side of Thaecian politics, to a moderate extent. Our acronym is TGP and our colour is cyan.

News

  • We have just adopted a major new policy:

We support a mixed bicameral legislature, which would contain one elected body and one all-citizens’ body. We believe that this is the best way to maintain fun, competitive and meaningful elections while massively expanding on the democratic rights of Thaecian citizens.

  • We recently withdrew from our coalition with FREE, but have requested that we stay on good terms.

Policies

The following policies were agreed to at the most recent Party Convention (January 2022):

  • We support a mixed bicameral legislature, which would contain one elected body and one all-citizens’ body. We believe that this is the best way to maintain fun, competitive and meaningful elections while massively expanding on the democratic rights of Thaecian citizens. [NEW - THIS POLICY WAS ADOPTED FOLLOWING A PARTY VOTE IN MAY 2022]

  • We will be supporting a proposal requiring all Secretaries to be confirmed by the House of Commons

  • We support maintaining the current judicial term length, but we oppose term limits for Justices.

  • We would be open to discussion over renaming the President to the WA Delegate, with non-WA Presidential powers being transferred to the Prime Minister, although this proposal failed by a one vote margin at the conference.

  • We oppose combining both chambers of Congress into one unicameral legislature, but we believe that it may be the time to re-open this debate which was decided so narrowly last time.

  • We would support a proposal to create a body responsible for providing WA voting recommendations, which will be very useful for citizens who don't have the time, effort or concentration to read long WA proposals.

The following policies were agreed to at the most recent Party Convention (January 2022):

  • We will be supporting a proposal to allow the military to withhold sensitive information until after an operation if it is so required.

  • We will be supporting a proposal to reform citizenship, allowing those on an operation with the military to retain their citizenship during the operation.

  • We believe that the House of Commons should not be involved in military operations.

  • We agree that Thaecia's military should remain non-aligned.

  • We oppose the introduction of stricter anti-griefing legislation, and, if proposed, we will work to amend it in order to make exceptions for fascist or otherwise contemptable regions.

  • We support increased military autonomy, with Senate oversight to be imposed only after sensitive operations and for serious action to only be taken if the military engages in destructive raiding/griefing practices.

At the January 2022 Party Convention, members agreed that, as a predominantly legislative party, we should move away from foreign policy and more towards the areas of domestic and defence policy that the legislature has real influence over. Nevertheless, we are still vehemently globalist in our ideals.
