The Space Center will be back one more time to see if it makes it into the final 7 wonders.

Happy 4th of July to all Americans. To the rest of you, hope your day was good as well.

#31? That was surprising but hooray! We made the top 50 :)

Happy 4th of July to all Americans :)

The next poll is up. After this we have one more round of initial voting. If we need a 5th round to narrow it down to 14, we will do so. Otherwise it will be a 2 round poll to create the final list of 7.

***** Texas Saturday Breakfast *****

Yippee, it is Saturday Breakfast Time! Today is Fourth Of July Grilled Breakfast! It is a little late but close enough, so we are honoring the Fourth of July, we will be grilling breakfast today. We will start off with freshly-grilled, Texas-sized, cured, hickory smoked Ham Steaks! Oh Boy, these babies are good and thick, super juicy and expertly grilled with beautiful cross-hatch grill marks. Top those bad boys off with skillet fried eggs right off the grill, or, have them scrambled. If you don't want to top your ham steak with eggs, top it off with great grilled pineapple slices caramelized to perfection. Just for fun, try some Grilled Texas Toast French Toast - fat slices of genuine Texas Toast soaked in a tasty cinnamon-vanilla egg bath and grilled to order. If ham is not your deal, there will be sumptuous sage country sausage patties on the grill right next to the super-thick slab bacon and sweet crispy apple slices. For the adventurous, we will be serving up plenty of BBQ'd back bacon to honor Canada Day, which, by the way, was also last week. Smoked Sausages are smoking and ready to be wrapped in tortillas for Texas-style Pigs in a Blanket. Orange Juice, Tomato Juice, and Lone Star Beer will all be on tap for your beverage pleasure. It doesn't get much better than this! Start your day off the right way; munch out and go back to sleep. Of course, The Never Ending Urn of Coffee is full and ready to help you wash it all down. Texas coffee doesn't get much better. Enjoy Texas! You know you want to!®

***** Texas Chat Reminder *****

The Texas Weekly Chat Session will be Saturday (TODAY) at High Noon Texas Time (CDT) ***Saturday***. And, if you can't be there right at Noon, that is Ok, Texas Chat usually runs 3, 4, 5 hours with some Chats running as high as 7 or 8 hours.

The Texas Chat Site is here: http://texasregion.net/blab70/login.php

Please register with your nation name. This is a great opportunity for nations old and new to Texas to find out what is going on! We chat, we debate, we talk about the weather, we talk about stuff we like, stuff we hate, random stuff and more stuff. But, it is never stuffy. Usually, it is about meeting your fellow Texans and talking about the latest and most interesting stuff in NationStates at the moment. But then again, sometimes NationStates does not even come up. It is wide-open chatting with peeps from around The World both IRL and NS. It is Texans, EuroTexans, WannabeTexans, ex-Texans, and plenty of Friends of Texans. We have it all and all are welcome. Texas Chat, 696 weeks and running! For the math-challenged, that is over 13¾ years! Check it out! Good stuff!

As if I needed an excuse to get the official Star Trek magazine, Larry Nemecek will be answering my question in an upcoming edition. I asked it on Facebook during one of his Q&A sessions, he said it would make a good topic for his magazine column. Today I got a message saying he will be answering it.

can you actually tell us what the question is or do I have to waste a few bucks to buy a magazine?

I don't know which issue it's going to be in, nor the answer.

When I was reading some books compiled from an old fan magazine, I noticed the dates they gave for events in TOS was significantly different than what's now been established.

Given that, I wanted to know when/how the dates were solidified.

Hey Y'all,

Central Park? How does a park in the middle of an Urban environment qualify as a wonder?

The real miracle there is getting through that landscape in one piece after dark.

Hey Y'all

Central Park is not some random wilderness enclosed by roads. Every single bit of it was as carefully designed as the Empire State Building or the World Trade Centers. It wouldn't surprise me if there were more workmen involved in its construction than either of the buildings. Fredrick Law Olmstead effectively created the profession of landscape architecture when he was chosen to build the park. It's pretty impressive, actually.

Never said it was anything different, however you did gloss over the part about getting out of there in one piece.

What I said is that it does not qualify as a "wonder." If we use the standards you offered up of architecture, number of construction workers, acreage, etc, then we will need to add Disney's complex in Orlando, Universal Orlando, and the old Bethlehem Steel complex.

The guidelines for "Wonder" were fairly vague.

no no the real miracle is how the hell thousands of New Yorkers haven't gone Purge Anarchy on each other living in tiny ass closets with the rent being too damn high.

oh and I'm now officially in Austin. Until my move in date at the apartment complex I have rented a room in someone's house off of Airbnb until 8/8 but I might be able to stay until I move in on 8/21.

Thank you so much for you kind words Shay! Texas enjoyed Canada's visit quite a bit as well! Y'all make fine guests and you are invited to any party we ever have!

We do not know if y'all notice that we changed our WFE to abscond with your catchphrase while you were here? Well, when we were "putting it back", we decided to keep it, but to put a little more of a Texas spin on it:

Howdy, Welcome y Bienvenidos to Texas - a proud member of the Non-Crappy Region Network™!

We bet you did not know you had started a network. We hope you don't mind us joining!

Thank you again Canada for not only the good times but for all the Maple Syrup! Rest assured, the BBQ will always flow freely and unrestrictedly from Texas to Canada as well.

Issues Test Bed: We think the voters have realized the same thing you have about a big grassy spot in a city. No offense Frisbeeteria, we are sure it is lovely and a nicely designed and landscaped park.

Gig em Aggies: Welcome to Austin! You will find all the conveniences of home and twice the traffic!

United soviet states of texas empire: Welcome back to Texas! We hope you enjoyed your little dirt nap.

It was harsh land, I was taken to Oklahoma! They deprived me of my Texas Flag, my Alamo, my Austin pictures. It was HORRIBLE. Then, they had a flaw in the way they think, and I had my chance to ESCAPE! I made it back here, and I am ready for some Glorious Texan Party.

Got that right. Back in 2003, three of our interns were sharing a studio apartment on Manhattan in a building with a doorman. (Got to have a doorman if you don't want to be beaten, raped and robbed in your own bed more than once a week.) If I remember right, they were paying $1800 a month for less than 600 square feet.

The next Wonder Poll is up.

FYI, this is not a secret ballot.
