Where I come from (Singapore), we don't have to worry about hitting deers on the road. But good tip :P

Edit: I'm sorry for posting twice in a row. That won't happen again.

Didn't have to worry about that in California either, but here in Pennsylvania there's a lot more deer. Like last night, you don't see them in time to react

We have deer around some times. Luckily, I haven't had to deal with it while driving yet.

Well that's fun and all but hitting a deer is nothin compared to hitting a wild hog or cow.

So do you go for something small and agile or a bigger vehicle with a brush guard in case you miss?

Well I'd say we have categories motorcycle, sedan, truck, SUV, big rig w/o trailer

I actually like this idea. Motorcyclists can focus on the finesse of dodging everything coming their way. 18 wheelers can try to "plow through" whatever comes at them. Might be fun, but a bit bloody.

This is starting to sound a bit Road Warrior-esque! ¿Como se dice "Cow-Catcher"?

***** Texas Saturday Breakfast *****

Yip Yip Yahootie! Saturday breakfast time again! Dang! It so hot in Texas that it is hard to get motivated to make a big breakfast on days like this, so we will be serving Saturday Texas Potluck Buffet. We are hope other Texans will bring some of their own favorites. We will throw out some "starter" grub by tossing some big ol' slabs of sweet, eggy, golden French Texas Toast on the griddle and serving them up with some amazing, fresh, sweet whipped butter - Mmmm! Everybody loves grits, right? How about this - boatloads of super yummy, creamy, Cheese Grits. A never-ending tray of crispy, hickory-smoked bacon and Texas-sized ham steaks with redeye gravy will fill your protein needs. The first Bloody Mary or Mimosa is FREE! Moo Juice available on request. If you want more than that, we are actively welcoming Potluck. Bring it on down and serve your fellow Texans! Start your day off the right way, munch out and go back to sleep. Of course, The Never Ending Urn of Coffee is full and ready to help you wash it all down. Texas coffee doesn't get much better. Enjoy Texas! You know you want to!®

***** Texas Election Reminder *****

In Texas Election News, the Second Trimester 2018 Texas Elections Speech & Campaign Week is winding down. This Election is very calm, like the last one, is very light on speeches. There are not very many of them, actually, only one. Kudos to the Lt. Governor. With No Confidence being the sleeper candidate in every Cabinet race, a speech may be just what is needed to fend them off. We believe that here in NewTexas and are sure that will change soon (* dings Head Speech Writer *). This is just the kind of foothold No Confidence likes. The same goes for the Texas Representative Council nominees, none of whom have made a single speech in the nine-nation race for five positions.

Election Week starts Sunday, August 12, 2018, at High Noon Texas Time (GMT -6). So you only have about 1¼ days if you have any more speeches to make before voting starts for your Texas Cabinet and Texas Representative Council positions. We always enjoy speeches and there is plenty of room for more. Candidates can take it right down to the wire when the polls close but sooner is definitely better than later.

If you would like to make some Constitutional Amendments, Repeals to offer and or would like to propose new Articles, then you also only have until April 12th - Tomorrow! Or, if you just have questions on how this works, there is a link to the forum at the top of this page and a link to more information at the top of the page on the offsite forum! Just to be clear:

Let's go Texas! Election Week begins TOMORROW!, shortly after noon. Get out there and make your Speeches candidates or make changes to the Constitution. Threads are up and waiting! Let's go Texas!

***** Texas Chat Reminder *****

The Texas Weekly Chat Session will be Saturday (TODAY) at High Noon Texas Time (CDT) ***Saturday***. And, if you can't be there right at Noon, that is Ok, Texas Chat usually runs 3, 4, 5 hours with some Chats running as high as 7 or 8 hours.

The Texas Chat Site is here: http://texasregion.net/blab70/login.php

Please register with your nation name. This is a great opportunity for nations old and new to Texas to find out what is going on! We chat, we debate, we talk about the weather, we talk about stuff we like, stuff we hate, random stuff and more stuff. But, it is never stuffy. Usually, it is about meeting your fellow Texans and talking about the latest and most interesting stuff in NationStates at the moment. But then again, sometimes NationStates does not even come up. It is wide-open chatting with peeps from around The World both IRL and NS. It is Texans, EuroTexans, WannabeTexans, ex-Texans, and plenty of Friends of Texans. We have it all and all are welcome. Texas Chat, 701 weeks and running! For the math-challenged, that is over 14 years! Check it out! Good stuff!

I came nose to nose with a bull while driving a Volkswagen Bug on a back road in Colorado. Didn't hit it, but that didn't seem to matter to the bull.

I didn't say the bull did not care. In fact, he seemed to care very much. I believe the phrase I am looking for is "the bull took umbrage." I backed that VW bug up that hill as fast as I could hoping and praying there was no one coming my way over that hill. The bull charged about half the way before it slowed and eventually stopped in the road staring at me going backwards up that hill.

sorry ITB but I think the real reason the bull didn't hit is because he knew that if he did BEE would transform and kick his ass for messing his paint job up.

Anybody watching the PGA Championship today? Final round is today and Tiger Woods is back again, somehow. He's -8 and tied for 6th. He tees off at 1:35 PM Texas time (for anyone curious)

***** State of The Region Address *****

August 12, 2018

Greetings Citizens of Texas!

It is our great pleasure to announce that the nomination process is over and so are the speeches for the 2018 Second Trimester Texas Elections. As always, this is going to be an interesting Election. While only one Cabinet-level race is contested, every Cabinet race will be running against No Confidence. One of the current two Secretaries of State is running uncontested as well as the Secretary of Defense and the Lieutenant Governor. The contest to watch is the Secretary of WA Affairs race. It will be a tough fight out there peeps! Once again, there is always No Confidence representing "None of the Above" lurking, lurking. They can be a fierce competitor. We wish them all luck.

The Texas Representative Council race is going to be good too. All 5 incumbents are back to run as well sas 3 others made up of former officeholders of Texas Government. That makes 8 running for the 5 positions open.

In Constitutional actions, we got nothing. That is ok. That simply means we have a stable, quality Constitution.

The following is the slate the new Texas Government. This next week will be a time for each Texan, as of July 29, 2018, to vote on the offsite forum. Voting is open to both those who are registered and those who are not, however, if you are not registered, you will have to post an "Add Reply" to the message to register your vote. There are instructions pinned to the top of the forum (Please read them before voting!). The Polls will close Sunday, August 19, 2018, at 11:59 am (High Noon Texas Time). Shortly after that, we will announce the winners of the 2018 Second Trimester Texas Elections!

We encourage Texans to participate in the voting process on the offsite forum:

http://s2.zetaboards.com/Texas/forum/3000063/

Or, it can be navigated to by starting at the NationStates Texas Forum->Texas Election Commission->Current Elections.

Congratulations to all the Candidates!

Oh my gosh... I don't know if y'all watched that final round... but if you didn't you should seriously look at some Tiger highlights. It felt like the old, dominant Tiger everyone once knew was out there. He shot an insane 6 under 64 to reach 14 under par. It was enough to make him solo second place, two behind winner Brooks Koepka.

For perspective, this was Tiger's best performance in a major this decade and his best performance in a major period since his runner up finish in the 2009 PGA Championship (NINE years ago). This performance also moved Tiger up the official world rankings, from 51st to 26th.

Here's some highlights from Tiger's day for those who didn't catch it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q-kam9k9wa0
