Shay, you are the Woman of the Hour, if you want to run a Worldwide Poll, we can do it. The one about Gus, the Toggenburgs and the Nubians?

Haha yeah, now I think about it maybe that poll idea I created does require a bit too much research!
And oh my goodness though, I admit my suggestive suggestion was not meant suggestively at all on my part.
Apologies if I made anyone blush as I did once NewTexas pointed out this embarrassing faux pas of mine!

Parkplace I agree :D

Egregious erudition

We just have to rember next time that Nubians and Nubiles are two very different things. Maybe we should be embarrassed at our complete lack of knoweldge of goat breeds and classifications. It you had asked us what kinds of goats there were, we would have said eating goats and hairy goats. We did not even realize millk goats were a thing (guess that reveals our dislike of chèvre). D'oh!

If you're putting Texans against Canadians, I might have to agree with our Northern friends. They gave us such people as Jimmy Doohan and William Shatner.

Plus a lot of "alien" worlds look suspiciously like Canadian woods

Does anyone know who is in charge of our regional map-if anyone?

Please don't hold Justin Bieber and Nickleback against us. LOL

Ok, I'll give it a try...

Should Maple Syrup be an ingredient in BBQ Sauce?

Oh, hell yeah!
No way!
I like a spicy kick to my BBQ Sauce not sweetness
BBQ Sauce is taste great with true sweetness added

etc.. any more suggestions? (i.e.; molasses, red hot, brown sugar)

It s that bear again

plus Guy Lombardo and His Royal Canadians (and I like their music, okay?)...

^_^

Breakfast is up for Texans and Canadians alike on the offsite!

Tacos + Salsa Bar + Waffles, all that is missing is the syrup!

Left wing politicians and activists racing to microphones to condemn a Supreme Court nominee that has yet to be named pretty much sums up today's liberals. Kind of sad, isn't it?

I had Maple Syrup on my waffels today, but it wasn't

Parkplace wrote:Please don't hold Justin Bieber and Nickleback against us. LOL

Nope, I don't have strong opinions about either one.

I say we deport them but I'm too friendly to harm my fellow Canadian friends.

I like Nickelback........

* blinks *

Perhaps this wasn't such a great idea.

Stay cool out there. It's a hot start to July

Maybe our friends up in Maple syrup land could drop some of their nice cold water off down south so us Yankees can cool our hot heads down.

Day 11 of over-100◦ in NewAustin today. WooHootie! Shooting for 105◦ (40.5◦ C for our Canadian buddies) tomorrow! Just going to set the fajita meat out on the patio in the morning, should be done by dinner time. Newfangled charcoal-less BBQing! YeHaw!

What about mashed potatoes you can just skip the pot and throw those into lake Travis to boil.

Everyone who desires a cooling shower, please form a queue.

The next poll for Wonders is up. I am keeping track of how many votes the top ones get from each round in order to generate our final poll in a week or so.

Well, we missed the 105º we were promised, but Tuesday become the 14th day of triple-digit high temperatures in 2018 in NewAustin. We only got to 103º. 11 of the last 12 days were 100º+ temperatures. 🌞

June's Special Feature: The Poet Laureate's Poem for June 2018
Aersoldorf won the poet laureate competition this month, making this his 13th time holding the title. He graciously allowed me to use this poem as this month's special feature, so that our friends in various parts of the NS world can enjoy this delightful and wonderful poem. So, without further ado, this was their entry for the competition this month, with the theme "Flowers".

The Flower of My Youth

A forest filled with leafless trees,
Beneath a sky of lead.
Still sentinels surrounding me,
My Muse, my Love, is dead.

Their frozen fingers, rimed with ice,
Claw at, and chill, my soul,
Where once did beat a love-warmed heart,
They probe a gaping hole.

The Flower of my youth is gone,
In Winter's grip I'm held,
The songs of Joy, once everywhere,
Have had their voices quelled.

Ye offspring of the meadows, that
Of sun, and rain, are born,
Art hideous beside my bloom,
So bow your heads and mourn.

You, Gold of Kinabalu, are
Most dear, in price, to own,
And yet, a fortune meet her worth,
No man has ever known

The Udumbara, legend holds,
Three thousand years 'tween blooms,
My Muse, each day, more lovely grows,
A fairer form assumes.

O Middlemist camellia,
Quite rare, but two exist,
Yet common, thou, compared to her,
Unique in Time's deep mist.

Though trapped within an icy hell,
To Hope I firmly cling,
And pray each day that, come what may,
She'll bloom again, come Spring
