***** Texas Saturday Breakfast *****

¡Ay Carumba! It is Saturday and that means Saturday Breakfast in Texas. Since we are all supposed to shelter in place, we still cannot put up the tents. However, due to our most brilliant advisor, Eternal Emperor Verner Von Richthofen, we have worked out our logistics problem. Drones, drones, he says. So, the NewTexas Happy Taco Stands, in conjunction with the NewTexas Incendiary Corporation, has approximately 1 trillion of the fastest, lightest drones you have ever seen. This fleet is specially designed to deliver tacos to every man, woman, child, whatever, in Texas, all 2,278,976,000,000 of you. Oh Boy! Today will be Chorizo & Egg Taco Breakfast [COVID-19 Week V Edition]! This is no Gringo Taco, this twangy little baby is the real deal. Chorizo is a spicy sausage made in Mexico, Spain, and Portugal. The European varieties are hard and cured like salami. The Mexican variety, is fresh and ground like Jimmy Dean but is stuffed in casings (natural or not). While, like Jimmy Dean, it is made from ground pork, it diverges there in that chorizo is marinated in vinegar and chili powder. Today, we will be removing it from the casing and frying it up in the skillet. This produces a rich, reddish grease that is mostly drained after the chorizo is fully-cooked. We then crack fresh Texas Grade AA brown eggs into the skillet and scramble. The result is an orange-ish, not-so-fluffy, yet very eggy, very spicy heap of breakfast goodness that we are going to pile into homemade flour tortillas! A whole egg in every taco!® Because we also have plenty of refried beans and, in case you are just not feeling eggy today, we will include a Chorizo y Frijoles Refritos taco. A true Texas Two-Fer! You know you have a good chorizo taco when you have orange grease running down your arm and dripping off your elbow. That is our promise for your taco! Today's Special Salsas includes our expertly-prepared fire-roasted red salsa, delicately flecked with little, charred bits and the extravagantly hot and sweet mango habanero chunky salsa only to be tried by the exceptionally brave. A sealed cup of Texas' own freshly-prepared Pico de Gallo is also included. Tacos are hermetically-sealed in a Stay-Warm® pouch. The Juice Bar will not be possible this week. But, for your beverage needs, a packet of Sanka, Tang and a Lipton Tea bag will be included with every delivery as well as salt and pepper and a napkin. Yes, it is different, but it works and you do not even have to leave your residence. Woo! And, watch out for the drones! Start your day off the right way; munch out and go back to sleep. You know you want to!®

Stay Safe Texas. Stay Well.

***** Texas Chat Reminder *****

The Texas Weekly Chat Session will be Saturday (TODAY) at High Noon Texas Time (CDT) ***Saturday***. And, if you can't be there right at Noon, that is Ok, Texas Chat usually runs 3, 4, 5 hours with some Chats running as high as 7 or 8 hours.

The Texas Chat Site is here: http://texasregion.net/blab70/login.php

Please register with your nation name. This is a great opportunity for nations old and new to Texas to find out what is going on! We chat, we debate, we talk about the weather, we talk about stuff we like, stuff we hate, random stuff and more stuff. But, it is never stuffy. Usually, it is about meeting your fellow Texans and talking about the latest and most interesting stuff in NationStates at the moment. But then again, sometimes NationStates does not even come up. It is wide-open chatting with peeps from around The World both IRL and NS. It is Texans, EuroTexans, WannabeTexans, ex-Texans, and plenty of Friends of Texans. We have it all and all are welcome. Texas Chat, 786 weeks and running! For the math-challenged, that is over 15½ years! Check it out! Good stuff!

Trecdom2 wrote:I did watch the video. It wasn't outright suggested but seemed to be implied.

No, the only implication here is in the minds of those who would rather see this nation go down the crapper than see President Trump succeed at anything. Even if that something is getting us out of this mess that cannot even remotely be blamed on him.

Seriously, what do you think an antibiotic is? Here's a hint: It is a disinfectant. We are already using UV light to fight blood infection. Why is the question so far fetched?

That man is doing the best he can to keep us alive. Right now the President is putting in hours that would probably kill a school teacher trying to find ways to make this thing better for the nation. Why can't the never to be sufficiently damned media and the rest of the screaming left give the man a break for a minute. Maybe just while he tries to find a balance between saving lives and a depression that will make the 1930's look like the mother of all boom times.

I'm neither defending or attacking the Electoral College, but getting rid of it will not make L.A. County more powerful than half the Country.

Population counts everyone living in an area, man, woman, and child. Only citizens 18 and older are allowed to vote. When you exclude those not allowed to vote for whatever reason and those who simply don't vote, the voting power of LA is not as high as it appears.

Vincent's Sunday Surprise Beverage Bonanza

Howdy Dudes and Dudettes of Texas!

In honor of the late Gene Dynarski who was a Star Trek actor, today’s Sunday Surprise Beverage is Replicator Beverage Day! I've got lots of Replicator Units stockpiled right here with me and I’m going to use Star Trek Transporter platforms to beam the Replicator Units directly into the home of every Texan in Texas. Everyone will receive a Replicator Unit and it’ll materialize on the table closest to you. Y’all can order whatever you’d like to drink (and eat cause it's a Replicator) from your Replicator as many times as you desire throughout the day.

All Replicator Units and Transporter Platforms are on loan from Trecdom2. At 11:59 p.m. tonight the Replicator Units will be beamed back to him by the Transporter Platforms and then the Transporter Platforms will beam themselves back to him too. Thanks Dude! :)

I hope y’all enjoy today’s Sunday Surprise Food and Beverages Texans. Yeehaw! :)

Vincent

You keep borrowing the replicators, might as well just keep them. As for the boom whackers, check out Harvard Thud. That's their main instrument.

As a history student you should know how and why the electoral college exists. As a reminder, it is to make sure the less populated states have some weight in electing the president that will lead the entire nation, including those less populated states.

Let me show you how this works: https://i.imgflip.com/326i2q.jpg

Or, take a look at the county by county map of which counties went for Trump and which counties went for Hillary: https://2static.fjcdn.com/pictures/This+is+why+we+use+electoral+college_5ee769_6099976.jpg

One must wonder how much bitching about the Electoral College would be going on if it swung the elections left instead of right. Frankly, I think ya'all are just pissed because Trump won an election rigged against him, where the Democrats pulled out every dirty trick in the book (Russians, fake Dossiers, etc), with the press openly hostile to the man, and the pollsters said he would lose by five points.

The man won the election, fair and square (on his part) and now you and the rest of the left want to change the rules of the game to favor the New American Democratic Socialist Victim Workers Party. Do you see a problem with that?

I have a better idea. Why not run candidates that are not dead set on destroying liberty, destroying the economy, and creating and trapping people in government funded ghettos?

I'm not debating the Electoral College one way or the other. That's a whole 'nother discussion. Simply pointing out that getting rid of it will not mean LA County will outvote half the country as people only look at the entire population rather than those who vote.

I've never heard anyone say Los Angeles County could out vote half the nation. However California holds a little more than 40 million people. That is more than 10% of the total population in this nation.

But since you limited the argument to LA County, let's do some math. To make this easy, we will assume the same ratio of eligible voters across the board.

LA County's 2019 population count came in at at just a fuzz over 10 million.[1] The most recent state population counts[2] tells us that LA County alone can individually out vote the voters of 41 individual states and the District of Columbia all by itself. That means just one county in California can nullify all the votes in Michigan. Another way of looking at it is that all the voters in LA County can overturn all the voters in New Hampshire, Maine, Montana, Rhode Island, Delaware, South Dakota, North Dakota, Alaska, District of Columbia, Vermont, and Wyoming combined.

In fact, the voters in the State of California can nullify the combined votes in 21 states and the District of Columbia. We cannot have a situation where one State can out vote 21 others, let alone one US county out voting 10 US states and the District of Columbia in something so critical to all the states as electing the President.

It pops up on Facebook somewhat often. Almost 27% of LA County's population is under 18 and therefore can't vote. Then you eliminate those who aren't citizens, which I can't find that data. That eliminates more people. In the 2016 election, a little over 3 million people voted. That's less than half the population of the county. Therefore, the population number of 10 million really doesn't come into play.

I said, "To make this easy, we will assume the same ratio of eligible voters across the board." However, I have to ask you what leads you to believe that non-citizens are accurately counted and that non-citizens are not voting?

However, just using your number of 3 million voters and going for the ridiculous here by counting the entire populations of the states, that means LA County voters can turn over the entire populations of 17 individual states or the District of Columbia. Using those same heavily weighted specifications, the people that voted in LA County alone can out vote the entire combined populations of North Dakota, Alaska, The District of Columbia, Vermont, and Wyoming.

Thanks Verner. Can I please have Einstonia from Fort Verden as my prize?

That is better because it's more accurate than saying half the country. Whether the smaller number still proves the point is a different matter. I will point out that CA still outvotes the states mentioned as they don't have enough Electoral votes to match CA, although the gap isn't as big.

That's enough about that. Happy Monday Texas
