Every time I try to request an embassy I end up moving my nation on accident!

I woke up this morning in RL Singapore, and thought people downstairs are burning ghost money but unfortunately it seems to be the Haze... : (

Is it Haze season already?...

How's everything here so far?

Bathor wrote:How's everything here so far?

We are fine over here, in the process of getting more Embassies.

hey, Atp synthase, thanks for shifting over to here! *hands over welcome coconut and carrot cake*

Bathor wrote:How's everything here so far?

Veery peaceful but good so far. Nordhagen looks a bit bored here, does not even wear a proper flag :p

Ya! Btw, after an embassy is established, it would be nice to at least say hello to the other region (if embassy posting is enabled). : )

Hi, I'm new here to nation states. Can anyone explain to me what regions are for?

Thanks!

Hi Kaake and Loch coney, welcome to Singapore! : )

There are about 150000 nations in Singapore. If they would all be in one region then it would be a chaos.

Regions give the whole thing a structure and a chance to spread out.

People can organized themselves in differently themed regions and build separate communities. And probably much more...

This is a region named after a RL country.... as you might know. What. brings you here?

Hey there! Well I'm from Singapore in RL so I guess that would kinda explain :)

Nice to meet you guys!

Hi Tinkbourg, Loch coney and I are from the RL country you speak of so, we thought we'd come join this region!
So.. Whats happening? :D

Tinkbourg wrote:There are about 150000 nations in Singapore.

ups, you might have realized that I wrote 150000 nations in Singapore but of course I meant in NationStates....

Hey, that's nice. Bathor, look here! Two freshman!

We are reorganizing everything. This region, Singapore Island, is the part of Singapore which serves to welcome new nations first.

Our main region Singapore is currently under password protection. That means nations need the password to enter. Reason is that the founder of Singapore CTE, and thus the region is prone to raids.

We aim on reuniting the Singapore community in the future.

I recommend you to click on the region Singapore and say hello and more (via embassy) on their regional message board (RMB). Singlish is allowed ; )

Nice! It's always great to meet fellow Singaporeans :)

Are the both of you familiar with the concept of raiding and defending?

I get that members of the region "vote" for the leader, so if someone enters your region and starts bringing in a lot of other people, then they can all vote for him and make him the leader. The leader can therefore delete the region and that's raiding.

Defending ... erm.. I guess its a bunch of people maybe other regions that you are "friendly" with coming in and voting for someone who doesn't want to destroy the region?

Is that it?

In layman's terms, yes. "Voting" here in NS is referred to as endorsing and only WA members can endorse others. Raiders don't really destroy regions, they just do annoying stuff like ejecting natives, closing embassies and spamming the rmb. Defenders help protect us by endorsing the current leader, to ensure that the native leader "remains more popular" than the raider leader.

Elected leaders of regions are referred to as WA delegates. Only region founders have permanent authority, WA delegate is through democratic process.

Nice explainations Kaake and Bathor. Maybe I should just copy paste your answers in the future of somebody is asking :p

As Bathor said, 'destroying' the region is rare and tough. But if invaders are really serious about it, and if they spend month to infiltrate and then occupy a region, then it might result in something like Republic of Singapore. While I think that most of those kind of regions were just directly founded like this without conquering them first.

Kaake and Loch coney, you know each other from RL?

Ah I see! So what is with the embassies then?

Tinkbourg Yeah, we know each other IRL. Oh and you should definitely do the copy and pasting. Especially since this is where new nations can come to instead of the main region.

So... this begs the question, what do we do now? Like region wise. Sorry, I'm new to this game, it is very strange to me... Strange, but interesting:D

I think with Singapore you really encountered a strange situation, but ya, an interesting :p

As I said, the future of the regions is a bit unclear. We are happy if you stay with us. The more you get involved, the faster you can settle over to Singapore, if that is desired. Use the embassy posting and say hello in Singapore directly.

In the meanwhile I have signed you up as an officer for this region. You can run polls. If you want to request embassies as well, let me know.

Are you planning to join the WA?

Hi Tinkbourg Sure I'd love to join the main Singapore region. Who can I get the password from?
Oh! And I just joined the WA! does this mean that whatever bill it passes, It will affect my nation as well?

I don't know for sure but I feel national legislation has a greater effect than WA. The WA membership might have a slight effect on your nation when you rarely answer national issues.

As long as you are an Inoffensive Centrist Democracy, you won't feel it at all, I guess, since most WA resolution are rather centric. If you have an extreme nation, you might see changes after a longer time not answering issues. This is just what I heard and experienced.

Regarding the password, I ask you to be a bit patient. The best thing you can do for now is to post from time to time.

Do you understand what I mean, when I say: you can use the embassy to post on the RMB of Singapore? (for example, this post was lodged via embassy).

Oh? I thought Minister of Immigration cleared me already. He said I was no longer suspicious:D
Does that mean because you have and embassy in Singapore means people from this region can post in there? Is that what embassies are for?
Alright will do! I'll disturb the people there :)

Kaake wrote:Oh? I thought Minister of Immigration cleared me already. He said I was no longer suspicious:D

Don't ask me, I have a decision making problem. :p

I'm sure it is on a good way.

Exactly!

Kaake, hope you stick to the poll result ; )

So much for confidentiality. Also just to clear this up, I said you are cleared from investigation.. that does not mean you are to be let in the Singapore group yet.

I cleared him, he should be joining us soon.
