QOTW (Question of the Week):

What are some fairy tales, folk tales, or legends from YN?

Rhodevus is home to numerous tales and legends. The IdF for instance has some very famous ones such as: 'The Kitten's Key', 'The Girl the Size of a Flower', 'The Fish and the Donkey', and 'The Glass Coffin'.

'The Kitten's Key' tells the story of a beautiful maiden who is sought after by plenty of extremely wealthy and royal people. Instead of choosing who to marry, she tells all her suitors that the person to marry her will be the person who can open her from door with the key that is attached to her kitten's collar. In the end, all the suitors try to force the kitten to give the key, capture it, or trick it. They all fail and go home in tears. Instead, a peasant farmer feeds the cat and protects it when it is tired from running away from the suitors. In return for his generosity, the kitten leaves the key at the farmer's house, who uses it to open the maiden's door, resulting in their marriage.

'The Girl the Size of a Flower' is about... well, a girl the size of a flower (particularly a sunflower petal) who is stolen from her home by bandits, and sold across the world (really, she was probably sold to Ziambani traders), only to later escape and be introduced to a village of people all her size.

'The Fish and the Donkey' is about a fish and a donkey trying to taste the honey that is produced by a beehive at the top of a very tall tree. Since neither of them can climb the tree or fly, they need to use trickery to get other animals to do it for them. In the end, the donkey and fish taste the honey, only to find out that neither of them enjoy the taste at all, and thanks to their trickery, had angered all the other animals around them.

'The Glass Coffin' is sort of a sleeping beauty knock-off, where instead of an apple that makes her fall asleep, its the glass coffin itself. The wicked step-mother/witch tricks the princess into falling asleep on a glass bed (the glass coffin) and falls into a never-ending sleep until kissed by a prince.

The mainland has a plethora of famous legends, folk tales and fairy tales, but a classic one that most people know is one that is either titled: 'The Forest of Roses' or 'The Moonlit Rose', depending on the translation.

The story is about a forest protected by a Guardian Spirit. Her flower (the rose) and animal (the wolf) are sacred and can never be hunted nor taken from the forest. One particular flower, the Moonlit Rose, which only grows in one spot on one day a year under the full moon can never be plucked. In the story a wandering future-chief looking to use the flower to win the heart of the woman he loves, ends up running into the Guardian Spirit, not realizing who She is. The future-chief tells Her that he wants to find the flower to look at, so as the two grow closer, She leads him to the flower, where instead of looking for it, he plucks it. Enraged, the Guardian Spirit turns him into a dandelion, and turns his entire tribe into coyotes. The forest itself was destroyed, as the Moonlit Rose was the soul of the Guardian Spirit's mother and the one which kept the forest alive and well.

If any of you are on Facebook/any social media and could somehow help spread this info, I need your help. This is for a friend of mine in Oregon. Her mom has cancer and if you somehow know anybody who could be a donor or find a way how to spread this info, I would appreciate it:

what would you like to do first?

Unsure. I'm talking roleplay here, but I don't have a lot of context and background for things I could touch up on or things I could react to.

Anyone got some ideas for my first post?

I'm also not sure what I'm looking to change about Rezua

well, I know a whole bunch of regional history (IC) so wanna develop your history?

as for news posts, you did say you are preparing to go to war, so why not talk about preparations? or the debates in your senate (or equivalent) about the potential of going to war?

did you submit something for sunalayavision?

Perhaps I will. Do you know if any of the nations surrounding the islands in the middle continent are inactive?
Or those on the islands

Rhodevus wrote:did you submit something for sunalayavision?

Oof not yet

I have no ideas on what to send

Get back into it yourself.

There is a different map right now, but it is on the discord (will need to be put up instead of the old map). Maybe you are already aware of all this info? In Sunalaya, I noticed that it is very easy to naturally get into to things or at least start out, by getting involved with current events happening in our world. At the moment, there is not much, but I have a feeling there will be soon. If you are into music, we are about to have a Sunalayavision (our Eurovision equivalent), so I would recommend joining that for starters. It will be fun. We do it annually.

If Revonic sounds like German, you now have your selection limit. I suggest aiming for something out of whatever genre of music your personally enjoy (obviously). If Rezuan culture has some sort of contemporary medieval or Nordic theme going on, then maybe aim for something symphonic? There is a lot of acts out there if you look them up.

But I need one with live actors? I've got lots of music I could use but none with music videos.

Anyway, friendly reminder that Clone Wars season 7 and Altered Carbon season 2 is out. And Castlevania season 3 is out on March 3rd.

It needs to be someone consistently singing into a microphone, but there have been videos out there where the quality of the sound, the vocals, etc, has been high. Concert videos are like that. There has to be somebody out there for you. If you have a band or a singer you like, just find their best live performance or a music video that happens to be just them singing into a microphone (with no cutaways) and send that in as your entry. Makenzie and Athabaska will clarify if it qualifies or not before your final submission, since M&A is very approachable.

Look up the last 2 Sunalayavision contests for reference.
