**** New WA Resolution Notification *****

There is currently a new General Assembly Resolution at vote. When expressing your opinion, please note which Resolution it is for. And remember Texans, your individual vote does count!

The new Resolution is called:
"Repeal: "Ban On Secret Treaties"
A resolution to repeal previously passed legislation.

Category: Repeal Resolution: GA#408 Proposed by: Jocospor

General Assembly Resolution #408 "Ban on Secret Treaties" (Category: Furtherment of Democracy; Strength: Mild) shall be struck out"...

<see the General Assembly for full text and to vote>

Synopsis: The General Assembly is offering to give you back your right to create secret treaties if you want to or not. This sounds pretty straightforward. Four Stars. NewTexas will go on record as FOR on this Resolution. This is only the opinion of NewTexas. We look forward to other Texans' opinions and comments on this Resolution. If good arguments to the contrary are made, we will reconsider our position.

The Texas response was finally in the gutter on the last GA vote -- Asbestos Consumption, Disposal and Worker Protection -- which was passed after gaining 61.3% of the vote. As a reminder, all we are looking for is a simple 10% of Texans to say one way or another. We are a force for change in the WA. Every vote counts! There was 1 publicly-expressed opinion on the last Resolution with the final Texas tally running 0 FOR and 1 AGAINST and 0 ABSTAIN and 0 UNDECIDED. Texans were unanimous! Um, Yay?

If you would like to take part in shaping the world you live in, please vote. Voting is a right and a privilege, please consider using it. And, if you are not a member of the World Assembly, we strongly encourage you to join.

All Texas WA Member nations please vote. Please make your Texan opinions known in Texas by 11:00 PM Friday and in the World Assembly voting booth by 11:00 PM Texas Time on Saturday the 14th. Current voting in The World is running - Votes FOR: 3614 Votes AGAINST: 6142

Big Tex

PS: Remember, be sure to vote at the World Assembly too!

Yay! The Arch is winning! I've been there! (then again, I've also been to Nashville's Parthenon, but the Arch wins by a mile)

This is the first list where I have not visited any of the places. Never been to NYC, and while I've been to the D.C. Area, I didn't make it to the Pentagon.

Was surprised the Lincoln Memorial did so well last round, but that's the fun of it.

One or our crews got robbed a gun point under that arch during March Madness years ago.

Alas, you probably would not have got much closer to the Monument To Murphy's Law (Four walls and a spare) than the Pentagon City Mall without some kind of advanced notice from a friend inside.

You can take tours of the Pentagon, but they have to be approved ahead of time.

Damn terrys ruin the fun for everyone.

Terrys?

We did not know you could tour the Pentagon. How do you arrange that? Do you have to be in the military or submit your SSN, your passport #, your mother's maiden name and your firstborn's SSN in advance or something?

The Texas Weekly Chat Session will be Saturday (TODAY) at High Noon Texas Time (CDT) ***Saturday***. And, if you can't be there right at Noon, that is Ok, Texas Chat usually runs 3, 4, 5 hours with some Chats running as high as 7 or 8 hours.

The Texas Chat Site is here: http://texasregion.net/blab70/login.php

Please register with your nation name. This is a great opportunity for nations old and new to Texas to find out what is going on! We chat, we debate, we talk about the weather, we talk about stuff we like, stuff we hate, random stuff and more stuff. But, it is never stuffy. Usually, it is about meeting your fellow Texans and talking about the latest and most interesting stuff in NationStates at the moment. But then again, sometimes NationStates does not even come up. It is wide-open chatting with peeps from around The World both IRL and NS. It is Texans, EuroTexans, WannabeTexans, ex-Texans, and plenty of Friends of Texans. We have it all and all are welcome. Texas Chat, 697 weeks and running! For the math-challenged, that is over 13¾ years! Check it out! Good stuff!

It s that bear again

Frisbeeteria wrote:Central Park is not some random wilderness enclosed by roads. Every single bit of it was as carefully designed as the Empire State Building or the World Trade Centers. It wouldn't surprise me if there were more workmen involved in its construction than either of the buildings. Fredrick Law Olmstead effectively created the profession of landscape architecture when he was chosen to build the park. It's pretty impressive, actually.

Doesn't its design actually draw heavily of that for an earlier park in England... somewhere on Merseyside, IIRC?

Yes, it's Birkenhead Park, the world's oldest publicly-funded park. I used to live fairly near it.

Attention Texans! We will have a 24 hr runoff poll starting tomorrow to get our list down to 14 wonders. From our top 7, per the suggestion of Big Tex, we will vote for the ultimate wonder in the US.

NewTexas wrote:We did not know you could tour the Pentagon. How do you arrange that? Do you have to be in the military or submit your SSN, your passport #, your mother's maiden name and your firstborn's SSN in advance or something?

Or a government issued press pass like mine.

For you peasants... errrr... uhm... I meant, You regular people, start with your local congress critter's office. They can steer you through the process of getting Pentagon tours, White House tours, congressional office visits, and obtaining flags that fly over the capitol.

NewTexas and Egregious erudition

Nothing that complicated. You have to submit a form online and wait for approval.

It's gotten easier then.

The runoff poll has been posted.

Welcome, we are currently voting on Modern Wonders in the US.

Since the wonders in our poll have all been voted on before, the last few rounds are only running for 2 days.

Thank you for welcoming me and nice to meet you. :)

Deeply troubled by what happened in Helsinki today. No matter your party affiliation, it should absolutely terrify you that the American President is willing to discount mountains of evidence from the FBI and CIA about Russian attacks on American democracy, and give the benefit of the doubt to a former KGB officer. In a very real sense, the President is actively choosing to not defend the country from a foreign enemy that is threatening the foundations of our republic.

Think about it. This isn't political hyperbole. This is past the point of debate. I can respectfully disagree with others on many political issues in this country, but there can be no debate about the President allowing a foreign adversary to make attacks on the United States. At best, it's a fundamental failure to do your most basic job as President, defend the Constitution, and at worst, it is treason. Treason in the United States Constitution is defined as either "levying war" and/or "in adhering to their Enemies, giving them Aid and Comfort". It doesn't take a leap of logic to see that Trump is aiding Russian attacks on America, by failing to protect our sovreignity from outside influences.

We're at a point when we each have to decide if we're going to allow this to continue to happen. The evidence is there for anyone to see. If you value democracy and the American experience, it's time to start speaking out against what is happening in our country.

Come on TX, you really think the Alamo is a greater engineering feat than the Hoover Dam or St Louis Arch?

Indian Empire and Egregious erudition

Brilliance, Ingenuity, mix/match/combo, we are going to have to step in and call ballot box-stuffing. Winning a Poll through such puppet mastering is not very Texan. You are all obviously one Player's puppets and all your votes will be counted as one, or you can pull the votes off some of those puppets. The same thing is going to happen when The Alamo comes up for a vote again. Sorry, it is the only fair thing to do without making these WA-Only Polls. Trec, didn't mean to horn in on your Poll, but we cannot let this go unmentioned either.
