**** New WA Resolution Notification *****

There is currently a new General Assembly Resolution at vote. When expressing your opinion, please note which Resolution it is for. And remember Texans, your individual vote does count!

The new Resolution is called:
"Fair Depository Standards Act
A resolution to enact uniform standards that protect workers, consumers, and the general public.

Category: Regulation  Area of Effect: Consumer Protection  Proposed by: Lusane

NOTING the World Assembly has a responsibility to ensure the vital protections of consumers in member nations"...

<see the General Assembly for full text and to vote>

Commentary: The General Assembly wants to try and protect you yet again. This time, it is in the realm of banding, lending and investing. We disagreed with the opening statement. The World Assembly does not have "a responsibility" for Jack. Unless you give it to them and this is not an issue we want to entrust to a universal body with absolute power. NewTexas will go on record as AGAINST on this Resolution. This is only the opinion of NewTexas. We look forward to other Texans' opinions and comments on this Resolution. If good arguments to the contrary are made, we will reconsider our position.

The Texas response was still low on the last GA vote -- Protecting Personal Data -- which was passed after gaining 60.5% of the vote. As a reminder, all we are looking for is a simple 10% of Texans to say one way or another. We are a force for change in the WA. Every vote counts! There were 2 publicly-expressed opinions on the last Resolution with the final Texas tally running 0 FOR and 2 AGAINST and 0 ABSTAIN and 0 UNDECIDED. Texans were unanimous! Yay!

If you would like to take part in shaping the world you live in, please vote. Voting is a right and a privilege, please consider using it. And, if you are not a member of the World Assembly, we strongly encourage you to join.

All Texas WA Member nations please vote. Please make your Texan opinions known in Texas by 11:00 PM Wednesday and in the World Assembly voting booth by 11:00 PM Texas Time on Thursday the 18th. Current voting in The World is running - Votes FOR: 1815 Votes AGAINST: 6656

Big Tex

PS: Remember, be sure to vote at the World Assembly too!

What a pathetic gesture, considering I would never join such a region anyhow. Texas is my home and I'm proud of it. In real life as well as in NationStates.

Very sad and quite a coincidence that it happened on Holy Week too. I'm glad that a French billionare is pitching in to get it restored to its original beauty.

Seeker Alpha wrote:Was that meant to be funny?! Because it wasn't! Some things can never be measured in terms of value.

Absolutely not. It would be reckless to not have an insurance policy on such a cultural treasure. When I worked at an art museum, there was insurance on the entire collection, even the Warhol piece that was worth hundreds of millions of dollars. It's the responsible thing to do.

Also, be sure to get out to the forums and vote. I love democracy.

A vote for Trecdom is a logical choice.

Oh God! What have I done to myself?

I was tired of walking every morning and wanted to run again. So I attempted to make a comeback as an athlete before my Athlete’s Heart was fully recovered from my first heart attack. Unfortunately, my heart was unable to respond to the stress put upon it by my increased pace and work harder like it used to be able to do.

I am alive and recovering slowly in the ICU from my second heart attack. I would like to thank everyone from the bottom of my still recovering heart for praying for my recovery and for nominating me for Texas Representative Council. Will catch up with everything I have missed and reply as soon as possible. Right now I am still extremely fatigued and need more sleep. I have never needed this much rest in my entire life before this. :(

**** New WA Resolution Notification *****

There is currently a new Security Council Resolution at vote. When expressing your opinion, please note which Resolution it is for. And remember Texans, your individual vote does count!

The new Resolution is called:
"Condemn Darkesia
A resolution to express shock and dismay at a nation or region.

Category: Condemnation  Nominee:  Darkesia  Proposed by: Xoriet

The Security Council;

Acknowledging that Darkesia has taken part in the world of NationStates for fourteen years, and during that time has done many things that would be considered commendable"...

<see the Security Council for full text and to vote>

Commentary: The Security Council is attempting to Condemn Darkesia, a known subversive. And, if she were not known before, she is now. We do not think invaders should be rewarded with a shiny badge. NewTexas will go on record as AGAINST on this Resolution. This is only the opinion of NewTexas. We look forward to other Texans' opinions and comments on this Resolution. If good arguments to the contrary are made, we will reconsider our position.

The Texas response was back in the gutter on the last SC vote -- Repeal: "Liberate Confederation Of Corrupt Dictators" -- which was defeated after gaining only 11.3% of the vote. As a reminder, all we are looking for is a simple 10% of Texans to say one way or another. We are a force for change in the WA. Every vote counts! There was 1 publicly-expressed opinion on the last Resolution with the final Texas tally running 0 FOR and 1 AGAINST and 0 ABSTAIN and 0 UNDECIDED. Texans were unanimous! Um, Yay?

I am reasonably certain the Catholic Church is self insured.

It isn't the [Roman] Catholic Church that owns Notre Dame, it's the French government: Their predecessors nationalised all RCC-owned lands & buildings within France back during the revolution, and that decision has never been reversed...

One hour before the poll closes. If it's still a tie, I have asked a family member their preference. That answer will be the tie breaker.

Oh, my bad. Didn't know that.

I am reasonably certain the French government is self insured, but not as certain as I was about the Catholic Church.

***** Texas Saturday Breakfast *****

Oh Boy! It is Texas Saturday Breakfast! Since Monday is Earth Day, we will be presenting our second annual Earth Day Saturday Breakfast! In keeping with last year's theme, this event will remain an entirely vegetarian breakfast. We will be starting out with Spinach Artichoke Frittata Bites. These little delish yum-yums consist of eggs, scrambled up with a touch of dijon mustard and hot sauce for a little kick, poured into muffin tins that are topped off with chopped artichoke hearts, chopped spinach, chopped green onions, and chopped, small chunks of mozzarella cheese. These little babies are popped into the oven until they have a golden, sizzling crust and top. Woo, good stuff and good for you. Not into your eggs baked? No problem, we have a completely simple, yet awesome, Avacado Omelet topped with Guacamole made-to-order. Whole wheat or corn tortillas are served on the side if you want to taco-fy it. Need a healthy breakfast you can eat on the road? We have you covered with the Green Egg Hoagie! We take genuine Texas, farm-raised Grade A Jumbo Eggs and scramble them up with enough parsley, cilantro & chives to make them more green than yellow, smear them on a short loaf of French Bread lightly seared up in butter until golden brown. If you need a little more of a Texan twist for your breakfast, we will be offering the plain ol' Guac Tac - just guacamole in your choice of tortilla. The No-Meat Meat & Potatoes offering is Texas Breakfast Potatoes! These are rough-chopped, small bites of roasted red potatoes spiced up with taco seasoning, chopped onions, red bell peppers, and jalapeños. This dish will kick-start your Earth Day! Yessiree! Of course, we have boatloads of salsa verde on hand for topping anything and everything. The Juice Bar is stocked up with all the standard juices - Orange, Apple, Grapefruit, and Tomato. We will even add prune and persimmon for the festivities. Today's Funky Stuff is the Green Goblin - a Limeade, Mango, Spinach, and Avacado Smoothie! Since it is Earth Day. we will offer up double funk with the Chia Kale Pineapple Coconut Smoothie as well! Remember, Earth Day doesn't have to be just another day. It doesn't get much better than this! Start your day off the right way; munch out and go back to sleep. Of course, The Never Ending Urn of Coffee is full and ready to help you wash it all down. Texas coffee doesn't get much better. Enjoy Texas! You know you want to!®

Update on Verner' condition:

My lord is still very tired and resting quietly in the ICU and he hasn't yet been weaned from ECMO. He's never been this lifeless and quiet before. Even when he was in the ICU after his first heart attack, he could not keep still; he was constantly fidgeting, repositioning himself and shaking his feet in bed. This time he's so tired he's not doing any of that. Although I'm glad he's still alive and with us, I'm wishing he could go back to being athletic and hyperactive like he used to be so he could be happy again. :(

Please continue to pray for Verner to get well. We're very thankful to everyone for your support.

Trecdom2 wrote:With 9 hours to go, Tortilla chips have pulled ahead of Ritz Crackers

My lord and our 3 sons would like me to explain why our family aren't boycotting Trecdom's polls but we can't vote on polls about snacks. A lot of snacks are produced in factories which also handles peanuts. My lord and our sons are severely allergic to peanuts and accidentally ingesting even trace amounts of it could cause them to have anaphylaxis, a severe and potentially life-threatening allergic reaction that will require epi pen injections and visits to the hospital emergency room. So the only snacks our family can safely consume are sliced and whole fresh fruits and homemade sandwiches without peanut butter in them. Since they can't have these snacks, it would have been unfair for me to consume them and I've forgotten what they tasted like. That said, we do enjoy seeing the results of the polls.

**** New WA Resolution Notification *****

There is currently a new General Assembly Resolution at vote. When expressing your opinion, please note which Resolution it is for. And remember Texans, your individual vote does count!

The new Resolution is called:
"Repeal: "Protecting Personal Data"
A resolution to repeal previously passed legislation.

Category: Repeal  Resolution: GA#461  Proposed by: Imperium Anglorum

General Assembly Resolution #461 "Protecting Personal Data" (Category: Regulation; Area of Effect: Consumer Protection) shall be struck out"...

<see the General Assembly for full text and to vote>

Commentary: The General Assembly is attempting an Insta-Repeal™ of the just-passed, poorly-written Resolution that was generally disliked in Texas. As the author points out, there are some unforeseen side effects to the law that will have deleterious effects on minors and others. NewTexas will go on record as FOR on this Resolution. This is only the opinion of NewTexas. We look forward to other Texans' opinions and comments on this Resolution. If good arguments to the contrary are made, we will reconsider our position.

The Texas response was almost back in the gutter on the last GA vote -- Fair Depository Standards Act -- which was defeated after gaining only 17.8% of the vote.
