Where's our Saturday announcement?

***** Texas Saturday Breakfast *****

Nosotros estamos listos! Special Taco Time! Are you ready for some Saturday Breakfast, still All-Fresh and today, all new? Bring out the Drones! The NewTexas Happy Taco Stands, in conjunction with the NewTexas Incendiary Corporation, has approximately 1 trillion of the fastest, lightest drones you have ever seen. This fleet is specially designed to deliver tacos to every man, woman, child, whatever, in Texas, all 2,662,008,000,000 of you.

Today's special breakfast will Saturday Cinnamon Toast French Toast Breakfast Tacos [COVID-19 Week CX Edition]! In honor of Pa Tex's birthday, for Texas' breakfast needs, we present his funky favorite French Toast, in taco form! This bizarre breakfast delicacy has to be tried to be believed! We have never seen anything like it before or after. This most unpretentious breakfast starts with plain ol' white bread soaked in as much egg as it will hold. The NewTexas Happy Taco Stands Abulas fry it on one side in a black cast-iron skillet with crazy amounts of butter. Once it is golden brown, it is flipped, covered with more butter, and sprinkled generously with cinnamon sugar. Once it is browned on the other side, they slide 'em out, top it with two slices of thick-cut bacon, fold it over, and esta listo, French Toast Taco! These suckers are unbelievable! It doesn't get much better than this!

Today's Special Salsa is - Pico de Gallo - a Texas tradition! If you do not know what Pico is, well, it is onions, tomatoes, jalapeños, and cilantro, with a touch of lime juice and salt. This will be a major counterpoint to this taco The taco is hermetically-sealed in a Stay-Warm® pouch that is wrapped in the same ol' aluminum foil we are all so familiar with for our breakfast taco. We are trying to keep it real, peeps. For your beverage accompaniment, a packet of Sanka, Tang and a Lipton Tea bag will be included with every delivery as well as salt and pepper and a napkin. Yes, it is different, but it works and you do not even have to leave your residence. Woo! And, watch out for the drones! Start your day off the right way; munch out and go back to sleep. You know you want to!®

Stay Safe Texas. Stay Well.

I'm planning on showing the first episode of Star Trek: Strange New Worlds tonight. It will be on Kosmi, so you don't need access to Paramount + to watch it. It will be around 9 pm Eastern, 8 pm TX Time. A link will be posted here when I get things set up.

https://app.kosmi.io/room/forpdq

Here is the link to the room. We may watch some Lower Decks afterward. We'll see.

Finished a book on B-24 crews in WW2. Think I'll continue the trend with Catch-22

hello im new im actually from texas :D

Another well-produced episode of Trek. I think focusing on one episode at a time, instead of one giant universe-altering threat through the whole season, is serving Strange New Worlds well.

The woke folk destroyed Star Trek, even going to far as to giving that whinny troll Stacy "I didn't lose the election" Abrams a cameo as "President of the Universe."

Star Trek has always pushed the social limits. Gene Roddenberry fought for a black and female bridge officer. But what is going on today is so far over the line it cannot be ignored. It is almost as if the writers and producers are getting their scripts off George Takei's Twitter Feed.

I watch things like Star Trek and other science fiction specifically to be entertained. I do not watch any entertainment to receive political indoctrination. The fact they are pushing crap on the younger viewers who tend to watch these shows is almost criminal. The latest iterations of Star Trek are all dead to me.

The people politicizing the scripts should all be dropped into a special ring of a very hot place, created just for them. Freakin' disgusting.

Star Trek has been political since day 1. We had the White/Black & Black/White aliens whose races fought each other to extinction. Thinly veiled criticisms of the Vietnam War (Brush Wars in Asia). Kirk's quote in Balance of Terror, "Leave any bigotry in your quarters. There's no room for it on the bridge." Kirk kissing Uhura, which probably wasn't the 1st interracial kiss on TV but close to it. Multiple criticisms of nuclear war. Episodes like TNG "The Outcast" or ENT: "Stigma" tried to deal with gay/trans issues. "Rejoined" had Jadzia kissing another woman. More than one episode touched on Rape/Sexual assault, although not always in the best fashion. We even had a whole movie about saving Whales.

Stacy Abrams had a cameo in DSC, but nothing in her brief appearance was a direct endorsement of her politics. As far as the plot is concerned, you could have replaced her with any other person and not changed anything Not the first time political figures have appeared on Trek. We had the King (then Prince) of Jordon on Voyager back in the 90's.

Was footage from Jan 6 shown in SNW? Yes. Were the producers saying the events directly led to the 2nd Civil War? Hard to say. This is the first time we've heard that term in Trek. The way Pike's line was spoken, he seemed to lump the 2nd Civil War, Eugenics War, and WW3 all into one conflict. The Eugenics War is likely still set in the 1990s, and mainly occurring in Asia/Africa. We had "Sanctuary Districts" in the early 21'st century America, and in 2024 there were the Bell Riots which may have helped set the stage for the 2nd Civil War.
WW3 eventually went nuclear and happened probably from the late 2020s into the '50s. Again, like many fictional Earth conflicts in Trek, the exact details are hard to pin down.

Trek has been a little less subtle with its messages in the past, but having messages, morals, and meanings (to borrow from Mission Log) is far from a new concept.

yea thats true but its really pretty tho, have you been to the king ranch??

Trecdom2 wrote:Star Trek has been political since day 1.

Yes they have. But now they've crossed the line into left wing fantasies and electioneering. Placing Stacey Abrams in that show was nowhere near as innocent as you make it out to be. You made my point for me about the second civil war.

The new Star Treks are no longer fit for human consumption. Save your brain. Stick with reruns from the older ones.

Give the Lady Lex my best. I was on her sister ship, The Ranger, a long time ago.

An MSNBC columnist opined that the Christian Conservative Right was hijacking students from the public schools. She said there is an ongoing effort to destroy the public school system. She called the mass migration of students to homeschooling and private schools racist. She called those private schools "segregation academies."

Yeah, right, lady. It doesn't have anything to do with the liberal indoctrination of students. Having OEM boys in the girls locker rooms isn't upsetting anyone. Turning students against their parents, their family values, and their churches didn't cause any problems. The fact that public schools are turning out graduates who cannot fill out an application for employment, balance a checkbook, or even read, isn't a problem for anyone.

So it has to be racism. Who knew?

Ok, quick poll: All of you who would put you kid in a US public school these days raise your hand.

No I have never heard of this place... The logo and name I have heard of but didn't know it was in Corpus

Thankfully there are 5 shows and several movies that aren't as "woke" as the new stuff. Don't like it, don't watch it. I'll continue to watch the new Trek as it comes out. As mentioned before, I think the episodic and less dramatic nature of Strange New Worlds will serve them well. Of course like many prequels, you know certain characters will not be killed off.

In an unrelated matter, the Command Chief Master Sgt of the Air National Guard visited the base yesterday. Didn't even know the position existed, makes sense though. It was your standard meet and greet and motivation speech from the Brass, but what's cool is he started his Air Force career in the Aerial Port.
