I write left handed and I feel ya on that one

Boozylvania and Queen falcona stark

Funny thing is, I'm right-handed. Dad taught me to bat lefty when I was little, because of the relative competitive advantage - not as many lefty hitters at that age, one step closer to 1st base, etc. But always throw and write right handed.

When I started playing golf in my teens, I preferred the lefty stance.

**** New WA Resolution Notification *****

There is currently a new General Assembly Resolution at vote. When expressing your opinion, please note which Resolution it is for. And remember Texans, your individual vote does count!

The new Resolution is called:
"Protecting Personal Data
A resolution to enact uniform standards that protect workers, consumers, and the general public.

Category: Regulation  Area of Effect: Consumer Protection  Proposed by: Marxist Germany

The World Assembly,
Appalled by the lack of a resolution regarding data protection"...

<see the General Assembly for full text and to vote>

Commentary: The General Assembly wants to try and protect you and your data and your industries. Do you know what would happen if this passes on a WA-wide scale? It would virtually be a class-action lawsuit by all the WA nations versus just the peeps in your nation. Um, no. Do you want to give the World Assembly that much power? NewTexas will go on record as AGAINST on this Resolution. This is only the opinion of NewTexas. We look forward to other Texans' opinions and comments on this Resolution. If good arguments to the contrary are made, we will reconsider our position.

The Texas response was still low, but out of the gutter on the last GA vote -- Drug Abuse Amelioration Act -- which was defeated after gaining only 24.1% of the vote. As a reminder, all we are looking for is a simple 10% of Texans to say one way or another. We are a force for change in the WA. Every vote counts! There were 3 publicly-expressed opinions on the last Resolution with the final Texas tally running 0 FOR and 3 AGAINST and 0 ABSTAIN and 0 UNDECIDED. Texans were unanimous! Yay!

If you would like to take part in shaping the world you live in, please vote. Voting is a right and a privilege, please consider using it. And, if you are not a member of the World Assembly, we strongly encourage you to join.

All Texas WA Member nations please vote. Please make your Texan opinions known in Texas by 11:00 PM Saturday and in the World Assembly voting booth by 11:00 PM Texas Time on Sunday the 14th. Current voting in The World is running - Votes FOR: 7776 Votes AGAINST: 4917

Big Tex

PS: Remember, be sure to vote at the World Assembly too!

Seeker Alpha, we are not convinced that it is an unwelcome invasion. The Founder has been awake and active while those actions occurred. They could and still can stop it at any time. It is not unheard of for a region to invite invaders to "liven up" their dead or dying region. We do not really know the whole story here Dale the Honorable Skeptic. Like you, we are skeptical. The immortal words of Admiral Ackbar always must be considered in such situations. Rest assured, the Texas Defense Forces will certainly keep an eye on it. Thank you for the heads up.

***** Texas Saturday Breakfast *****

Whoop, whoop! Saturday breakfast time! Today will be Breakfast Quesadillas Saturday! We are whipping up some of our award-winning breakfast quesadillas for Texas this weekend! We will start it off with The Basic - just plain ol' cheddar cheese, grated, placed in a small flour tortilla and toasted up in a lightly greased skillet until golden and crispy on the outside. Perfect in its simplicity. Want a little spiciness to your Quesadilla, we have you covered with the Mexican Especial Quesadilla - a regular corn tortilla loaded with a blend of Mexican cheeses - Oaxaca, Monterey Jack, Mild Cheddar, and Asadero imported from Sinaloa - topped with diced pickled jalapeños and diced raw onions then folded and fried up in a little Manteca. Arriba! We cannot leave out our friends from Canada, so get you the Canadian Quesadilla made with Canada's finest, and favorite cheese, Cheddar, grated up over half a large flour tortilla topped with two slices of lightly-browned Canadian Bacon and topped with gently-scrambled eggs, folded and crisped up in butter. Good eats, eh? Quesadillas are all about the cheese and we will present you with a Belgian surprise, The Camembert Quesadilla! The star of this beauty is a triple cream Camembert cheese with the rind removed, and sliced thinly and placed on a flour tortilla, topped with caramelized sweet onions and lightly browned in a touch of sunflower oil. Oo-la-la! Uno Mas! Our final offering will be a simple Pepper Jack Cheese Quesadilla made with a mild Monterey Jack cheese infused with jalapeño and serrano peppers, shredded and tossed lightly with Texas Grade A scrambled eggs and cooked, crumbled chorizo and then placed in a large flour tortilla (made fresh daily by a small cadre of NewTexan Abuelitas working all night for you) and toasted up to a beautiful golden brown and sliced into wedges. That one is the best since the cheese just glues everything together into one oozy-gooey-eggy-spicy mess that tastes oh so good! We have plenty of other cheeses on hand as well as plenty of more ingredients. Feel free to create your own, our waiters are ready to take your order for the Quesadilla of your dreams! Get creative! We will open The Juice Bar is with all the standard juices - Orange, Apple, Grapefruit, and Tomato. The funky one today is the Pommegranite Persimmon Cinnamon Slushy. Try "The Suicide" - we dare you! Start your day off the right way, munch out and go back to sleep. Of course, The Never Ending Urn of Coffee is full and ready to help you wash it all down. Texas coffee doesn't get much better. Enjoy Texas! You know you want to!®

***** Texas Election Reminder *****

In Texas Election News, the First Trimester 2019 Texas Elections Speech & Campaign Week is winding down. This Election is very calm, and, like the last one, is very light on speeches. To say that there are not very many of them would be an overstatement. There are actually none. Kudos goes to Talitha macer for her brief speech-like statement on the RMB. With No Confidence being the sleeper candidate in every Cabinet race, a speech may be just what is needed to fend them off. We believe that here in NewTexas and are sure that will change soon (* dings Head Speech Writer *). This is just the kind of foothold No Confidence likes. The same goes for the Texas Representative Council nominees, none of whom have made a single speech in the ten-nation race for five positions.

Election Week starts Sunday, April 14, 2019, at High Noon Texas Time (GMT -6). So you only have about 1¼ days if you have any more speeches to make before voting starts for your Texas Cabinet and Texas Representative Council positions. We always enjoy speeches and there is plenty of room for more. Candidates can take it right down to the wire when the polls close but sooner is definitely better than later.

If you would like to make some Constitutional Amendments, Repeals to offer and or would like to propose new Articles, then you also only have until April 14th - Tomorrow! Or, if you just have questions on how this works, there is a link to the forum at the top of this page and a link to more information at the top of the page on the offsite forum!

Just to be clear Texas Elections are here:

https://www.tapatalk.com/groups/texas1/2019-1st-trimester-elections-f273/

Let's go Texas! Election Week begins TOMORROW!, shortly after noon. Get out there and make your Speeches candidates or make changes to the Constitution.

Threads are up and ready!

***** Texas Chat Reminder *****

The Texas Weekly Chat Session will be Saturday (TODAY) at High Noon Texas Time (CDT) ***Saturday***. And, if you can't be there right at Noon, that is Ok, Texas Chat usually runs 3, 4, 5 hours with some Chats running as high as 7 or 8 hours.

The Texas Chat Site is here: http://texasregion.net/blab70/login.php

Please register with your nation name. This is a great opportunity for nations old and new to Texas to find out what is going on! We chat, we debate, we talk about the weather, we talk about stuff we like, stuff we hate, random stuff and more stuff. But, it is never stuffy. Usually, it is about meeting your fellow Texans and talking about the latest and most interesting stuff in NationStates at the moment. But then again, sometimes NationStates does not even come up. It is wide-open chatting with peeps from around The World both IRL and NS. It is Texans, EuroTexans, WannabeTexans, ex-Texans, and plenty of Friends of Texans. We have it all and all are welcome. Texas Chat, 734 weeks and running! For the math-challenged, that is over 14½ years! Check it out! Good stuff!

not really unless you draft up a WA resolution freeing the region or by counter raiding and taking back the region and giving it back to its rightful owners.

WA resolutions (SC Liberations) only remove delegate-imposed passwords. They don't do anything to remove the existing delegate.

Somebody already posted one. It's utterly pointless, as no password was set.

Greetings Citizens of Texas!

It is our great pleasure to announce that the nomination process is over for the First Trimester 2019 Texas Elections.
The real race this Trimester is in the Texas Representative Council! Not only do we have the five incumbents, we have five newcomers to Texas Government seeking to break into the glorious world that is service to their region!
In these 57th Texas Elections, as in every election, a well-made speech or no-speech may decide the final 5. That is a serious tip for would-be TRC members. * wink * Texas, please join us in saluting all our nominees for Texas Government!

Emmett salutes all nominees as requested and wishes them luck but is confused to be nominated too and has no idea why he was nominated. Great Scott! I have never expressed any interest in running for elections. Anyways, I'm busy with my university studies and spending most of my free time getting to know my new fiancée better before I propose marriage to her. Thank you for nominating me but because of time constraints I must repectfully decline this nomination.

To celebrate the birthday of our fellow Texans, the twins Arian and Vincent and because their Dad Verner is a heart attack survivor, today's special is a Heart Healthy Birthday Party Lunch. Eat all you can!

Starter:

Ratatouille Salad (Woman's Day)

by Mardi gras king cake

Ratatouille Salad (Woman's Day)

We reinvented your favorite veggie dish in salad form and topped it all off with fresh mozzarella.

INGREDIENTS:

1 red pepper, quartered
1 small eggplant (about 12 oz.), sliced into 1/4"-thick rounds
1 medium zucchini (about 6 oz.), sliced lengthwise into 1/4"-thick strips
1 small summer squash (about 6 oz.), sliced lengthwise into 1/4"-thick strips
1 lb. Campari or plum tomatoes, halved
2 1/2 tbsp. olive oil
Kosher salt and pepper
2 tbsp. red wine vinegar
1/4 c. fresh basil, leaves torn
4 c. baby arugula
2 large thick slices sourdough or country bread
1 clove garlic, halved
4 oz. fresh mozzarella, torn

DIRECTIONS:

1. Heat grill to medium-high.

2. In a large bowl, toss the vegetables with 1 1/2 tablespoons oil and 1/2 teaspoon each salt and pepper.

3. Grill until lightly charred and tender, 3 to 4 minutes per side for the pepper, eggplant, zucchini, and squash, and 1 to 2 minutes on the cut side only for the tomatoes. Transfer the eggplant and tomatoes back to the bowl and the rest of the vegetables to a cutting board.

4. Slice the peppers, zucchini, and squash and add to the bowl. Gently toss with the vinegar, basil, and arugula.

5. Brush the bread slices with remaining tablespoon oil and grill until lightly toasted, 1 to 2 minutes per side, then rub both sides with the cut side of the garlic clove.

6. Cut each slice of bread in half and transfer to plates. Spoon the salad and any juices over the bread, then top with the mozzarella.

INGREDIENTS:

SLAW:

3 tbsp. fresh lime juice
1 tbsp. red wine vinegar
1 tbsp. honey
Kosher salt and pepper
8 oz. savoy cabbage, cored and thinly sliced
1 Granny Smith apple, cut into matchsticks
1 jalapeño, seeded and thinly sliced

SWEET POTATO CHIPS AND MAYONNAISE:

4 c. sweet potato chips
1 tsp. smoked paprika

1 tbsp. low-sodium soy sauce
1 tbsp. fresh grated ginger
1/2 small onion, finely chopped
1 lb. ground turkey
2 tbsp. olive oil, for skillet
4 buns, split and lightly toasted

DIRECTIONS:

1. Heat oven to 400°F. In a large bowl, whisk together the lime juice, vinegar, honey, and a pinch each salt and pepper. Add the cabbage, apple, and jalapeño and toss to coat. Let sit, tossing occasionally, until ready to serve.

2. Line a large rimmed baking sheet with foil and spread the potato chips in an even layer. Bake just until warm (this releases the oils and helps the spice stick), about 5 minutes. Toss with the paprika.

3. Meanwhile, in a small bowl, whisk together the mayonnaise, Sriracha, and lemon juice; set aside.
In a large bowl, whisk together the chili paste, soy sauce, and ginger; stir in the onion, then add the turkey and mix to combine. Form the mixture into four 3⁄4-inch-thick patties.

4. Heat a grill, or the oil in a large cast-iron skillet, to medium-high heat. Grill or cook the burgers until an instant-read thermometer registers 165°F, 7 to 8 minutes per side on the grill or 4 to 5 minutes per side in the skillet.

5. Spread the buns with a touch of the Sriracha mayonnaise, then top with the burgers and slaw. Serve with the potato chips and remaining mayonnaise.

April 14, 2019

It is our great pleasure to announce that the nomination process is over and so are the speeches for the 2019 First Trimester Texas Elections. As always, this is going to be an interesting Election. While none of the Cabinet-level races are contested, every Cabinet race will be running against the ever-pesky No Confidence. No Confidence represents "None of the Above" lurking, lurking. They can be a fierce competitor. We wish them all luck, well, except for No Confidence.

The Texas Representative Council race is going to be good too. All 5 incumbents are back to run as well as 4 newcomers to Texas Government! That makes 8 running for the 5 positions open. We have a race, peeps!

In Constitutional actions, we got nothing. That is ok. That simply means we have a stable, quality Constitution.

The following is the slate the new Texas Government. This next week will be a time for each Texan, as of March 31, 2019, to vote on the offsite forum. Voting is open to both those who are registered and those who are not, however, if you are not registered, you will have to post an "Add Reply" to the message to register your vote. There are instructions pinned to the top of the forum (Please read them before voting!). The Polls will close Sunday, April 21, 2019, at 11:59 am (High Noon Texas Time). Shortly after that, we will announce the winners of the 2019 First Trimester Texas Elections!

We encourage Texans to participate in the voting process on the offsite forum:

Oh my goodness! Folks, that Sunday at Augusta was the most amazing thing I've ever watched! Why? Simple really- TIGER WOODS WON Y'ALL

Before Today, Tiger Woods had not won a major since I was a 6-year old Kindergartner. That changed today when a 43-year old Tiger Woods went out and won by one stroke at -13, winning a 5th Masters and his 15th major. I must say that it is the most amazing thing I have ever seen on Television, and I'll remember that one forever. The win moved Tiger from 12th to 6th in the official world rankings.

Question now is, how many more can he get? At this point, sky's the limit for him.

Thanks for wishing me a Happy Belated Birthday Emmett and Falcona. Speaking for myself I'm trying to change my behavior, mend my ways and be more mature. I've stopped being a prankster already. :)

Thanks for hosting a birthday party for me and my brother complete with an awesome multi flavored Rainbow Cake Dudette! :)
Thanks for thinking of our Dad and thoughtfully making the menu heart healthy too. :)

Thanks a lot for your prayers Dude! :)

Please continue to pray for my Dad to get well and hopefully be able to be weaned from ECMO and get out of ICU soon. Thanks in advance for your prayers.

Let him sleep. One of the signs of cardiac stress is fatigue.

Combos win the tie with a random picker selecting them over Cheezits.

I wonder what kind of insurance policy was on Notre Dame. Surely it was all insured. The French government would probably throw money at getting it restored, too.
