Sovereign CharterBoard

In light of the conversation happening on the discord channel concerning the RP thread "Meridian Crisis" I felt it was necessary to explain myself and what my intentions were. This thread post is not an in character RP, I am addressing everyone as myself. After I got back into nation states after my nation CTE I wanted to do two things. #1 was to use my old nation, #2 was to try something different. When my nation originally existed, I was trying to RP a nation that I felt was as ideal or as noble as I could manage. I wanted it to be my interpretation of how a Lawful Good nation would act. Then after I came back to NS and Sovereign Charter i found that a lot had changed, and a lot was still the same so I wanted to do the same to my renewed nation. I decided that instead of RPing the Lawful Good nation I wanted to play a more ambiguously moral nation. In universe- I felt that it simply made sense that if my nation had collapsed and the reorganized then they would be more hostile to outsiders, and less altruistic. so I reclaimed the approximate area where my nation was and settled there, and wanted to RP the logical mood of what my people would hypothetically want: a return to their former prime. So I created the Meridian Crisis with Nouvel and Auruum to play out this semi-war, semi-political RP.

All that being said, it seems to me that I may have gone a bit too far with it. Ultimately we are all here to have fun and i don't want to be the person to ruin that for someone else. Nouvel, Auruum, if my actions have actually upset you guy in real life then I am absolutely sorry. That was never my intention. I just wanted to have an interesting, morally grey, political scenario more reflective of real life politics. One where there isn't a true good guy or bad guy but just people. But it seem I have taken it and abused the system and have now genuinely upset you and others. If that is the case then I want you to know that If you feel that way then please let me know, and ill stop. ill cede any claims i made on your territory, ill stop the RP. I just want everyone to have fun creating stories. If i'm no longer doing that, or worse, I'm preventing other from doing that, then ill step aside.

We're all cool. The change in claim parameters was a bit jarring at first and appropriately generated some conversation - and I wouldn't want to see this process replicated on a wide scale - but I'm totally cool dealing with things 'where they are.' As a nation that CTE'd a long time ago, I understand what its like to have to claw and scrape your way back to your old territory. FWIW, I haven't played all my cards in Discord, and I expect you'll actually be damned pleased with the end results.

Well, our informal poll on presidential election terms did not reveal a strong desire one way or another: the vote was 4 to 4, with a fairly low turnout. Given that result, I am not inclined to suggest any changes right now.

Can we please run a poll about migration to a new region with a puppet founder? I at least want to see what people's stances are when it comes down to a leave vs remain vote (especially with all the brits we have here)

I agree with the poll...we can only have one poll at a time. Having said that, it would be nice if our members would actually come to the NS site and read what the hell is going on. 8 votes in a poll that was open for a week? We may need to also have a discussion about the damage that occurs when everyone chooses to spend their time on Discord instead of our actual RMB....

OK, everybody, we need to have a serious discussion. If you are a member of this region, your voice is necessary. As many of you know, our regional founder, Enfaru, CTE'd. Under Nation States rules, that means that Raiders can join our region en masse, elect their own WA Delegate, and wipe out our Region. In an effort to protect the Sovereign Charter, we are currently password protected, so no one can join without knowing it. It prevents raiding, but it also stifles growth because it becomes cumbersome to join.

To remedy this, I am proposing that we set up a new region (It could simply be called the 4th Charter, or the New Charter...that's not the point...yet), setup by a new founder. That would enable players to find us, while avoiding the Raider Danger. It also means, however, that every nation would need to 'migrate' to the new region. We would need to do some administrative work to transfer the map and other info, but its doable.

I'm personally against it. I feel we are fine as we are, in this region where we have all invested so much time into. To abandon it because of the slim possibility of threat seems undesirable to me and I am not alone. We have other methods to deter such people. I can't help but also feel that abandoning this region will stifle us, not rejuvenate activity as some have suggested.

I mean, I’m all for securing the region from raiders, only downside is I’m not looking forward to migrating and the fuzziness of moving everything over. But once everything is, then it shouldn’t be too different from the way things are now right?
