Supposedly the Postal Service has a package for me with an expected delivery of Wed. It's coming from FL, but otherwise I have no idea what the item is.

It's probably some random piece of merch from the Contracting company. They like to randomly send items out, with the delivery notification being the 1st indication of it.

Guess we'll find out.

I bet it’s Billy Napier‘s buyout because Florida lost to the Aggies 33-20

I hope it's a canned Urban Meyer to help Mark Stoops be able to actually beat Georgia next time!

what about Urban Meyer helping out Mike Norvell and FSU they need it more then Kentucky. To be honest i wish that Kentucky did win but then TU would have been put at number 1 so I'm happy and sad at the same time.

As Summer officially winds down this week, let's end it with Movie soundtracks. 1st is the franchise continuing off a book into a movie. 'Life Finds a way.' Just watch out for those big piles of Dino poop.

Forest News

Howdy y'all!

Despite being late by 2 days (Sorry! I got really busy IRL), I am very pleased to announce the launch of our Forest Keeper Election Poll of September 2024! Our candidates are, in alphabetical order:

Anxious and Kevin
Atsvea
Crawlaysia
Garbelia
Luadastmaa

--------------------------
Egre did not appear on the ballot for the Forest Keeper Election Poll because they have exited the Forest Keeper Elections.

This poll will run for three days, and will end with either the formal announcement of our next Forest Keeper (should a candidate secure 50% +1 of the validly-cast votes), or else with the immediate launch of the Runoff Poll (should no candidate secure a majority, in which case the top two nations will advance to a runoff).

Y’all might find this interesting:

Well... shoot. The Mk. 2 is already filled up. "Large amounts of data" which.. I suppose makes sense thanks to 200+ shots from Japan.

And with that:

Valentine Z's Photography Adventures - Mk. 3

As some of you can tell by now, I do a lot of photography in my free time! Almost all the time it is a hobby thing - there were times when I do take photos with my family, or friends... and even then, I would not receive any money from it*. Not that I want to, actually. I do this for fun first and foremost, and being able to hone my skills just by taking a lot of photos have been nothing short of fantastic! And hey, you're your own boss in a hobby. I get free reign on where I want to go, and where I want to take shots!

* If in the event that I entered a photo for a competition with actual money involved, I will NOT be using NationStates to promote or involve it in any way, and will not tell about the contest until it's over.

My current equipment:
- Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra.
- LG V60.
- DSLR first and foremost - Nikon D850, attached with 24-105 mm Sigma Lens, full-frame.
- Sony AXP-35 (a camcorder, might do some little shorts, too).

Due to Imgur's limit, as well as to ease on your data plans, each picture should be 20 MB max, so the maximum data you will need is 20 MB times the number of shots in each spoiler. Again, please do make sure that you have enough!

Imgur also reduced the photo sizes! For example, my DSLR shots without cropping are 8256 x 5504. It's reduced to 5000 x 3333. Darn it all. So for the time being, I am torn on using Flickr (and Flickr Pro) or Imgur.

Forest news

Dear Texan friends,

It's a lot easier to fundraise these days. My cousins just sent out an email about their school fundraiser with a link to donate.

I would have preferred that method to making a dozen or so phone calls to friends & family

The more I read about the Israeli exploding electronics operation, the more my respect grows. The ladies and gentlemen of Mossad never cease to amaze.

My initial assessment was wrong. I was thinking some kind of self destruct device to protect the Hezbollah pagers from loss or capture. It appears Israeli operatives intercepted a shipment or shipments of digital pagers totaling 5000 units and added a special feature to each one. Now other electronics like hand held radios and fingerprint scanners are exploding.

Think about what the Israelis had to do in order to pull this off.

Somewhere in transit, or possibly at the source, all those electronics were unboxed. A surprise was added to each unit (probably in the battery). Either each board was modified on each item, or the entire board was swapped out with a "custom" board. Then they were repackaged back into original condition and sent on their way.

All of this was done inside of a time frame and with such care that the electronincs raised no suspicion what so ever upon receipt.

Got to tell you, I am really impressed. Well done, people. Well done indeed.

Respect.

If the cat sniffs it and makes a bee-line for the door, don't open it.

Well, whoever sent the item sent it to my old CA address from like 8 years ago. So.... that's 1 mystery that probably won't be solved

As I missed yeasterday, we're doing a 2 for 1.

1st is the iconic theme from The Good The Bad And the Ugly.

2nd is a medley of James Bond themes

How did they get that old address?

Don't even know who the sender was, so I have no idea

Today's theme is easy, as they played it on the radio this afternoon.

The main theme for Lawrence of Arab

***** Texas Saturday Breakfast *****

YipYipYippee! Are you ready for some Saturday Breakfast, still All-Fresh? Bring out the Drones! The NewTexas Happy Taco Stands, in conjunction with the NewTexas Incendiary Corporation, has approximately 1 trillion of the fastest, lightest drones you have ever seen. This fleet is specially designed to deliver tacos to every man, woman, child, whatever, in Texas, all 2,306,404,000,000 of you.

Today's special breakfast will be Saturday Potato & Egg Breakfast Tacos [COVID-19 CCXXV Edition]! Even though this pleasantly mild taco is made with only two ingredients, it is delightfully decadent when everything is fresh. Simply put, NewTexas-grown Yukon Gold potatoes are cubed and lightly browned in farm-fresh Texas creamery butter with just a hint of onion and hearty, rich, yellow, pillow-ey, Grade-A scrambled eggs! A giant scoop is gently ladled into homemade flour tortillas and wrapped up tight just for you, Texas! Remember, A whole egg in every taco!®

Today's Special Salsa is a Texas tradition - Chile Quemado - our fiery roasted salsa made from tomatoes, onions, garlic, and jalapeños roasted fresh on the grill. The tacos are hermetically sealed in a Stay-Warm® pouch that is wrapped in the same ol' aluminum foil we are all so familiar with for our breakfast taco. The Juice Bar will not be possible this week. But, for your beverage needs, a packet of Sanka, Tang and a Lipton Tea bag will be included with every delivery as well as salt and pepper and a napkin. Yes, it is different, but it works and you do not even have to leave your residence. Woo! And, watch out for the drones! Start your day off the right way; munch out and go back to sleep. You know you want to!®

Stay Safe Texas. Stay Well. Hang in there!

You should celebrate by watching The hunt for Red October, Red Dragon, and Red Dawn. See what I did there? None of them have to do with baseball.

Today marks the official start of Fall, or Autumn as it's known.

Those guys are a hoot. I put them on TV from Red Butte Garden in Salt Lake City something like 10-12 years ago. Really enjoyed that gig.
