I bet you didn't know the WSJ follows my nation states posts.

Nuclear power is awesome and safe. Actually did a co-op couple of semesters down at the South Texas Project my sophomore year at A&M. Even got to participate in Initial Startup Testing on Unit 2 when it was coming online!

**** New WA Resolution Notification *****

There is currently a new General Assembly Resolution at vote. When expressing your opinion, please note which Resolution it is for. And remember Texans, your individual vote does count!

The new Resolution is called:
"Drug Abuse Amelioration Act
A resolution to improve worldwide human and civil rights.

Category: Civil Rights Strength: Significant Proposed by: Maowi

Aware of the addictive nature of most recreational drugs"...

<see the General Assembly for full text and to vote>

Commentary: The General Assembly wants to regulate recreational drug use in nations where such usage is illegal. Thye want you to contravene your own laws for theirs. Um, no. NewTexas will go on record as AGAINST on this Resolution. This is only the opinion of NewTexas. We look forward to other Texans' opinions and comments on this Resolution. If good arguments to the contrary are made, we will reconsider our position.

The Texas response was in the gutter on the last GA vote -- Astronomical Data Repository -- which was passed after gaining 94.4% of the vote. As a reminder, all we are looking for is a simple 10% of Texans to say one way or another. We are a force for change in the WA. Every vote counts! There was 1 publicly-expressed opinions on the last Resolution with the final Texas tally running 1 FOR and 0 AGAINST and 0 ABSTAIN and 0 UNDECIDED. Texans were unanimous! Um, Yay?

If you would like to take part in shaping the world you live in, please vote. Voting is a right and a privilege, please consider using it. And, if you are not a member of the World Assembly, we strongly encourage you to join.

All Texas WA Member nations please vote. Please make your Texan opinions known in Texas by 11:00 PM Tuesday and in the World Assembly voting booth by 11:00 PM Texas Time on Wednesday the 10th. Current voting in The World is running - Votes FOR: 3197 Votes AGAINST: 8887

Big Tex

PS: Remember, be sure to vote at the World Assembly too!

I'm pleasantly surprised to be nominated for the Texas Representative Council and I'd like to thank everyone who nominated me. If elected I'll try to do my best and hopefully do a good job. This concludes my short and simple campaign speech because I'm quite speechless due to the surprise. :)

No Sir, good idea but I can't do that. However, I won't be forced by anyone into voting for any candidate in future elections. I'll choose who to vote for in future.

Does the bridge set have red bridge doors?

I'd like to wish everyone who's running for elections good luck too.

is discovery pre Kirk or post kirk?

Gig em Aggies wrote:is discovery pre Kirk or post kirk?

About 10 years before Kirk takes command, it's a few years after The Cage. Enterprise is under the command of Capt Christopher Pike.

isn't pike a security risk though? I mean he did get kidnapped by Nero and interrogated then was killed by Kahn.

That is only in the Kelvin timeline. Despite what the critics may say, Discovery takes place in the same Prime timeline as the other TV shows.

Pike was the Captain in the original Trek pilot but Rodenberry couldn't get the actor back once the show was approved. So, we then got Shatner as Capt Kirk

And yes, the turbolift doors are red.

Ah okay, cool. That's good to hear about it being a part of the real timeline. I hadn't been watching it yet, but I might start now.

Just was completely turned off by the reboot movies - never watched past the first one. I was incredulous in the theater at the time, thinking "Wait, that can't be the end of the movie?!? They haven't fixed the timeline!".

The 3 Kelvin timeline films were enjoyable, but not my favorite. In my opinion, the big story arc in Season 1 was a bit long but it's a decent first season. There's one episode left of season 2, which I've enjoyed. The show focuses heavily on one character and each season has a an overarching plot. The episodes are more connected than even Enterprise or DS9, but are still quite enjoyable. Both seasons have added more depth to secondary characters from the TOS era, while acknowledging what has already been established.

Some of the technology is different, but that's mainly due to modern tech advancing since the 60's. With the shorter seasons you could binge watch the show in about a month if you so chose.

Whew. Watching The Masters has been fun so far. There's been quite a few surprises these first couple days. Amongst these are Tiger Woods and Phil Mickelson, who are both back in contention for another major.

Phil Mickelson scorecard- https://i.imgur.com/zIoTHuO.png

Phil Mickelson may be 48, but he played the first round on Thursday as if he was 28. Phil shot an opening day 67 (-5), featuring seven birdies on the scorecard, including an incredible shot within inches of the hole on the par 3 sixteen. Phil was looking good and it was awesome to see. At times on Friday, he was in solo 2nd place, but finished the day with a 73 after a costly bogey on the 17th. He's at -4, three strokes off the lead and in a tie for 12th.

Tiger looked alright in the first round, trading birdies and bogeys before breaking away. At one point in the first round, he was tied for the lead at -3, but dropped to -2 by the end of the day and shot a 70. Meanwhile, Tiger really clicked on Friday, ratting off four birdies on the last 10 holes, including an incredible birdie on 14 after his tee shot went in the woods with the spectators. He shot a four under 68 on the day, leaving him one shot off the lead.
