Then who will grow and process the bananas?

NewTexas wrote:Safj, that is still a ridiculous amount of bananas your people eat daily - 64.51 Bananas Ingested Per Day! Really? It takes our citizens a full 4 days to ingest 1 banana.

64.51 BPD is a high water mark for me. That means every day in Safj 1.95 trillion bananas are consumed, and for the whole year, roughly 711 trillion bananas. In pounds, that roughly 237 trillion pounds. It's an absurd number, but fun to think about.

In a previous post many months ago, I did the math and determined that Safj would need farmland equivalent to 1/3 the total size of Texas to grow that many bananas. I can't remember specifically how I found that number, and I don't care to dig that far back, but it's safe to say that I would need much more land than that. Is it possible that a nation could really consume that many bananas? Who knows. The workload to operate that much farmland would be astronomical. Probably millions of people just working in the banana industry. How would you deal with irrigation and pests? Making it all happen would be a wonder in itself.

This yummy, tender, moist, golden cake is gently swirled throughout with sweet, cinnamony, brown sugary, buttery streusel and topped with a simply delicious crumble of more streusel crisped up to a heavenly, crunchy goodness. For a Texas spin on this perfect coffee accompaniment, we have a coffee cake with genuine Texas pecans and swirls of a nice and sweet, sugary glaze on top. We also have a version made with Black Walnuts for a funky taste that grabs some and repels others. We also have plenty of fruit varieties including apple, rhubarb, raisin, pear, and strawberry. We will open The Juice Bar is with all the standard juices - Orange, Apple, Grapefruit, Tomato, Prune, and Grape. We will add some funkier ones today including a Peach Mango, Pear Nectar, and Guava Juice. Try "The Suicide" - we dare you! Start your day off the right way, munch out and go back to sleep. well I don't mind being nominated for a spot again but I must decline to run since I will be in training for two weeks in Georgia so I won't be able to give a speech even though mine are the best in the region.

**** New WA Resolution Notification *****

There is currently a new General Assembly Resolution at vote. When expressing your opinion, please note which Resolution it is for. And remember Texans, your individual vote does count!

The new Resolution is called:
"Protecting Free Expression
A resolution to improve worldwide human and civil rights.

Category: Human Rights Strength: Significant Proposed by: United Massachusetts

Asserting that the most fundamental liberty of sapient individuals, freedom of thought, is rendered toothless without protecting also the outward ability to express said thought"...

<see the General Assembly for full text and to vote>

Synopsis: The General Assembly is offering up a replacement to the recently-repealed legislation by the same name. As a Texas Public Service Announcement, any legislation, not specifically legislated by the World Assembly, is your own nation's legislation to decide. One Star. NewTexas will go on record as AGAINST on this Resolution. This is only the opinion of NewTexas. We look forward to other Texans' opinions and comments on this Resolution. If good arguments to the contrary are made, we will reconsider our position.

The Texas response was barely out of the gutter on the last GA vote -- Repeal: "Ban On Secret Treaties" -- which was defeated after gaining only 36.4% of the vote. As a reminder, all we are looking for is a simple 10% of Texans to say one way or another. We are a force for change in the WA. Every vote counts! There was 2 publicly-expressed opinion on the last Resolution with the final Texas tally running 2 FOR and 0 AGAINST and 0 ABSTAIN and 0 UNDECIDED. Texans were unanimous! Yay!

If you would like to take part in shaping the world you live in, please vote. Voting is a right and a privilege, please consider using it. And, if you are not a member of the World Assembly, we strongly encourage you to join.

All Texas WA Member nations please vote. Please make your Texan opinions known in Texas by 11:00 PM Wednesday and in the World Assembly voting booth by 11:00 AM Texas Time on Thursday the 2nd. Current voting in The World is running - Votes FOR: 8380 Votes AGAINST: 2609

PS: Remember, be sure to vote at the World Assembly too!

Watched Cady Shack and Groundhog Day. Don't think I'd seen either one before today. Groundhog Day was the better movie in my opinion.

As for the WA, we voted For.

An Exposition on Jury Duty

Man, we had Jury Duty for the first time where we actually got to go in the courtroom (versus being called but never having to go because the 'perp pleads guilty before trial). Wow! Somehow, we never knew exactly how that worked. What a cluster job. What a bunch of wheelers and dealers. What a bunch of hurry-up-and-wait stuff. Law and Order it was not! It really could have used a little Ice T action or at least a Marisa Hargitay cameo. We learned a lot from performing our civic duty. The term "District Court" always refers to a felony crime. In Texas, a felony is a minimum of two years and upwards of ten years. If you have ever been convicted of a felony before, it goes up to a possible twenty years. Did not know any of that. Did not know that to cause any of your bodily fluids, any of them, to get on a public servant performing their duties, any of them, can be a felony regardless of the circumstances. Did not know in the most heinous of crimes they usually call 72 peeps to get 12. Did not know there are a bunch of weasels out there that know some magic words to get virtually automatically rejected. Did not know if you come to court, go to lunch, and don't come back results in a charge of contempt of court and finding yourself on the other side of the bar eventually. Did not know that a random slice of 72 of our contemporaries is so different. Did not know there are quite so many bleeding-heart liberals out there. Did not know so many people think the entire criminal justice system is irreparably "broken". Or, that about the same amount of people think the same thing about the mental health system. Did not know more than twice as many think "Black Lives Matter" more than "Any Life Matters" spanning all races, colors, and creeds.

What we did come to find out is that the State was thinking about grabbing us and the defense was deadset against that notion. And, we suspect there is some lucky would-be felon probably walking free about now. And, we are amazed at how many times that little circus plays out every day in dozens and dozens of courtrooms in that one building and in dozens and dozens of other courtrooms across town and in hundreds and hundreds of courtrooms across the State and then the whole thing happens in every State across the country, every day. Just kind of mind-boggling how such a sketchy process actually works at all. There are a lot of moving parts to criminal justice and the biggest one is the most random one of all - people.

That was our Monday, how was yours?

Noting that countless analyses, studies, and evidenced-based tests have conclusively shown what already makes intuitive sense, that sexual orientation and gender identity are not choices"...

<see the General Assembly for full text and to vote>

Synopsis: The General Assembly once again attempts to make The World a better place by universally banning attempting to change the sexual orientation or gender identity of anybody. This should be a no-brainer, but apparently, the author feels it should be legislated to ensure this heinous act is prevented everywhere. Three Stars. NewTexas will go on record as FOR on this Resolution. This is only the opinion of NewTexas. We look forward to other Texans' opinions and comments on this Resolution. If good arguments to the contrary are made, we will reconsider our position.

Seriously? That fact has been painfully obvious to me for the last couple of decades.

Regardless of circumstances? Paramedics and firefighters are going to be victims everytime they roll on a call.
